I didn't notice that line before either definitely changes my feelings toward this case.... If I was the officer in charge I would never put my people in harms way on a highway without protective blocking. Didn't the command of the State Police work hard to get the new "move over" law passed? didn't they praise the adoption of it? How is trying to prosecute a fire chief for keeping ALL of the emergency responders on the scene safe following the good intent of that law? The point is that whether or not he has the right to say whatever he wants it is a business establishment and customer service should always be priority number one. By the bartender and the manager refusing to appologize they didnt put the customers feelings first. Obviously these patrons were offended and upset and they expressed their concerns and were ignored. As a customer you have the right not to go there and you should exercise that right. There are other bars in Yorktown... Personally I like Murphys better anyway

I took a terrorism class last summer and my instructor brought up some good points. Terrorism is meant to scare and disrupt our population. What better way to do that then bring the fear to our everyday life. According to him one of the scariest scenarios would be bombs in 30 Walmart's across the country or something like that.

Even if no one is listening I feel that they do serve a purpose. It is a chance to re-evaluate the overall plan and tactics for mitigation. 45 Minutes into a fire in a two story single family dwelling and you don't have a handle on the fire makes you think about additional resources or how you can change the tactics to be more effective.

This part of the story is very critical of TFD. I dont see how in this day and age you dont have a respiratory protection program? Do fire departments think they are immune to the wrath of OSHA or PESH? Once again condolences to the families and Tarrytown FD.... Hopefully we all can learn something from this tragedy.

Is it the norm around the area for low attendance from the general public outside of the fire department?

For a town that small why do they need 3 fire districts?
