I'd rather have one armed EMT then two helpless EMT'S That have to wait for Police or plead for the people to stop as they beat them... Maybe you're just anti-gun or have a liberal hard on.. But ARMED EMTS=LESS TIMES BEING ASSAULTED... Pretty sure no one is going to assault you when you pull out a handgun unless you're just good ole stupid.

Apologies in a advance if this starts a battle......Not that being armed would have made a difference because we certainly wouldn't enter a scene with weapons drawn, but, I think we are in a time where EMS, and even fire personnel should be allowed to conceal carry if they wish to do so. Of course all appropriate legal measures would have to be taken and a safety class should be taken before an employer would allow such a circumstance. But I know, EMS is EMS, PD is PD etc etc. But, people are crazy, and PD don't always respond to EMS calls.

I grew up on L.I. and my father was a member of a neighboring dept to Jericho. Jericho is a very affluant fire district and department, who recently built a 12 million $ three story headquarters across the street from their existing headquarters. The vehicle in the photo reads Jericho Fire district.. It is a commioners vehicle, not a chiefs car. Unless perhaps used a spare chiefs car, it does not generally respond to alarms. It is merely a commissoners perk, that you see commonly with district commioners on L.I. Some these districts own more than one of these rigs, and others even own one ton dump trucks to plow snow at the stations. Instead of induring the purchase cost and lifetime maintenance costs on a specific commonioners free taxi cab-limo to use to attended a few confernces, the commisioners could maybe use their own vehicles and get re-imbursed for their milage. They way some of these departments operate fiscally gives you alot to look at.

I used to have a ton of Code 3's, and die cast fire apparatus replicas, too many too list. I finally decided that my home was permanent enough to take them all out of their boxes and put them into a perfect display case I found at a used store fixture place. As soon as that was completed, I was served divorce papers (unrelated to that, lol), everything was thrown into the garage damaging many pieces and my firematic man cave made into a guest bedroom very quickly.
Now they are just siting in boxes in my moms garage in Texas. Don't know if I'll ever have a place again where I can display them, and I had to throw away all the boxes they came in and the display case. If they weren't in Texas, I'd probably sell as many as I could, but probably will just end up bequeathing them to a museum or something.
I miss them.
And Steve, wow!

I have never sat down and taken inventory, but off hand I would say that I have about one hundred or so Code 3's. Not all of them were bought for display, probably half were picked up cheap as parts donors for kitbash projects. I never limited myself to Code 3's, I also like Corgi and Matchbox, and I have a lot of older diecast from the 1960's in my collection. The only thing I limit myself to is size or scale. I have nothing larger than 1:43, and nothing smaller than 1:64. Right now, my entire collection is packed away.
I also have a lot of lesser-known makes in my collection, such as Tekno (Danish), Conrad (German), Dinky (British), Replex (French), Solido (French), Minichamps (German), Siku (German), Tomica (Japanese), RAF (Russian), Lledo (British), and Ashton (American). Here are a couple of pictures of my wall cabinet. As you might be able to see, there are very few Code 3's displayed. These were taken ten years ago in my old house:

I don't know exactly how many I have - been a while since I attempted any kind of inventory - but I have a decent amount dating back almost to day one of the company. Fell on hard times a few years back and had to curtail my collecting, but hope to be able to fill in the blanks of what had to be passed up somewhere down the road.

Ah good old Roberts. Remember to try everything on. Alot of their stuff are seconds and they are over priced. Will work in a jam but selection is very slim.

The rebuild already has a motto:
Jersey had "Stronger Than The Storm.
The Mayor has proposed "Better Than The Blaze.
Heard it this afternoon.

I found an article on the Neptune "Super Pumper System" in Gloucester County, NJ, (http://www.firefightingnews.com/article.cfm?articleID=23865) which is draft capable and comes with a hose tender with 1 mile of 12 inch flexible supply line. It is also foam capable at up to 10,000 gpm. Anyone know was this considered or deployed considering the issues with main pressure? (Not Monday morning quarterbacking just asking a question)
