So I had a discussion the other night about the amount of apps that are out there for Emergency Services now.. It seems like everyone has a smart phone and there is a lot of really cool stuff out there. Figured this would be a good place to share what apps you use and/or like. Iphone: Wiser-- Hazmat information CMC Rescue Guide-- Technical and rope rescue information Hazmat Reference (The "ERG") 911 Toolkit FireRescue 1--- News Grog Knots--- Awesome to use when practicing Fire Engineering--- News Fire Calculator--- Easy to use app to figure out the "math" Hybrid Auto Extrication Guide-- Decent Hybrid extrication guide Crash Recovery System Lite--- Pretty much the same program we have in our MDT on the rig but a lot cheaper and easier to use

Cadpage would be awesome for the iphone....

I remember seeing somewhere about two guys who robbed a bank or something.. In the get away car one accidentally butt-dialed 911 while they were talking about their crime...

I couldn't get through reading the first page when this jumped out at me.... If proactive steps are not taken to improve service delivery, there will be an unnecessary loss of life event or an inadequately managed isolated emergency (e.g., mass casualty event) that will create community scrutiny and dissatisfaction leading to forced change.

I might have missed it somewhere, but when was this study done?

Not necessarily.... A lot of agencies that have paid staffing still use VAC...
-
I'm sure the REMSCO police aren't going to come arresst you, but wouldnt this be valuable in court as it would be an accepted industry standard?

I guess they wouldn't accept NY certs...

I respect whatever people believe in.. but what if there is an immediate life risk and lets say a female wasnt available?
-
Absolutely the responsible parties should be billed.. They did something stupid and put a lot of other lives at risk including rescuers, maybe they will think twice next time.
-
After reading the article I am still confused as to why they can't use it? Politics maybe?

In my opinion you shouldn't be trying so hard to have elaborate gas schemes to keep members. A volunteer does it because they like to. Telling someone that they are going to get 40 cents off their gas isn't going to keep that person around. Sometimes all it takes is a thanks for the good job, a couple of t-shirts, maybe a dinner? Just a little bit of recognition and thanks for all the work they do can go along way.
