  4. This is very sad to hear about , I hope that from what was said in the papers that if it truly was an active in house Eng. , Truck, Rescue or other company . The person who answered the door should have had a little common sense to activate in house alert I:e station p.a. ,officer phone and then should have assisted asap. I hope that at the least he and some in the company are trained to the level of M.R.T. ,EMT. or Paramedics. We have these incidents all the time ,Walkins ,Drive-ups ,even sidewalk in front of station emergencies. We always respond and render care after notifying fire communications dispatch . It is a sort of Embarasment to the profession of all Emergency responders Fire ,Police ,EMS . to hear of this situation .
  5. I am seeking info from everyone on this site as to what brand of structural ff gloves are you presently using ? Either personal purchase or Dept. issued ? My dept is looking to research some of the brands out there. I am helping out with the research and any help in information would be greatly appreciated. I would like to know about any repair issues, defects, burns, the dexterity of use, length of service of product, whether gauntlet or wristlet style gloves ? Would you or your dept. continue to purchase or seek newer or different brand? We have in the past sought gloves from vendors to put into a wear trial test and will probally pursue this testing again in our help to seek out what is best for our dept. and budget. Once again I thanyou for your help!
  6. Hello and thanks for the feedback on my topic posted. In regards to gauntlet or wristlet gloves ,my dept will issue them in regards to what turnout we have such as coats with wristlet with thumbhole those users can use gauntlet gloves. Other ffs who have standard cuffs they are issued wristlet style gloves. The Eska gloves are they made in the USA or foreign country ? and do they meet our NFPA OSHA requirements ? The Fireguard Commander gloves are they made by Hansen Industry of Ohio ? I had heard that possibly they might be making gloves for Lion Apparel ? I am not sure but maybe some of our readers would know, did the Pro-Tech gloves have any issues with them in the past ? I have experienced the following gloves in the past Shelbys,Americanfireware,Dragonfire,. The Shelbys were very stiff, the Americanfireware and Dragonslayer were excellent wearing golves all around .
  7. Hello everyone , I have a question and seeking info from users of what are some of the best turnout gear manufacturers on the market? I am curious as to what outter shell fabrics ,materials ,inner liners- fabrics ,weight oz. in protection do you currently use? Model of gear such as Globe GX-Extreme,Jannesville V-force,Morning Pride etc ? Repair or sizing issues with the respected companies or thier distributors ? Thankyou.
  8. I myself have used older Globe product such as the Astra suit in PBI ,when i first started in the fire service. I thought then that it was the best all around in comfort and wear. Then going to the GX7 product in a PBI outter shell. I was not overly impressed with that gear. Then up to recently I have used the Morning Pride, with PBI Matrix outter shell an caldura/crosstech linning. Great product in its fit, movement an weight of material. The knee padding was never a issue ,as we had removable pads. I have recently been placed into Quaker Radius gear with PBI Matrix outter shell with caldura/crosstech inner lining. It sure does not fit as well as the Morning Pride but in time I can give a better wear report. We have always used the PBI material in gold since switching from the earlier all nomex material to Globes Astra Suit in PBI. I know that the top contenders in Turnout gear are Morning Pride,Globe an Lion/Janesville. It is just interesting to see an hear as to what other departments currently use or will be switching to. I assist in my department with the Chiefs as to PPE research an recomendation toward purchasing. But it does come down to what the budget allows for in the end,but we always look to go forward with the latest in safety an performance in turnout ,ppe gear.
