They have been losing cities for the past several months. We lost them in Boston a couple months ago....sucks.

Very interesting. I have never driven a V-10 on a truck chassis, I wonder if it has similar performance to the diesels. I assume not. Gas engines have probably increased in reliability over the years, but will you get the life and durability of a diesel in a gas engine? Not to mention all the companies/garages that have diesel tanks that might have to maintain two fuels or covert to gas tanks.

Did they think they were going through an Express EZPass lane in NJ? Were they both talking on cell phones?

Nice rig, I always found the Frazer Bilt rigs interesting. If I am not mistaken, it makes remounts really much easier. As a side, looking at the other new deliveries, there are a fair number of gasoline engines. Is this more common in the South?

Lots of good comments. My thoughts: - What are current average response times from your agency, the Univ PD and the transporting agency? - Are the Univ PD officers medically trained? Will they initiate treatment? If the patient is getting care in a matter of two to three minutes and transport within eight, what does the response vehicle offer? (Obviously it can carry more equipment/supplies than any person can carry around campus attending classes.) - Would having the vehicle centrally located require a driver to respond to the vehicle and increase his response time to the scene for equipment that might or might not be needed? - Campus layout, is a vehicle around campus be feesible, or is most of campus walkways? - How likely are you to get an increase in funding? In terms of budget, budget some money each year towards a replacement vehicle. That way when the vehicle needs to be replaced, it's not one big expense, you will have money set aside already. - On the plus side, having a vehicle with supplies will be nice at stand-bys like football games, or anything outdoors. I often wondered the same, why have lights on the cab of large vehicles. I put this out there, it offers better 360 visibility. If an engine is working a scene on the highway, and is blocking a lane, the cars 100, 200m back in traffic can see that there is scene set up. Also, if there is a line of vehicles, say at a traffic light, or just volume on the highway, having the lights above the traffic might be enough for the people in the front of that line of cars some indication that there is an emergency vehicle in the back trying to make their way through. This is assuming that 1) the hear the vehicle and 2) they are paying attention to the environment around them (ie. looking in their rear view mirror occasionally). The reality is that people don't pay attention, they have the radio cranked, or the cell phone in hand and you need that extra warning (lights/siren/horn) to get their attention when you are right behind them.

Props to FDNY, NYPD, PAPD Coast Guard, NY Waterways and Circle Lines. The pilot gets major kudos for the landing. From the news reports, they had little or no power as they turned over the Hudson. None the less, the pilot and crew executed major skills to get the plane down in one piece and everyone out safe. I heard on the news the plane is near shore down by Battery Park, wow!

Two other factors, and this will probably spark debate/discussion: - The Japanese auto makers with factories in the US are probably employing non-union employees - The Japanese auto makers with factories in the US are not carrying 100,000's retired employees. GM alone is paying benefits for over 340,000 retired employees.

I read this article in the news this morning and thought it is a terrific idea. Great PR for the hardware store, the restaurant and great PR for KFD. Kudos for pulling everyone together! If it just saves one life it is well worth it ! Even though it reached only a few households, I hope the PR has raised awareness so that everyone will check their own detectors, or contact their local experts to ensure their family and homes are safe. What a way for the community to get to know KFD. Great job !
