Years before Specialty Warning Systems ...... The interior of the Faiview FD (Greenburgh) Duty Officers Car looked like this. This set up was done inhouse and was modern for its day ... 1976 or 1977.

That control box moved the clear spot light built into the top of the Twin Sonic ,, above the speaker housing. This was done instead of the "A" post - hand held (manual) style.

Yes , every street in the district with exact location of the house by number is shown. All hydrants are indicated and floor plans of commercial buildings. These are updated of course ,,and scanned in the toughbooks that are in the rigs today.

I also have thought of that ! It seems because of Life safety. While a Fire alarm alerts occupants to leave the building , often in a fast moving fire traps them. Burglar alarms - as opposed to Panic alarms are designed to scare off criminals. Just my opinion. I see your point.

Very interesting , good work Ed. I also remember reading that the First Line of Duty Death of a Police Officer occurred in Dobbs Ferry. A patrolman was walking on the sidewalk after a wind storm, he noticed a wire on the ground from a newly installed street light. Being unaware of the danger that an electic wire can cause, he picked it up. Very tragic ending. Book about Weschester Police http://www.amazon.com/Westchester-County-P...a/dp/0738509515
