Except, Hartsdale obviously spends more time watching TV then fighting fires and rats. I NEVER thought I would ever, ever see a FD soliciting explicitly for recliners to watch TV!!! I hope none of the taxpayers see this, I know I would be curious if I wasn't already a FF!

Anyone know where Hartsdale Tower Ladder 15 has been? I've noticed it hasn't been around since the West Post Road fire in White Plains a few weeks ago. I heard that it was at Campbell Supply, and needed major repairs to the boom substructure, and Hartsdale was deciding what to do. Can anyone confirm? I love Aerialscope, but I know that truck's given them a fair share of trouble over the years, and it's only a 1994.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it very difficult to get ahold of Seth (x635 EMTBravo) via email or PM? Or am I just being ignored? Maybe there is a better way?

One of the guys in my firehouse got this to try oyt. Despite having the potential to be the latest in buff fashion accesories, this ones actually useful. Now, I assume some of the pople posting on this thread haven't seen much fire duty. I have. I don't want a lot of crap on my helmet, the only real thing is a chock. However, this device is light weight and it actaully enables me to see where my guys are exactly in a dark, smoky enviromont. I havent tried it in fire, just training. The other thing I like is that you can color code these lights, example captain and firefighter to differentiate. I think once this catches on it will be big. Contact the guy on the website,he's pretty cool about arranging for you to try his product.

Here's my question to all of you. If this photo was published in the paper, how would you caption it?

Only 38 years old. Local 1586 suffers another untimely loss of a good man. RIP Santo.

What is so wrong with bashing? It's still not clear to me...it doesnt hurt or affect anyone personlly. I think this forum should allow more open of a format and let us discuss anything that affects us. We can discuss the issues just like on the other forums out there, and if gets heated, so what. It's only an internet forum. If people don't like it, tough. I'm 99% sure most of the members feel the same way, so why not? Let's try it. Bashing may get us somewhere and make this place more interesting to read...who doesnt like a good debate. And if they are politcal figures then they should be open to bashing since it comes with the territory. People will still come and like it. I'd so much rather read about how one departments hates this department and why they suck then one of the buffy topics wouldnt you?

After seeing this poll elsehwere online, I was just curious. How often does your station conduct hands-on, practical drills? And no, I don't mean a videotape or lecture, I mean get out there and do it. With my guys, I generally try to do something each shift....whether it's something as simple as tying knots, or as involved as FAST team and survival. You can never practice enough. Keeps it fresh and ready in ones mind, in my opinion. It irritates me that people use the excuse of "its winter" or "we have a company meeting tonight" or "we've dont that already" or the worst yet...."we've got a social funtion to go to", etc to get out of these things. Drill often, and drill always.

Looks great! I think the no-flashiness is refreshing nowadays.

Congrats guys....your tight bond and support of each other and the knowledge and skill you have aqquired is quite apparent to all of us who have met you. That's what the fire service is all about....the instructors who have taught you have done a fine job equipping you all both the personal and firematic skills needed to do the job, and you all will do great when you get to your houses soons. Remember those who taught you the way....they are important people in your life....

That's just a very false assumption. Volunteer's aren't a threat to my job.....in fact, it's quite the opposite....

Just sounds to me like TruckieBuff's got a bone to pick. I dont understand his problem either.

Well, if you have a large department with several companies, why do you need to call for an external FAS team? Also, if it was a quick knockdown, chances are that the fire was out before that decision was considered, and the if the fire wasnt that big, there was probaly plenty of manpower.

Can anybody reccomend a durable yet inexpensive digital camera. I would like to take one to work with me, but I don't want to have to worry about breaking it and would like it to be sturdy for the same reason.

Rescue 4 is operating again with the rig, using a new E-One cab. The Mack/General is a special operations vehicle, I'm not sure for what purpose though.
