What does HVP cover these days. I left before the name change, and loss of Putnam. Are they just doing transport or do they have contracts in the region?

I am in need to replace my diving camera. I have had to much trouble with the Olympus FE-230 that I have used for the last 2 years. I am looking to replace it with something a whole lot better off. I have finally decided to spend a bit of cash on it and would like to see what others have used and recommend. Thanks!

I am looking for anyone who has the newer yellow Stryker chair with the treads who either have purchased the O2 holder or made a holder that can accommodate an o2 bottle under the chair. I am looking for pictures as well as approx cost. I don't think that the $100 price tag will be appealing to the powers that be, so I must show some other options. Thanks

Anyone else from the area heading down to Montgomery County?

From what I have heard, again only word of mouth, is that this test is not in the courts, that the 99 and 02 tests were the ones being challenged by the DOJ. Can anyone comment on that?

Hackensack has taken over the MICU contracts and area. Last I heard the PVH medics are holding things down until this weekend.

Anything further on this accident?

The newest fight and recommendations for lights at the scene is Amber. There have been studies with placing just one Amber light and that being the only light lit when parked at an incident. I have to say I am a little skeptical about that. But something needs to be placed as a standred. Just the other night I saw two cars with a van pulled over. Both of the PD cars were parked at a 40 degree angle to protect the officer and person they had pulled over, great. However when you came over the crest of the hill to see this you immediately got blinded by the alternating head lights, clear strobes in the grill, blue, red and clear light bar. It was just after dusk and I can say I wasn't able to see for 10 seconds.

This time I see CT has changed their CPAT. It costs more and now they are offering two practice tests? If you pass the practice test does that count for the real thing?

But we have all see the mad rush of people trying to sneak behind the vehicle with lights and sirens right after it passes so they can jump forward as much as possible using that vehicle as a way the clear the way. I can see someone pulling over for the cop but then pulling right back into the way of the ambulance.

Who sells or does the tailoring to put a zipper behind the buttons on out button down shirts?

The use, more like the Abuse, of lights and sirens makes me ill and fearful. Cross the border into NJ. Almost Every Single patient goes to the hospital Lights and Sirens. Almost every agency has their own set of rules to transport. 99% will ignore the Medics request and Order to go without lights and sirens. We all know 99.9999% do not require lights or sirens. Most of the time not even an ambulance. Going lights and sirens is not only dangerous, but also helps instill in peoples heads, I will get there faster if I call 911 for this ingrown toe nail. As far as the Following of the ambulance Lights and Sirens that is just unneeded and once again an undo risk to everyone involved. I just love seeing an ambulance pull up with all their warning devices going, and then open the side door and have the patient walk out into the waiting room. Am I missing something here? I am under the mind set of Me, My Partner and then everyone else. Why kill yourself getting to a call or to the hospital when the medical condition doesn't warrant it. I wish I could hand someone a bus token and say "You do not need an ambulance today, here is a ride to the hospital."

For a city that seems to have money relying on the Volunteers that have needed paid supplementation just seems odd. I know they already have a completely paid FD.
-
I have heard and seen other projects do things a little different. They employee these Parking Enforcement Officials. When the volunteers are not about to assemble a crew, these officials respond to the ambulance and operate the call. Another though I would be in favor of is having a combination of both paid and volunteer. But the volunteers must be held to the same level as a paid crew would. Lets say the shift begins at 0600, the crew must call in and be accounted for by the dispatching agency. That way long before grandma falls down and goes boom it is known if there is a crew or not.

Volunteers should not go the way of horse and buggy. Volunteers represent a very very solid and needed part of our system. EMS, Fire and PD are way too expensive for each municipality who needs one to have one paid. When the volunteers are there, and united under semi decent leadership they do the right thing and preform a vital service. Either be it fire, or EMS. We need them, but when the times comes that it doesn't work something needs to be done.

and until you start telling people over the phone, YOU DO NOT NEED AN AMBULANCE BECAUSE YOU ARE 27 AND HAVE A FEVER the abuse will continue. Another thing that helps with that is a lot of agencies that use Lights and Sirens to the hospital for crap calls. Adding to the misconception that calling 911 for an ambulance gets you treated faster at the ED. And we all have heard it said, You come in by an ambulance to get seen faster, much higher occurrences in urban areas.

The Putnam paging you speak of only takes about what 5 min or so for the decision of Medic 3 or 4 taking the job? And that stands for everyone, a central dispatch for an entire county, what a wonderful concept.

That sounds true for most of NJ. I am hearing that these stipends are provided to volunteers by their respects corps, and some of them are substantially large for little work. How can they hold the title of Volunteers with they receive stipends of 5-10k a year? Here is one better New Milford NJ has issues answering ambulance calls with volunteers. They back up their failing system with the use of Holy Name Hospitals new BLS division. Here is the kicker. From the hours of 0600 and 0700 they are required to be in the town Monday thru Friday. After 0700 they must leave the town and not drive through the area. When a job comes in between 0600 and 0700 it is given directly to the Holy Name Ambulance. After 0700 they tone the volunteers, wait 5 min, Tone them again, wait 8 min, tone a third time wait 5 min, then call Holy Name's ambulance. That is just a little ridiculous. But just my .02

The issue with UMDNJ expanding is the fact that Booker has them under a microscope right now. And the State has them strung so tight with the recent scandles steming from missing money. I do not see towns steping in and helping us keep our jobs, I also do not see Newark adding any extra units to the area. Politicans do not see the need to put their necks out for something they Might need. The two northern trucks that are affected, covering Bellville, Nutley and North Newark, Kearny, Harrison, Lyndhurst, East Newark and North Arlington have so much competition to their East, West, and South. UMDNJ, JCMC, Atlantic, But in NJ the system is odd in such in order for MONOC to be replaced as the MICU provider there are many and tough situations that must be met. A company like Trans Care can't just walk in and offer the towns ALS, at least not that I know of.
