  1. 100% agree-This thread is only bringing up the fatal remarks- lets bring up the "real hero" remarks now. Where the person's actions were successful- or helped out the people in escaping, I know there ARE some out there. Texas Dad Saves Family In a Fire Yes, he may have gotten severe burns, but he was successful on his goal, at that very moment. I know there was another one a few weeks ago in Port Chester (?) where a mailman rushed in to save 2 elderly in a burning house, which I thought was amazing due to the fact he barely spoke english, and knew exactly what to do in the limited time he had.
  2. That company was last on my pick, but thank you for the heads up. I'll probably either go with a Canon or Nikon, will decide by the weekend, or at most the end of the weekend.
  3. Wow, its in good shape for a '72..
  4. It must be their fire alarm truck, I have seen it in operation also, at utility lines, etc.
  5. I have not decided yet, although I have visited B&H(last week) and know its going to either be a Canon, Kodak, or Nikon. I have re-read these posts, and seem those companies have the best quality cameras. Thank you all for your recommendations. Ryan
  6. Glad to hear that... Long day for them especially with the weather conditions. Stay safe all, especially at fires like this one.. Ryan
  7. Thank you all for the recommendations. I am looking into the Canon's and other bigger companies. I have noted all of the recommendations, will be spending a few days during the weekend/next week finding these/looking, first place I am thinking of going is B&H in NYC, seems to be a great recommendation. Thank you all again. Feel free to continue recommending them, I have a great variety right now, won't hurt to have more.
  8. Thank you all for recommendations. I have noted them all down and will look into those specifically. Feel free to recommend more, as I dont plan on getting one for a few weeks.
  9. My budget is about 2000-2100. I have learned that Canon seems to be a good company, along with Nikon. Anyone have any places closer then NYC? Or online websites?
  10. Millwood is 340. Busiest in 87 years.
  11. I am interested in getting a good camera to use for taking photos of family, fires, apparatus, etc. I am wondering what type of camera would be good for taking the best quality photos. I have seen great photos on here, so if you have shared your photos, or know your photos are good quality, please post what type it is, where you can buy it, etc. I know of one as of right now, which is B&H Photo: NYC Thank you! Ryan
  12. TL57 did not brake down, for all who were wondering. The person who told me was wrong. It had a hydraulic problem and was placed O.O.S for that night to thaw out in their headquarters. Then next day it was placed in service again. The house was a total loss and has been taken down.
  13. How do you change the name? I'd like to also.
  14. They had 1 dry hydrant in the area, thats it. Tankers and a mile and a half of line with low pressure was used. From the sound of units on scene, it was a difficult battle, with ice from the leaked water, from the heat of the fire, etc. They stopped all operations at one point because one of the many links on those lines broke, which spilt a lot of their water onto the ground, which then made a sheet of ice.Was fixed and units were put back to work. I am not sure who posted about BHFD TL-57 broken down, it broke down about 10 minutes after they were released from the scene. ( The ladder was in full operation for hours) so it went through a lot of work. It was towed away today, they state it broke down from engine problems. Will update if I find out any further info about both topics.
  15. Just listened to the audio, personally thought that the IC up there did a tremendous job, seemed like he remained calm and clear during the entire ordeal, thankfully no one was seriously injured
  16. Including buff talk and who can report a call first like the new feature, capacity should be a little more, maybe 10? some just come in to observe.
  17. Had barely no water supply- had over a mile to stretch the lines- was listening the whole time, over 3 rehabs units, this house was targeted multiple times, including small fires, then bigger one in the 80's. CO Z5 stil investigating.
  18. Another member posted a picture of it, maybe at its first fire since its been in service... Lights look great on it & cant wait to see the video you guys are creating! 19. From my understanding; Ladder 19 is stationed off of Weaver Street- Same street fire took place?
  20. Wheres the fire? good photos- great job done by you and your department..
  21. Well said Joe! This is 100% true and should go for all or most of the members throughout the site. I know I have screwed up some times, and others do also.. This should go up on the threads again just for a friendly reminder for all of us.. This post seems like it took a lot of time and effort into wording it right, etc. Great Job Joe, and keep up the great work! Thank you to the EMTBravo staff for making our visits onto the site better and better daily, you all have done a great job with the site, if I could give you a thousand rep. points i would.. We should all thank them by "keeping it professional" to give them a break after years and years of tireless work so we can enjoy the site.. Best of luck to all members on wherever their future leads them too. Ryan
  22. Just a few nights ago, listening to 60 control (which doesn't get good reception over here) and a dispatcher had left the microphone on... He was singing and tapping to one of Beyonce's songs, until he realized it and said... "S*^% THE THING IS ON!!" and turned it off.. Very funny to listen to half the song over the radio and him singing along to it..
  23. Merry Christmas to all members + their families- hope you all enjoyed your day..
  24. New feature is great! Thanks for letting us test it out again, you guys keep making excellent improvements!
