Check out youtube on a search using "Thamesford Fire-Lessons Learned"
It is one of the best critiques I have ever seen.
Sorry I had to give you a phrase to search, but for some reason, I couldn't give you a link but my computer is giving me a hard time

One thing I would now advocate which is different to what I was taught and did is to don your facepiece on the ground ascend the ladder and then take the window. The old way of taking the window with the ladder then ascending the ladder then donning your facepiece is just extra time allowing the fire to grow. Once inside the first thing you should do is to get the door to the room closed. These things will buy you more time for your search. VEIS is a good tactic especially in a situation like VBFD faced here. Seems like VB has their act together thanks for sharing.

Unprofessional would be department's not getting off of 46.26 when everyone else is on a trunk frequency, or there's is an actual run or a job ongoing or getting on the radio to give your noon time test when companies are currently on a run or just finishing up. This guy just decided to man up and say what a lot of us are already thinking!

As an AIrcraft Rescue Firefighter, let me shed some light to this issue....
Even though it is more than definitely an accident scene, it is ALWAYS a crime scene. When the proper investigation authority comes in (FAA if the aircraft weighs less than 12,500lbs, NTSB if 12,500lbs or more), they're expecting to know abslutely everything about the accident. They want to know what position the throttle was in, which switches were in what position, what you did to mitigate the situation, the size of everybody's boots, what years your gloves were manufactured, etc. Literally everything! It is a crime scene! There are very few exceptions to where you can deviate from the federal regulations regarding aircraft accidents (such as local sherriff or police have authority to remove an aircraft from major roadways before FAA is on scene).
Since it is an accident, the local fire and EMS authorities will have jurisdiction until the scene is stabilized, then command is tranferred police officials once all hazards have been deemed safe and all victims have been transported. Mind you, even though the police have taken over, it's still every agencies' responsibility for the scene and what happened.
Let's look at the Cessna 206 that crashed behind MBIA in Armonk. When the crash initially occured, it was Armonk FD & EMS in charge. Once the fire was out and all vicitms were deemed DOA, the situation was handed over to North Castle PD. However, the property actually belonged to the NYC DEP, so DEP Police guarded the scene while FAA and NTSB responded for the investigation (NTSB always investigates fatal accidents). Once the FAA and NTSB were done, the DEP PD were in charge of the removal of the aircraft remains.
In Short, treat an aircraft accident as an MCI, and always treat as a crime scene (BECAUSE IT IS ALWAYS A CRIME SCENE!). Preserve the scene as best as you can and assist the FAA/NTSB in every way you can.

You're comparing TDMA on a commercial cellular network to TDMA on a public safety grade P25 system...apples and oranges. Judging by your post, you've likely never experienced a P25 Phase II TDMA system with an APX radio. I have with Rockland's new system, and the fact is that Phase II TDMA with the AMBE+2 vocoder actually has better audio quality than Phase I FDMA with the IMBE vocoder. That's what it really comes down to, the quality of the vocoder determines the quality of the audio, and AMBE+2 is much improved over IMBE. Is the audio quality as good as 25 kHz analog? Of course not, no one is arguing that point. But for you to talk about signals on cell phones being bad, and somehow making the case for that being directly comparable to a P25 system, misses the mark.
No one is arguing that point. The NFPA has been warning against the use of both digital and trunking for fireground communications for years, and with good reason. Fireground communications should follow the KISS principle, and should be analog simplex, period. Rockland is leaving fireground on UHF simplex, and I suspect so will Westchester. It sounds like you're under the impression that interior ops are going to take place on a digital trunked system...that is not the case.
It cuts both ways. A well designed trunked system can actually improve coverage in some cases. How many times have guys been on portable on one of those "basic systems", and they're all static because the signal can't reach the receiver 5 miles away?
If we're going to have a discussion about these digital systems (which aren't going anywhere, by the way), let's at least be fair and deal with the facts.

The CSP system you linked to is a Motorola Type II, which is the same as the current Westchester system. The new CSERN system is P25, however it's Phase I not Phase II.
Rockland's new 700 MHz system is P25 Phase II, which is what Westchester (and Orange) are looking to implement.

Uniden has introduced ( available January 2014) two new scanners. The BCD536HP and BCD436HP that will be P25 Phase II TDMA capable.

You will need a scanner capable of scanning APCO P25.

Current E259 will be retired (its a 1984 Pierce). E260 will become the spare. The new Engine will be assigned to DP Hayes Hose in place of E260. Unsure what number the new engine will take (my guess is E90)

Wish I could, but no money, or place to store. My Homeowners Association would flip their lid (it was bad enough when I had the chief's car)

They keep raising the parkway and it keeps sinking. The material under the parkway can't handle the weight in that area. The water will always win. Pilings need to be driven into the ground for a causeway so the water can stay under the parkway. The State will never go for it because it is expensive.
That's not the only road in the area that needs work. The infrastructure around here is old.

For everyone out there, thank you for your responses. The leading response for us right now is to use Car 2592, but there's always the chance that my boss will make up his own anyway. Thank you again, and continue doing what you do best!

Could he use "Car 2592" instead of just "2592"? That should satisfy the requirements you listed.

IMO I think this sign is directed towards people that like to find their car by activating the alarm which I have done before but not at Empire City. I know horses can get spooked by those types of sounds since the lot is close to the track so to me it kind of makes sense. The sign doesn't say you can't arm the alarm.

    To answer your questions,
While there may be an option for an extended cab you don't need it with an F series. There is plenty of room for the driver and front passenger.
This F series chassis is higher than the E series. It is at the limit of the load height for our stretchers. This truck is equipped with rear air suspension (which makes for a nice ride in the back) that lowers the rear doors to a manageable height for loading and unloading.
Yes that is a camera in the patient compartment. It functions just like a back-up camera, CCTV not recorded and must be manually activated to view.
