  1. Thats $10,000 per pound. Kobe beef isn't even that much?
  2. The car is a total lose. If the car is on fire no insurance company is going to fix it so why try and put it out without full PPE? I will never understand what these guys are thinking. Crowd control and scene safety are more important than the stupid car fire.
  3. Was FDNY there to help?
  4. Its been awhile but are they raising that right? I thought the guys on the tormentors should be pushing instead of pulling.
  5. New Rochelle R4 filled alot of bottles in southern Westchester for some time before everyone got their cascades
  6. Westchester County PD not White Plains PD
  7. I am not saying the paid side is any better. I was just saying we will get fired for what they were doing. I think the volleys should be held to the same standard. What does the public know? You see the paper that reads FF Joe Blow from East No Where NY arrested for ..... they don't say he was a painter or an doctor they just say firefighter. Until the chiefs of these depts start acting as chiefs this will continue to happen. These members had no right to be drinking in the rig what so ever.
  8. And what happened to all these members who you speak of????? Oh thats right they lost their jobs like they should have. There is a difference between paid and volley, we are held to higher standards
  9. County fire depts work just great with the overall tax burdon spread out.
  10. Does Buchanan has the same hose threads as FDNY?
  11. New Rochelle responds to Mt Vernon, Pelham, Pelham Manor, Eastchester and Yonkers. We have also gone to White Plains on a few occasions. We are usually called first by Mount Vernon I would say because of our staffing level. We do not usually send a truck out of town without an officer on it unless the $hit is hitting the fan. We will send an officer to meet the truck if needed or wait to detail one over to 2 truck from another house. 2 truck and 2 engine have "traditionally" been the out of town companies. As for Yonkers They frown upon going out of town if they are going to baby sit the firehouse and not go to work. Any time I went to Yonkers they were pretty quick in getting overtime in to put in extra rigs to cover the city. They feel that since they do it everyone should and they have a valid point.
  12. There use to be a rule about posting IA's but I guess this one got by.
  13. If you were not "on duty" you should sue the town as a civilian who was hurt on public property. Just my 2 cents.
  14. Guess Boston does it also. Ya gotta love the sneakers on the hydrant man.
  15. I have not been around the fire dept for the last 4 weeks and understand they are doing some work on 1 of the bays at station 2. So our normal procedure for the loss of a bay or a piece of equiptment that does not fit is to park the rig outside of station 2 during day hours and respond from station 1 at night and park it inside.
  16. Good luck to the Brothers from 2 truck. I wish the truck came before my promotion so I could of rode it. I am sure it will see its share of work in New Rochelle and the Vern. Hey jloftus I hope it fits at station 3, I don't know if they took that into consideration
  17. Thats frigging GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Are you kidding me? They jump all over the paid service when we step out of line. Just ask the guys from FDNY how fast they fell out of grace after 09/11/01. Fights in firehouses, DWI arrests, Women claiming to have been sexually assaulted. This person has a problem and needs to get help in the can while he is sleeping with Bubba.
  19. well said
  20. Good luck to the Brothers from Mount Vernon who were also "railroaded".
  21. Tradition is a hard thing to break. How many of you are willing to loose your traditional leather New Yorkers for the modern, lighter more durable plastic helmets???????????????????? LEATHER FOREVER I rest my case.
  22. Rest in peace brother.
  23. Rest in peace brother your courage and valor will not be forgotten IAFF L-273
