If I am not mistaken the Consolidation Plan submitted several years ago consisting of around 10 willing Departments and District would have put as many as 26 men and on the scene in 6 minutes on three engines, two ladders , a heavy rescue and Incident Commander , the location of this fire was a perfect example. The craziest part of the whole plan would have been the closest firehouse to the call responded, despite municipal boundaries could you imagine that ?????

Will staffing studies be an annual event in New Rochelle ?
-
How about all times New Rochelle sends out Mutual Aid and never says a thing

January is not prime leave time in career Departments , what will they do in July/August ?????

It is just Gov. Cuomo preparing for his run for President in 2020, this will attract the enviormental crowd and his recent appearance with Bernie to announce free college tuition in New York State will attract those who believe that.

Some New Rochelle Fire Houses are over 100 years old and I am certain had this house not been in a prime renewal location it too would have become 100 years old in 2066

Lesson learned for the Fire Service on limited access highways and interstates, position a blocking apparatus between on coming traffic and operating units. Know how to slant blocking rig to deflect a vehicle away from the troops should it be struck. Better yet shut down traffic, at least till the emergency phase of operation is under control,

Bet that tractor trailer tiller job needed a new paint job on one side and new plastic lens for the warning lights.

Wonderful guy and a great Chief Officer, really "into the job" New Rochelle is very fortunate to have Bob Benz in a leadership role.

In NYC it seems that private ambulances may take advantage of their status and proceed lights and siren when just on transports in order to get thru traffic, could this be possible ???

What would happen if the old cherry wood night stick made a comeback< it kept bad guys at bay and intiminated folks and was something that could repel a quick attack as was the case with the old lady in the BX.

I can not believe Chicago witched over, it didn't seem that Dawson, Mouch and Severide had any problems with the Scotts
-
Drive thru ???? How will anyone know how to back up
-
Ironic that Boston is the first major Department to break away from Scott, as it was Chief Leo Stapleton and the BFD along with NASA back in the 70's helped create the Scott 4,5 certainly improved of the years, is still the mainstay of most Department

Is this considered making a terrorist threat

Why don't they just go out with a bag of badges and hand them out and get rid of all these pesky requirements. Love the reasoning behind this

Now that we have all these side dramas= a Rye Brook suit, trustees not signing paperwork and now a seemingly damning tape , where do. we stand with getting the PC8 their jobs back????
-
Look this issue will not solve the labor problems in America, how about we concentrate on the Port Chester eight and see if their jobs and families can't be saved. Perhaps a luminary from the AFL_CIO or someone like Eddie Doyle from the Teamsters can approach the Volunteerrs and reason with them, Because with out the Vollies full cooperation this plan can not work nor would they like to get jammed up with their Locals or parent Unions
-
It was obvious from the start that no Village Board would have done this without assurances from the Volunteers, that they could pick up the duties of the Paid Firefighters and fulfill the Rye Brook contract. How many of the Vollies are AFL-CIO or Teamster members . How could they be party to putting fellow Union members and their families"out in the street". Remember the Port Chester local is part of the AFL-CIO
-
They need bulletproof vests, "Gangbangers" know that if CFD is treating a gunshot, the victim is probably not dead, so they would have no problem driving by again to finish the job and anyone else getting hit wouldn't bother them.
-
If Rye Brook presently has eight firefighters and they picked up the eight dismissed firefighters from Port Chester and paid their salaries with the million they no longer have to give the PCFD. That would give them . 16 members on the Department, the same number of career firefighters many of the smaller jobs in Westchester have right now give or take a few ===Larchmont, Pelham Harrison, Pelham Manor etc. When appropriate officers could be developed from the group, ie One Captain, three Lieutenants and twelve firefighters on 24. hours a day coverage A four person or three person shift could take care of the vast majority of smells and bells calls before the need for mutual aid. The benefit for Rye Brook would be a professional Department for about what they are paying now without having to deal with the contract and any future PCFC drama ,additionally, they would get fully trained veteran firefighters well versed in their Department and community. ( they work there now) The eight Port Chester firefighters would again be employed and their families protected. I think it would be worth a conversation. it could really be a win-win-win all around.
-
Sorry to hear that a collusion is suspected. How about Rye Brook picking up the eight PCFD firefighters and giving their area 24 hour fire protection for the same or nearly the same million dollars they are now paying Port Chester. They could be self sufficient and escape from the annual contract drama.

Any Career Firefighter from other Departments volunteering in Port Chester must resign forthwith, The volunteer members must ban together and think of a sane way to reverse this situation, as they hold the upper hand in this battle, Remember Port Chester is a densely populated compressed community with a high fire risk not some pristine Norman Rockwell community,
