AMR in Florida is an absolute shitshow to deal with. Speaking from being there in their coverage area, I don't think I've ever seen a more dysfunctional operation. And I worked for Care1. Employees buy their own uniforms. Hours cut out of no where. Just a number to the time clock. I've heard the complaints and it's pretty crazy seeing them pull into WCMC.

You seem bitter.

If you're in northern Westchester near the Putnam / Orange line in lets say Peekskill, Cortlandt Manor or so... You can always request Fort Montgomery which has a large quantity of large diameter hose on a reel.
-
I am pretty aware of what's going on and it seems that people have a hardon for that company either because they're wearing a different colored shirt or because they worked there.

Fort Montgomery Tanker 423 is going to be a KME custom made pumper-tanker. It will replace the 1976 Ward La France custom pumper-tanker in service.

First, I'll start by saying that the fact that it is sad that very skilled and experienced paramedics are losing money because of someone else's mistake. There's no way to officially know who is at fault. I use the word officially because unless you're an administrator at Care1 or an official with the Regional EMS Council(s) or the State DOH BEMS all you can do is speculate and even if you were in one of those three catagories, I doubt seriously that you would be on here discussing this. That brings me to my second point. The rumor mill. I noticed a few 'speculative' posts before mine here and I just want to say that those who know nothing should say nothing. Instead of gossiping and talking trash about another company, how about we work to correct the completely screwed up method in which things are done by the EMS system in place in this state? EMTs being limited due to the fact they can't carry certain equipment because it's too expensive or because people are too concerned with their own agencies losing business. We do what's right for patients, not what's right for business. Period.

Not to sound off topic here, but when I was driving home from Headquarters after doing my background investigation for EMS I was doing the math in my head for what it costs to be fingerprinted at Headquarters. It costs $91.50 to be fingerprinted there. Now multiply that by the amount of people who come in and get that done. There's something like 1450 people on my list.. That's over 132 thousand dollars. Where does this money go? Now think about the fire academy candidates and how many people go through it.. That's a lot of money. Enough to save more than a few jobs. It's over 2 million dollars.

I went down to Headquarters yesterday for my background. Went well. Met my investigator, got my fingerprints done(Holy s***, $91.50 for fingerprints).. and got to walk around a little bit getting my paperwork in line. Any idea what's next and what it entails?

Rest in peace, we'll take it from here.

Empress, Mobile Life Support Services or TransCare would be my suggestion(Care1 EMS is a sinking ship). If you're really hard up and live in the Hudson Valley, there's always hope in CT or in NYC for SeniorCare, Citywide, Lifeline or one of many EMS transport agencies.

About 3 hours total. I was one of the first to be processed.

For anyone who's currently in the process, I just got my letter for the physical agility test today. It's scheduled for June 2nd.

Very sad. I have friends and family on the job and I would hate to see any of them lose their careers and the ability to take care of their families all because a bunch of the city head honchos won't take a small pay cut to float the damn budget. It's a crying shame, and highway robbery in my opinion.

I only ask because I'm on the FDNY list for Exam 2004 and I'm trying to figure out the numbers. Just how many people they're trying to hire, ect. I mean, I don't want anyone to lose a job. Luckily they're unionized so that even if they lose their job at one, they could potentially roll over to another union shop. God willing.
-
I heard a bunch of people talking about voluntary hospital EMS programs closing shop and turning back over to the city. Now with EMS Exam 2004 being called up within the next few months, how much impact does the hospitals closing impact the staffing of FDNY*EMS? How many units are currently operated by Hospitals that run 911 in the city?

Any idea which houses are in danger of being closed? And if infact they do get closed, where does the personnel go from these closures? I mean, obviously filling holes in other houses... But at some point I'm sure there wont be any holes to fill, right? Just curious. I pray it doesn't come to this.

Well put

I pulled #199. I was told that we would be getting contacted via telephone/mail soon regarding physical/mental/ect examinations by a friend that's down there. I hope this is the case.
