Prayers for his entire family. Mr. Matthews will be missed and remembered in Greenburgh as well as other communities he established friendships. I'm sure Bill Matthews had many proud moments in his life of service. The above photo is one of those moments. Bless Him.

Due Regard Next time you are responding say to yourself " Am I showing Due Regard for the motorist that I request the right of way from?" I agree with Alsfirefighter. His post used strong words ,but when responding so much can go wrong even when we are careful. BE safe

Expiration date. Authorization signature. I feel the Signature is very important. It holds the card as a document .If it is not valid and still used , the person displaying the card is using it improperly. The expiration shows the member to be somewhat current. also photo,,smile

Signal 10-20 holds many different and complex meanings to each department in Westchester. If the signal means "Proceed with Caution",,, I hope every apparatus driver is already being cautious with todays busy intersections and distracted drivers. If it means...." well slow down a little because everthing is ok at the scene" but leave the 80 milllion strobes and LED lites "on" and only use the siren a little. This could be a problem. IMO if a Chief / Officer on location deems a situation not an emergency ,,,,apparatus should drive in a non emegency mode. this will ensure DUE reguard to all motorists,,, as the lawer will say "the emergency was over".This mode is simple ,,,drive with normal traffic ,,, obey red signals , no crossing the double yellow line. I know every call is different, such as an alarm with burnt toast may require a smoke ejector but not take all day to get there! This is why plain english will be better than a vague code. Apparatus accidents are investgated like watergate. Nothing gets over looked.LOL Does your department turn off the warning lights if the emergency is over at the location of alarm or incident. BE safe and keep up the good work

The former Senate Hook & Ladder Ossining FD a 1963 Maxim Aerial was driven to Port Chester HARRY HOWARD possibly to be used by PCFD ,, while Ladder 31 is tested and checked for repairs. The Chiefs of OFD and Port Chester are discussing the deal. =D>

On the news they said he is the firefighter seen climbing a ground ladder to hang an American Flag at the Trade Center on Sept.11 th 2001. Prayers for his family !

I remember the original reason for the county having 46.14 mgz. was for the Coordinators. Is this still the proper channel for them? If not ,,, Couldn't 46.14 mgz be used more often by moblie radios on a scene.Years ago that channel was a "Back Up" for 26 and you should not use it because it was for the County cars! My opinion may be more of a post about radios ,, but really I'm tring to say these progress reports must be from the IC not the Battolion M/A coordinator.
