RIP Sir... Brewster is operating at a structure fire right now
-
Danbury FD is probably the closest. I am not sure how inter-state mutual aid works but Danbury and Brewster have worked together often in the past. Danbury's Special Operations Division includes a "heavy rescue" Squad 1 which is very well equipped with multiple hurst tools, lifting bags, rope rescue, etc. There is also trench capabilities through a dedicated trailer, a "gator", and the CT Northwest Regional Hazmat team which is based at Engine 26 across the street from the Danbury mall. The Hazmat team has a dedicated vehicle (Haz-Mat 1) similar to WCDES and also responds with a support vehicle. As far as manpower I am sure if requested resources sent would include the squad company of 3, an engine company of 3 and a commanding officer (maybe more). All would be highly trained, highly professional, and highly motivated (plus already staffed). I am sure I am leaving some stuff out but its been a long day and that is all I have right now.

Working schedules not written in the contract? Im confused still on how this happened.

Thanks for the update.. Wasn't sure who still had the capability. I know in Somers we used NYPD at a large brush fire a few years ago.
-
Back to the bambi bucket question since brush fire season is upon us... What kind of air resources are available for "water drops" for example Brewster yesterday.
-
Apparently it wasn't controlled if he had the incident in question?

Hope you weren't driving...

Dispatching was never designed to be done on the trunked system… Tones are put out over 46.26 then units use the trunk system to call 60-control

Link to incident audio with Maydays….

New Haz-Mat 1?….

Yes and I heard a bunch of their "in-service" members were out there picking it up today...

I read that study and it is actually an interesting read... wonder if this will change how departments spec out new gear. At my job everyone is issued a radio and a radio strap but our gear does have a "radio pocket". I have found that it holds a good pair of channel lock pliers in easy reach.

get a sway strap and you will be fine.. It will keep it in place

Is that going to be temporary or permanent thing?

Rescue 20 in Somers recently acquired one. I used it at a rollover recently and it was very quick to set up and use. It definitely cut the windshield faster and cleaner than I could have with an axe or glassmaster. Like all tools there was still glass dust but over-all I would need to drill with it more before giving a comprehensive review... More to come.

On the update starting Monday morning at 8Am 60 Control will begin "direct dispatching" any calls that they receive for Somers fire and EMS.
