Anyone have CPR on animals stories to share? http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/offbeat/2011/03/10/moos.cpr.saves.dog.cnn?hpt=C2

haha I know of two friends who did.... We carpooled down and wondered what took him so long lol
-
You could probabally build one with some patience and a couple of months of free time.... oh yeah and a crap load of legos
-
Well if we are going to talk about it what rules were violated?
-
What qualifies someone to be a "tactical medic."?
-
Any reason for the "undercover" look?

I have seen several "chiefs" vehicles being delivered recently that are setup very similar. I don't understand the attraction to them. I feel that they are more dangerous because you don't have the added visibility of the graphics and chevrons. JMHO Anyone have a picture of the back of this new vehicle?
-
Personally, I wouldn't take a picture of a PT under any circumstances... I don't know about the legal issues though
-
cool thanks for the clarification
-
It's a good policy also that if a cop is handcuffing a PT they are riding in the back with you....
-
Interesting thanks for the info... What are the advantages to having the test over the phone list? Civil service status immediately?
-
Just to clarify ( maybe NY10570 can chime in) FDNY is hiring off of the list from the recent test and not through the call list?

Fuel can be an issue at long operations and it's not easy to take some apparatus that is being used on scene for fuel.. that wouldn't make much sense Most local or state highway departments have capabilities that i'm sure you could request. Might be a good idea to find out whats available in your area besides a member shuttling a utility full of diesel cans lol

When was this?

THose "blue boxes" on college campus's are usually more for protection against violent crime.... young women walking at night.
-
Thanks for the update.. Great news that you were able to work it out with the community that you serve!!
-
Wow looks great can't wait to see it finished

I dont see pulling fuses as being that practical... wouldn't you have to go through the fuse diagrams and figure out which one it is?

.They are regular firefighters with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Like posted before they can serve as IC's when other officers aren't available, can fill many essential ICS roles at large incidents (safety officer, PIO, etc.) that combined with the respect aspect is very important in their "identity" in the fire service and on the fireground, leading to the need to easily identify them on scene. Plus after all of the years that they put in a little recognition should be warranted.
-
In the volunteer side that isn't exactly true. There are many members who have moved up through the ranks and "did their time" and returned to being "regular" members who are still active and respond to calls regularly.
-
As the poster above eluded to in the absence of a chief or line officer an on scene ex-chief would be the next highest ranking and assume command.
-
Another important point is that in my volunteer fire dept. Ex-chiefs play a role in the incident command structure.

There could also be possible HIPPA concerns as well in my mind...
