Question For X635 .... Do you have any idea what equipment is on a Ladder? YHFD Ladder ? will have ever thing a Truck Co needs. All the hand, power tools, ropes, ground ladders ( already more then NFPA req.) fans, lighting, and more. There is one thing the new ladder will not have on it and that is a rescue tool (Hurst tool) we already have two rigs with a full set up. As far as the Tower Ladder 95' yes this is just talk right now. The Next rig to be replaced will be the Rescue. ( don't ask anything about it ) Rescue is the next one for replacement in the cycle. There are no plans and no idear what it will be. We want to get the new Ladder in and in service before we even sit down and talk about it. For thoses who question what will be on the new Ladder all I have to say is come and see Engine 270, 273, 271 and MA-8 Yorktown take pride in placing the right equipment for the job on our apparatus. But don't make any mistake we don't set them up for parades. We set them up to work. Just ask any WCPJ.

x635, Yorktown was also talk to the sales person but when we told him our height we needed, he told us to Build a new building or cut the opening. Well the opening is as big as it gets and we all know about a new FH in Yorktown. Besides it's a Pierce. If it was up to me i would give our last one (275) away.

No not a new one. It would be a used tower ladder. But like I said that's just talk right now. With any luck the new ladder truck will be in by the summer of 2005.

we are going with a straight stick (rear mount 100' low pro) when the new truck has been in service for 1 1/2 to 2 year the 68 may be gone and put in it's place a 10 year old Seagrave/ Aerialscope 95' But remember this is all still up in the air. The next rig to be replaced is R-16 and that will be started as soon as the new ladder is in. Yes when R-16 is replaced it will be RED.

Sorry But Ladder 51 will remain in service in Yorktown. When the old lady does go it will be replaced with a Seagrave/ Aerialscope 95'

Ed, The engine looks good. I heard about the small engine problem. But I am sure Ruscon will fix it. As far as Radio call the county and have them drop it off to you. I am sure if you call ESS. They will have them. Question for you though. How many gallon tank is it, and what East Yorktown Station is it going to be in 3,4,5,6. What one? :poke:

Ladder 51 will not be going. But the question is still coming up what the WC number will be. There isn't many out there to pick from. I would have liked Ladder 52 but that has been held for Millwood FD (maybe they would like to let it go) :-k

YHFD was dispatched to a reported vehicle in the water (resevoir) S/B TSP. at the same time 60 control was reporting of another MVA S/B south of Rt.134 60 was asked by 2533 if they can find out if they were the same call. 60 (unable) 2533 asked to have Millwood FD dispatched to the seconded MVA. R16 & MA8/ Dive trailer and 2530 checked the resevoir and the roads under the bridge. Eng 270 contuined south to the reported 2nd MVA. There was NO vehicle in the Resevoir. Note: this was infact the same call. YHFD would like to thank Millwood FD for there asst. And would also like to thank Somers FD for there asst. Mutral-Aid works in Westchester every FD should use it but don't abuse it

Yes it will have a pump on it. But for the most part it will be set up for Ladder opp. Yes it will be RED with the same lettering package as Eng. 270. Note: The current Ladder 51 color was a beige color when delivered in 1968. I Believe the color name was (Bamboo cream) We call it piss yellow. The New Ladder will have the county call number of ? ...... I guess we will all have to waite and see. :-k

DRD any time you would like to come up to see Engine 270 you can call the fire house 962-2148 and ask for Asst. Mcgannon. It seem a lot of Dept. like this Eng. :-$ Some one mite say we know what were doing in Yorktown

Westchester County Cause and Origin Teams vehiles were given to the teams so you can't count them. Buying is from 1 dollar to x amount. Yorktown Fire Districts policy has been not to buy used. They feel it wouldn't be cost affective in buying some one elses problem. This may change if some thing comes along that would be worth it. There are many reasons FD get rid of the equipment (apparatus) Before buying a used apparatus from any dealer you should make sure you talk to the guys who used it and see what kind of runs it responded to. There have been many FDNY truck sold and have been in service in other dept for many years. There also has been many of them sold for scrap metal. Just remember the saying Buyer beware. I belive your front line (first due ) apparatus should be never replaced with a used vehiles. It should be up to date with NFPA and be reliable. Yorktown: Used ----- 0 Chiefs spend your money wisely.

SteveOFD.... Lader 51 is not being sold Engine 274 is. LFD171.... Yorktown has been running with a straight stick (100' midmount Seagrave) for over 35 years. We are looking to replace it soon with a straight stick. A 100' rear mount. One that will meet our needs and fit in our HQ. And with a door opening of 127" There is only one Company out there that make this ladder truck and has been making for many years. Now on to (they are big on KME). The first KME (Engine 271) was the specs of a Pierce. KME came in 33k less then Pierce and giving us more for our money. Engine 273 were the same specs KME came in lower. Engine 270 was a NY State bid contract engine. Yorktown has owned many brand name engine from and REO to a Seagrave. So to say were big on KME. Well I think you should talk to EMTBravo he has been on all the apparatus that YHFD has Even the 1934
