  1. Somers FD recently took delivery of our new Utility 5. This vehicle is assigned to the fire police squad and should serve our department very well. Great job by the commissioners and the members who were involved in the process. It should be in service in the coming weeks once it is finished being equipped.
  2. ohh boy lol
  3. Any more pics on how they stabilized the vehicle?
  4. Where is that button in the rig? lol 3.01 CODE 2- Reduced emergency response, Reduce to and do not exceed posted speed limit. ALL visual devices remain on and audible warning devices must be sounded when approaching or transiting an intersection.
  5. Around here.... Code 3 is lights and sirens Code 2 is lights and "minimal" use of sirens Code 1 is normal flow of traffic My personal oppinnion is that code 2 should be outlawed...
  6. This is an all purpose utility. It is assigned to the fire police because its main purpose is traffic control. It carries a large supply of cones, barricades, flares and the like. This vehicle also will serve as a backup rescue since it will carry our spare hurst tools and cribbing. It also will carry our portable pumps for pumpouts.
  7. Does anyone know if they still do the EMS promotional?
  8. I personally dont care about every fire in upstate NY.... it was great when it was more local with only significant national events. Lately it has become a nuisance instead of a viable news source for me.
  9. Just another example of how you never know whats driving down the road...
  10. Our siren only sounds for reported fires in recent years. In this day and age I assume most depts supply pagers to its members and with the new text messaging (while it isn't perfect) I have to agree that the sirens are kind of out dated. It seems like it is just making a public relations problem and isn't really worth it.
  11. Empress does provide day time coverage when Mohegan doesn't have a duty crew
  12. I understand both sides of the argument here. One problem I see as someone pointed out is the lack of senior members being officers in VAC's. I think that younger members are more available and sometimes more enthusiastic thats why they hold officer positions but experience is needed. I could see a VAC having two Captains one being an "operations" officer and the other being an "administrative" officer. Some people can be a great officer but then there are people who are exceptionally good at the planning and paperwork end of the spectrum. I still feel that everyone in a VAC should be an EMT
  13. Just on a side note in my high school I remember "learning" CPR but I dont remember learning first aid skills.
  14. I always thought that whenever a fire department is called to a scene the IC has control of the property untill it is turned back over ti the owner or another appropriate agency. In a case like this i would have PD respond to deal with the "home owner" and then do our job. I cant seem to find an exact law that adresses the IC having control of the property though. Anyone know if it is "legit" or firehouse lore?
  15. Another interesting story from the EMTbravo history.... http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php/topic/20223-bridgeport-fd-hires-fellon/page__p__103020__hl__felon__fromsearch__1#entry103020
  16. Yeah pictures and maybe cost would be awesome!!
  17. According to the PDF budget that was linked in this thread they responded to 904 calls during the year 2007-2008... - 369 EMS calls - 7 Vehicle Fires - 86 MVA's -123 False alarms - 94 Hazardous conditions (Wires down, Spills etc.) - 97 Service Calls ( pump outs, water leaks, tree hazards) - 14 Outside Fires - 35 Structure Fire Calls (From smoke alarms to fully involved events) Also to note: They gave Mutual Aid 11 times and only received mutual aid twice?
  18. Someone correct me If I am wrong but they do about 900ish calls a year
  19. From my understanding this has been an ongoing problem with this agency... One or two bad apples or incidents I could see the LEO talking to the Chief but this type of behavior seems to be commonplace. An example should be made.
  20. Fox news just played a long segment on the Long Island consolidation story. Definitely something that I think will be discussed seriously here in Westchester next.
  21. We should start by consolidating the consolidation threads Bnechis anymore information about these proposals in Albany?
  22. What exactly is holding them up from giving out the results?
  23. While not smaller... didn't Empire Ambulance have a Hummer H2? Also, I believe Heritage Hills Security/EMS uses Ford Escapes
