  1. I drank 2 and a half of these last weekend... These types of drinks have been around for years, but only recently has Four Loko gotten media attention which is leading to the increased popularity. Think about it if you publish all over the news how popular and dangerous this drink is and how the government doesn't want you drinking it (think Marijuana) your doing the best marketing on behalf of the company. Within the last couple of weeks the national attention this drink has received has made more people try it especially on college campuses. I did.
  2. There are big differences in videos. First, there is "recruitment" videos. Recruitment videos can be a good way to show the people and communities you serve who you are and what you are doing and showing the need for volunteers and assistance. These videos can even "inspire" people to join or at least look into how they can help. On the other hand there are "buff" movies which are geared mainly towards other Firefighters or responders. Most of these videos are made to show off the "good" calls that you've had recently. The recruitment videos done right can be a valuable resource.
  3. I was also wondering about the placement of the ladder. Was it used from that position?
  4. Why was it discontinued?
  5. I believe the WCTRT was called for manpower to assist in the large area search. Members of the team are trained in wilderness search and rescue.
  6. Thanks for the first hand account of what happened.... Glad everyone is ok
  7. Your right EFDCapt. On the other side of the coin what about departments that call for a FAST team then utilize them as manpower on scene and not for FAST duties.... AKA "Putting the FAST to work"
  8. Do you have a link to more information about this new ISO change?
  9. Its working fine for me....
  10. Somers is looking at a new Tower Ladder 18.... We seem pretty happy with both of our recent Sutphen deliveries. I am unsure of the status or where the committee is at.
  11. Aren't they scheduled to hold a test in a couple of months?
  12. Maybe in terms of EMS priority dispatch could help decide appropriate response levels? Anyone use priority dispatch?
  13. Great point... What ever gets all of us home safe is most important. I also think that an issue like this is a huge waste of time for legislation. We shouldn't be worrying about who has what color lights and who violates what law or regulation, but how we can serve the public more efficiently and safer.
  14. RIP FF's Kelly and Ruggiero. Thoughts and prayers with your families and your departments to get through this hard time.
  15. I think that overall Fire/EMS is going to become neglected by DPS and more priority given to "Police issues." DES has done a great job with training and special services and built up the level of services they can provide. To me this seems like a full 360 degree turn and will ultimately hurt the fire service and the public. In regards to the special op's teams run by DES, how can you save money by cutting volunteers and using overtime to pay and backfill for police to perform the same job?
  16. My fraternity in college looked at doing something similar but the maze of legalities turned us off it. From what I remember it is a lot easier to pull off if your a non-profit organization. Definitely something to look into though... Good luck
  17. Just curious have you looked into the legalities of something like this? aka tax?
  18. Somers new engine. Top Mount Sutphen.
  19. Very interesting as it is usually the other way around. It seems to be working well for them according to the article, I am confused as to what happened to the career ff's. Were they all laid off?
  20. I want one that thing is awesome... good luck on the rest of your project
  21. The bigger question I have is why did 4 of the 7 officers step down?
