How is a mass release not going to threaten public safety? What would the qualifications be for the inmates aka. Seriousness of crimes?

Awesome topic, very informative. I just found a forcible entry guide on my computer put out by FDNY. I have no idea where I got it but it is awesome. It is called FDNY Forcible Entry Bible. It has step by step instructions, tips, tricks, hints with pictures. Definitely a recommended read. FDNY Forcible Entry Bible

I agree with you. In this day and age a police officer can trick you in so many ways. I think that our generation was brought up in a society with more legal teaching. In high school I had to take a criminal law class, and now in college I am minoring in criminal justice. Legalities of laws like this have peaked my interest lately, mainly laws regarding internal possesion of alcohol. I believe that I am a strict interpreter of the Constitution. BTW thanks for the Link Chris, definatly a good read if anyone is interested.

So the Myth is busted?

I've heard stories about people getting tickets for speeding between ez pass readers. Is this true or just an urban legend? Anyone?

Quck question. Does having red lights and a siren in your personal vehicle effect your insurance in any way?

These have been around for a while now. You might see it on police cars around you. They look like "bug eyes" mounted on top.

That was exactly what I was thinking. Atleast it is better than garbage or those roasted nuts. For some reason that smell bothers me so much.

Article Thoughts? I could see this being a big problem on the fire ground, especially since he has trouble using radios. Effective communication skills are necessary in my opinion to be an effective officer.
-
Anyone know where to find pictures of their rigs? What equipment they carry?

No offense to anyone but where does your department set limitations? Im sure handicapped people could be excellent firefighters. Would you feel safe operating with along side someone who was blind? what if they didn't have full use of their legs? Its great that you guys know sign language but how effective is that when your interior doing work? What about mutual aid where no one knows sign language? If someone can't communicate over a radio doesn't that make them a potential liablity if they lost or disorientated and can't call for help? In my opinion there are too many what if's.

Thoughts? I find it pretty crazy that they would give out bonuses with taxpayer money. Also interesting that Obama makes 400,000.

Another good tactic is to use a winch. A lot of the new rescues coming out have winch hookup points on all four sides of the rig. Hook up the winch and secure the vehicle that way.

I certainly wouldn't have members "holding" it up with their bodies if I was the officer. It is only a picture and none of us were on scene though. Anyone have any input? Is it worth trying to place struts on an unoccupied vehicle?
