i think the volunteer fire service might have outlasted its usefullness in many suburban areas in the state pop. increases demand for services,two income families,time,

fasny knows about the problem that is y they applied for a federal grant and received 4.5 million safer grant for recruitment thats a lot of money for recruitment.

for 315.00 a year for fire and ems is a bit high upstate u pay 325.00 u get fire,ems, bls and als and u get 250 plus person dept. that is on duty 24/7 365 and responce x with in 4 min with all interior ff not class abc

it brings flash backs form the 70's when police officers were getting amushed here in nys and nyc and throughout the country its very sad and vert scary

i know where i come from when someone calls 911 for smothing as little as a headache or a fire call they r there within for minutes,that is the service they pay for. how much are these tax payers paying these depts. to not answer a call?

most depts where i come from dont just answer fire calls the provide ems,bls,als some even transport and we put on our other hat as code enforcement officers so i think the tax payers where i come from get a pretty good deal for their tax dollar.

geeeeezzzz fasny just got 4.5millon dollars for recuriting how about getting money for staffing these depts. this is just not a down state problem it is also an upstate issue when are these larger vollie depts with large populations and two income families realize no one has any time to do these types of things any more and maybe start to have apaid staff.

who determines how they get the disability where i come from u have to see state doctors and city doctors and usually the state give u the disability and the citywill fight it so most of the people wiilget the state portion and not the cities

the vollies will take anyone they can get their hands on esp. if they have exper.
