  1. Why would you need a Chief to call for a medevac? Any competent EMT or Medic should be able to asses the patient and their injuries. I don't see your correlation here?
  2. That was quick... im pretty sure it went online like 10 minutes ago lol
  3. I know that when I take classes in Westchester you get a NYS certificate. Every once in awhile the county offers the national exams to test for firefighter 1 & 2... When I took my Fire Insteuctor class at the state fire academy I took the "national"/ pro board test along with my NYS final exam. I know that they have restructured the officer classes to fall more in line with the national standards which I think is a good thing, and hopefully a move to national standards. I really wish that they would offer the national tests more frequently in Westchester. Hope that helps!!
  4. Wouldn't this information vary by manufacturer?
  5. Kind of a vague statement...can you elaborate on it is better for them?
  6. Good luck Christopher!!!
  7. This is a great point that shouldn't be over looked. Having a different type of ladder could come in very beneficial. Using Somers for example we have a Tower Ladder and a 75 foot quint. The quint can obviously get into different places that the TL can't. In our case its very beneficial in the tight clusters of Heritage Hills.. It all depends on your district but having what sounds like a lot of TL's nearby it might be a good idea.
  8. I have seen large groups of these companies trucks a couple of times in Westchester.
  9. Not exactly true... but if you like Somers Chief cars the district is selling one its outside Headquarters with the info
  10. When is this supposed to start? Its beautiful out now lol

  14. Im not an expert but Battalion cars have numbers in the back window... Looks like that is some sort of Non-Emergency vehicle since it says fire safety and has the yellow lights
  15. I'm sure if he was breaking the law this would be the first place to unload his "stolen" gear......
  16. Why did the county police spokesman have a quote in the article?
  17. We had large American flags on some of our rigs up until recently. We noticed that they were blocking braking and turning signals plus warning lights and decided to remove them. While I think it looks good you can easily have a painted one on the side of your rig and not compromise safety. Our recent deliveries have all had a flag painted on the side.
  18. I have personally worked with Nick and he is a great guy and very dedicated. This really is a loss for Irvington.
  19. Im sure we was talking about the people NOT actively driving the rig and riding on top of the rig... Of course someone has to drive it.. The guys from what appears to be Bogota, NJ really are acting like idiots.
  20. Just to note FASNY received a SAFER grant this year for volunteer recruitment and retention... I believe those tv commercials on the Internet were a product of this
  21. Im not a legal expert but I would make a good faith decision and render care to someone who isnt in the care of someone else... When you arrive on the scene of an MVA with the FD what are your first priorities? I assume life safety is number 1.
  22. I totally agree hence the "...."
