wHAT MAKES LESS SENSE. IS THE FACT THAT HALF THE CALLS, IF NOT MORE ,PEOPLE COULD DRIVE THEMSELVES TO THE HOSPITAL. THAT.... IS WHAT MAKES NO SENSE.

Listen folks. I wouldn't be too worried about seeing a Stinger Missle flying off a rooftop at the hand of an NYPD cop any time soon. They may have the capability, but lack the leadership to give the order. Lets remember. This is the same department that let rioting go on for days in Crown Heights before the Cops were deployed in a manner to actually combat the rioters. The same department that gives charges to officers that defend themselves against a violent EDP that's moving to strike a female civilian with a chair. The same department that issued their officers jacketed ball round ammunition because the term "hollow point" was to controversial thanks to the media, and not until the term "limited expansion round" was created did the officers get them issued. I could go on all afternoon. It is a tribute to the MEN and women on that job that anything get done at all. Because despite the RANK. The FILE still seems to keep things moving along. 165 years of traditon. Undetered by progress.

High Rise equipment. When you arrive at a high rise assigment you have a lot of extra stuff to carry. For extra SCOTT bottles. Take a 3 foot lenght of rope or webbing. Tie clips like you would use on a flag pole at each end. When drawing the extra equipment. One FF clips a bottle on each end either using the harness mount or wraping the valve and then drapes the bottles across the top of his pack frame leaving his two hands free for the climb up the steps. They just announced we are going to give 100 million dollars in aid to this country. It would be cheaper if we used our industry here in the US to build prefab homes and ship them over there. In the mean time. They could bulldoze whatever shacks and whatnot they still have standing or not. Clear that land and just start dropping houses. One of the things that could help "clear" some of this he said she said crap up is if the County would do "after incident reports" How the hell is anyone going to correct the s*** that went wrong if no one knows about the big picture. This is not just for 9/11 but for the large scale incidents as well. Floyd, the tornado that hit, snow storms, the heavy rain storms that passed through and disrupted large sections of the county and taxed resources. We can't improve what we don't know. And even THIS topic is self perception. I don't know what went down at the Yonkers Race Track or departments freelancing in the city. But I do knwo that my department was told to report to the training center and stage up. And that's what we did. SO... lets remember there were SOME of us that did follow our ORDERS. As for my view from the FTC. I wasn't impressed with the County response either. There were no clearly designated representatives from the county directing incoming units, nor were there people there accounting for resources on hand. Answer to both questions: The A team is a group within ESU that proactices more regularly on entry and sniper type training. They are often used when Narcotics and other investigative units are serving warrants or making arrests of high threat locations or people. They will be deployed on "special call" basis for hostage situations and violent barricad jobs. While all members of ESU are trained during their "School" in these areas. The A team has the opportunity to do it more. The REP question depends on the staffing levels for the day and tour. Some days or tours you will have multiple REPs on the street. Some you won't. The truck has run with driver only when they have odd staffing or are running short on peticular days. But you are correct. There will be additional units on for special events. Hope this helped.

I think the main point of the problem is the fact that the legislature is going to vote on this Monday without really having a plan on how it's actually going to be done. How the fire service/ems is going to be represented under the broad umbrella of DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY. Some very important questions have yet to be answered. The county legislation is trying to ram this through like the National Health Care Bill .

I think this is a very good idea. Put many of the exempt properties on the books so to speak. Spread it out a little bit. But the one poster was correct. Good luck getting this past Albany. The special intrest groups like the religious groups will have to coin out on a lot of their properties now. This would also now effect the school districts. You will see your school tax go up yet again.

To answer a previous posters question. I believe this bill is not exclusive to FIRE DISTRICTS, but will effect all special districts like school. You might not like the structure of the Fire District system. But do you want to be paying for Yonkers school kids? I don't.

It's up to the individual officer to decide when they want to wash the car. There is a book in each command. You get a car wash slip and go to the pvt vendor. The repairs are done at the shops in each boro. It works the same way as your car. The car goes in when the mileage on the sticker and the odometer match up. There is a car guy in each command, and if there are repairs that need to be made. That person in theory, is supposed to set an appointment and transport the car to the shops. Some commands also have a hose and bucket available for a quick wash.

This article rings so true. I have long said, ther people that utter the line "we're only volunteers" has set the volunteer fire service back 25 years. These are ignorant people who are more often there to serve only to the point it is no longer convenient for them. Unlike the auxillary police force that is a suplament to the department where if they don't respond will be picked up by a police officer. The members of the Volunteer Fire Service ARE the DEPARTMENT and if they don't respond. No one will.

I join the ranks in saying what a complete shock this was to hear. Ron was an outstanding member of the fire service. His energy and drive for the service was apparent in everything he did when down at the fire house. I had the pleasure of knowing Ron for several years now, and I consider myself lucky to have had him as a friend. I wish to extend my heartfelt condolence to his family both immediate and extended. You are not alone in your sorrow, and even more importantly. You are not alone in the fond, and lasting memories you will have of Ron. God speed my friend. John

They should set up tent cities like Joe Arpaio in AZ. It's dry and warm enough most of the time out there. Out up some doubled up fences, and string some wire, and you're good to go. That and some towers. Let the prisoners build the stuff. They are always talking about how they don't get skills training in the prisons to make them be better citizens when they get out. Bet some ditch digging and carpantry will do them all a world of good. That and all that nice fresh air. PS.. the Judge should be thrown through a wood chipper for even thinking about letting these savages out.

I';m glad the President did the right thing here. They should have given the Agents a medal for what they did. Just to show you. The savages are taking control.

This hurts. Because I hold Doctors in such a high regard. I know they are SO SMART, that they know all the difficulties of Police work.. in addition to being so skilled intheir own profession. NOT!! I hope Doctor Libral and the gang fall victem to violent crimes. This dosn't come as a shock. I have delt with MD's that think perps just stop running, or comply with an order just as easy as it was when John and Ponch from CHiP's would point and someone and effect an arrest. These Md's need a reality check bigtime.
