Anyone hear any word if West Point or the VAs will be hiring soon?

Recently, I was told that it would be a good idea to fax or mail a resume listing all fire classes, especially the NYS 229 academy equivilant, to any fire department which you are on the list for. What is everyones take on this? I'm sure some departments would like to see the 229, but others may see it as being too pushy?

I'm in the 20s so they're either looking to hire a decent amount or canvased all who passed haha

Does anyone know how many they're looking to hire off the 2012 list? Or to who got canvassed?

Does anyone know anything about this test? It was given with the rest of the NYS Fire Tests back in March. I got my letter back from them placing me as number 3 on the list. I just have no idea how many departments hire from it or what my chances are. Any help answering any of my questions would be appreciated. Thank you!
