The other issue is there is always an issue of flu shot shortages. There may be an extra burden on the flu resources during the season when the strain mutates and if they make HCP first up that may be an issue. I also just feel that the flu shot isn't a vaccine because there's no guarantee it will prevent you from getting the flu or carrying a strain of the flu. It just lessens your chances. I wonder how my employer will deal with this as I am not getting the shot. Also I want to see what the checks are to make sure those who don't have shots wear mask and the repercussions if you don't wear mask. What if I don't wear a mask will I lose my EMT cert or what? This is just a really interesting mandate because there's options and due to HIPAA isn't there some privacy amongst what vaccinations I have etc.

Agreed. Fire 259X is great for airport ops and then use a separate designation when dealing with 60 Control if need be. Isn't so hard to remember to use two different designators.

"Arbrow06", I hope when you do land a job you let us know how things turned out.
I notice that on your profile, you list "EMT". Like somebody said, a future with the FDNY/EMS might not be a bad choice. I'm sure you get more pay if you move onto a paramedic, and if you wanted there are promotional opportunities if you apply yourself. I'm sure they also offer decent medical coverage and a decent retirement package.
With a city of 7 or 8 million people, there will always be a need for EMS. It's tough work but I'm sure helping people everyday gives some job satisfaction. Of course the cost of living is very high in the NYC area.
Here's something else to consider. If you decide to buy a home, think about a two family. I did that at age 26 and had no idea on how to be a landlord. But somehow it worked out. I had help paying my mortage, got a decent tax write off every year, and now with the house fully paid off, that rental income is sure nice. It worked out so good that I ended up buying another two family about two miles from my house. My brother now rents one of the apartments and that house is also fully paid for.
I've had to take only one person to court in about 40 years. I found that if I give the tennants a $25.00 rebate for early rental payments, I don't have to chase them for the money. It works out great for all of us.
So because I think I may have made a few right moves in my life, I've given you my lifes story. I would do everything all over again if I had the chance. For me now staying healthy is what I try to do, but money is not something I worry about. I am not trying to play the role of a millionaire because I am not. I worked for everything I have. But it's nice to be able to enjoy retirement without money problems. I just wanted to share my story with you and other younger members on here.

The thing that confuses me about the logistics that all of the manually operated train systems in many countries with this system this place disprove that as an issue. I think it is a great idea.
1. It improves straphanger safety with such a long population of NYers with mental illness, racist tendancies like the woman from the other day, suicidal people. This improvement takes alot of liability off of the MTA's hands significantly.
2. Track safety will be greatly improved and the cleanliness of the tracks will increase now that there is no direct access to the tracks. If you belong there you will have access otherwise you won't.
This would be a great investment. The installation and purchase of these devices can stimulate job growth and support local industry. This is definitely a smart move. Now to keep the stations and the trains looking sharp and keeping employees motivated.

Was out in Hackensack and a bunch of Hackensack EMS guys and gals were getting some dinner at a pizza shop. The one closest went on a call shortly after. These look like rigs 194 and 191 I believe. Wish I could have gotten a better picture but I was on the run.
