As a national company, they have a lot of financial resources behind them. Private companies in the area shouldn't brush them off.

I saw 2 of their cars in Monroe earlier in the week. It confused me too. At first, I was like "what the hell is the NYPD doing in Monroe?"

EMT111, I heard the same thing about the pissing match going on between the Cuomo and De Blasio. I was told that this is the reason for the color changes.

As far as I know, they SOD EMTs & Paramedics do not wear this patch on their uniforms. They have a uniform that is different than non-SOD employees, but they wear the standard Empress patch on their sleeve

In honor of Rockland County native and FDNY Battalion Chief Michael Fahy who was tragically killed yesterday in an explosion of an illegal drug lab in the Bronx, our department vehicles will be displaying a red line across the rear windows of our patrol vehicles in his memory. This was the idea of PO Andrew Yorke and he was assisted by PO Mike Careswell, K-9 Officer Lou Venturini, Sgt. Rick Marsh and Sgt. Dave Tarantino. We greatly appreciate Chief Fahy's as well as all firefighters service to their communities. - Chief Osborn In honor of FDNY Battalion Chief Fahy, we at the Suffern PD would like to extend our condolences and support to Firefighters everywhere. Thin Red Line's have been placed on the rear window of our cruisers to show our love. It's the least we could do after Suffern FD has been flying Thin Blue Line flags from their apparatus to support us in trying times. - In this brotherhood, nobody fights alone - Police Officer Andrew Yorke

Police vehicles are not required to have DMV plates in NY, however, many municipal agencies have chosen to get official plates for their vehicles. Fire District vehicles in NY do not have to have DMV plates either, but many fire districts chose to have put them on their vehicles, especially the Chief's vehicles.

I think the main thing comes down to cost of these types of ambulances. Many of the private companies want to take the cheapest route possible.

My wife was cut off and almost run off the road last week on the Thruway in Orange County, by a van owned by an FD on Long Island.
