  1. I thought it was illegal to mandate that someone disclose their race according to EEOC... Someone correct me if I am wrong.
  2. We have been training on it... News pics will be coming in the next few days
  3. Unfortunately something has to be done... The mount of malicious pulls at the facility is out of control. They are already there because they screwed up but what else can be done?
  4. I also thought that was illegal.. Every test I've taken has always said that is optional. I feel like I am being discriminated against because I am white now.
  5. On the update I called today and was told another 4-6 weeks....
  6. I was planning on calling tomorrow but I am sure I wont get much from them...
  7. So who won the contract? What will the staffing be? Staffing hours?
  8. I havent gotten anything yet...
  9. Cool thanks.. I will have to check the mail when I get home.. Anyone know if they are hiring soon?
  10. Anyone get results yet?
  11. It wouldn't be a problem if communities didn't abuse mutual aid....
  12. They look cool but I'm sure they function the same as any other shears.
  13. Communities that pay for paid staff and coverage shouldn't be sending their ambulance to other communities in my oppinion. I know that in Northern Westchester this has been an issue as of late. If a community is paying to ensure proper coverage for their community that ambulance should stay in that community and not bailing out other agencies who can't guarantee a response. If they can't guarantee a response they should supplement their staffing.
  14. The controls from the bucket... The Controls from the "turntable"
  15. We are in a customer service oriented business.. Look at it from the point of view of the customer. Response time should start when they dial 911 until an appropriate resource arrives on scene.
  16. Great Points and well said... We all know where this discussion is going...
  17. Not to start a fight or anything just a serious question that hopefully we can learn from. With this new Trunked system that the county has spent a lot of money on I thought it was to improve interoperability and communications. Chris maybe you can share some knowledge here but I believe it was Batt. 19? was trying to call the county police helicopter to ask for a visual picture and 60 control said that they didn't have the capabilities to communicate. Does the county aviation units have trunked capability? What about other PD agencies? I know that Field Com 1 can patch channels together but that point is mute since they didn't respond right away. Is there any way for ground units to communicate with aviation units prior to FC1's arrival or "grabbing a county police officer"?
  18. Thanks for the visuals JJB... I was trying to wrap my head around the concept and they made it a lot easier. I know that people getting pinned between the platform and the train is a regular occurence. I am pretty sure it has a name but it is escaping me right now. Anyone have any more details on this type of rescue?
  19. Im trying to get there... hope to see a lot of people there. Keep your head up Vinny!!
  20. I dont think you can fairly judge what his intentions are, this seemed like a relatively harmless post. On the other hand your statements were right off the bat argumentative and attacking. We should be looking at incidents like this and having a healthy albeit heated discussion in the aims of preventing similar situations from developing in the field. It shouldn't be about placing blame and who is right or wrong but how we can improve. That is one of the great things about this website, it allows the different sectors in the emergency services come together and talk about issues and open communication. Of course officer safety should be an important topic to you as is FF and EMS safety is to me, I respect that you are passionate about it.
  21. I for one appreciated the update on a famous case in the emergency services that was well publicized... and I don't have an anti-police agenda??
  22. A quick TI scan never hurts either
