Nice looking rig. Is this considered a "typical" or standard type pumper for Australia? How many companies produce apparatus for the country?

So if I smell gas outside my house, like a did a couple of years back, Is it best to call 911 or Con Ed? At that time i called Con Ed and they promptly responded and shut off a gas leak outside the house next door. However, I would have to think that FD would respond much quicker and be able to do evacuation if necessary and secure the scene.

Eastchester FD used one of those horns at the Chester Heights Station. I remember it well since I lived right around the corner! That Youtube video brings back some memories! I think the other Eastchester Stations had them too. Thanks for the link.

Remember that Supervisor Peters is a retired Yorktown PD member so one would hope that he would have their best interests in mind as well as the Town. He should know first hand what would work best for Yorktown and refuse any "deals" that don't work.

I guess in looking at the big picture this is a good thing. But, I have to question just a little bit the need to spend almost 25% of this grant on two boats. It seems to me that the money could be spent more wisely. Does anyone else agree? Any other thoughts?

We may be getting off the original topic here a little bit but if we're talking about IA's here on the website I think the question becomes exactly what additional information is being requested? If its a shooting for instance, asking how many times or where a person was shot is crossing the line. Asking about how an LODD or injury occurred at a scene is obviously crossing the line. It's way different than wanting to know more information about how bad a working fire was or what units were operating. It's true about the increase in the number of people at incidents though. Its a result of technology and the internet and definitely YOUTUBE! Even on this website (as well as the news media)I question the need for the posting of some of these car crash incident photos. Some of them are pretty nasty and unless there is some educational value to the photos, what's the point?

Was there any damage to Memphis Mae's? I was almost on the way there that night until I heard the working fire on Riverside and decided to stay out of the area. Didn't realize it was the restaurant!!!! Talk about BBQ!!!!

Not sure what topic to put this in but here goes... Always been a little confused about the Continental Village FD. What areas do they cover? What apparatus do they have and where are they housed? They always seem to me to operate in a sort of gray area between Westchester and Putnam; do they also have dual response with other departments? Thanks in advance.......

Specifically, whats the difference between a "quint" and a regular ladder truck? Is it simply the tank/pumping capabilities?

Are there any quints in service here in Westchester? I can't think of any off hand without looking it up.
