First rig i have seen in awhile that doesn't have a arrowstick on the back. Stunning looks though. Great job New Haven and best of luck with it!
-
Rest in peace- thank you for serving.
-
Good photo- working at yet another job, I see. I wish the best for you and the rest of PCFD on a good future with the rig, good luck at all the jobs.

Talk about being at the right place at the right time with the camera. My prayers are with the police officers if they got injured during the attack, sounds like a vicious group of civilians.

A good friend of mine- Laurie, rest in peace, I am speechless.

http://eng27ine.smugmug.com/Events/6-27-10-New-England-Chiefs/DSC0020NEFA/915207588_dCXnN-L.jpg Tese rescues have become more popular, I have noticed. Buchanan has one ( in picture above ) also multiple departments in MA. I went on vacation a week ago in Cape Cod, and stopped at some points to see certain towns fire apparatus, saw 3-4 of these. I am liking the small truck, but fits so much!

This lady should be charged with stealing also, due to the fact that she got in an emergency vehicle, which could have had somebody in it, also she could have hit something, that cop was trying to be nice at first and just let her go, but she went and took advantage of it. Just thinking about it makes me think on why she would think it would be perfectly fine just to get in it. Great topic to start- bad thing to do though.

Great job done by Hartsdale, they have outstanding firefighters. I saw them operating when i was down there, and was done very professionally. Hartsdale has a variety of members, including a Somers fire chief, and other volunteer fire chiefs. I wish the best for them and keep up the great work!

Happy thanksgiving to all- stay warm, safe, and enjoy your meals! Enjoy! Ryan

Anyone know when this was placed out of service from CVAC?

I think all he was asking is, at some points, gas is 4+ dollars, and if members go on 30 calls in a 50,000 populated area, thats a tank of gas just going to calls, I agree that they should allow them to fill up their tanks if they have gone on a certain amount of calls. Maybe 10+ calls a week ( if so ) you go on, they give you a tank of gas. Fire department gas tanks aren't small, they fill up ladder trucks, engines, etc. ( as you already know) This is a great topic to start, and I agree on this term. I am taking it that SOME department chiefs do not like this topic, if i didn't like it, I wouldn't post.

Greetings. My name is Ryan, I am 22 years old. I am a dispatcher in Putnam County, originally from the Bronx, moved up here to see how i'd like it, and turn out to love it. I am glad to be apart of this website, and reading everyones posts! I plan on becoming a part of a local fire department, once I get to know the area a little bit better. I worked in Somers at IBM for 2 months, then went closer to home to dispatch. Somers ( for right now) is my favorite town so far that i have been in. I have a seperate radio just for Somers dispatch, thats why you'll see me post Somers IA's, etc. I also plan on becoming a photographer (maybe, just maybe as good as Seth ) and exploring the state. Look forward to talking to you all soon. Ryan

I got pulled over yesterday on Taconic by a 2010-2011 tahoe, black, unmarked. The officer was in a NYSP uniform.

You all have great sides/opinions to this topic, am glad to see the effort put into satisfying each other.

Great tribute, god bless Yonkers FD, I am sure he was a great guy.

Also they get a weekly pager test and several announcments every sunday at 8:15 ( i know this because I have 4 radios and i work for dispatching) they wouldn't have those messages, and M/A would save about 1-2 minutes. Private dispatching all over the counties are different. If they need a FAST Team they contact 60-control and they dispatch them ASAP. If they need M/A when dispatched by 60-Control, maybe save a minute or so. Thats not worth getting rid of organized dispatching. Back in the old days, I heard, trying to get a ladder out the door took 5-6 minutes. I know it has improved now. I am for both sides. The messages every sunday probably help the members know whats going on, with 60 control they will have to manually find out. I do believe the career ff's is a good idea, just the dispatching part concerns me a little bit. I also hear a lot of overlapping. Like 60 dispatching, then some other town/city engine radioes in ( probably can't hear do to the loudness of the trucks) and cuts out half of the dispatch. Somers does take a few to get a truck out, but the main reason is the drivers are trying to get there but have to : 1. wait at every light 2. get through traffic 3. wait for manpower. Sometimes i hear 4 dispatches for towns and not one chief, captian, truck signs on. I am (again) on both sides.
