Ray Pfeifer passed away on May 28 2017 after battling 9/11 cancer.  Ray was a huge player in extending the zadroga act along with other FDNY and Nypd members    Ray never gave up even while battling cancer.  RIP Ray.   We'll take it from here.

They've recently have installed them on what was broadway.  That's what he ran into on 45th street and stopped him.  I'm not sure if they plan on putting them in on the 7th part of Times Square where he was able to drive onto the sidewalk.

FDNY vented with the tip of the aerial as a matter of routine. It proved to be quick and effective and did not cause undue wear and tear on the ladder. Fire trucks are tools, unfortunately many departments treat them as parade pieces at the expense of sub-par performance on the fire-ground. BTW, FDNY did not spec their sticks with gizmo's and buff paraphernalia mounted on the working end, so there was no chance of creating additional airborne debris. 

I though ti t would be odd for an FDNY chief to have taken a Lt's position in Dallas, but nowadays who knows...

Instead of questioning an exterior attack vs an aggressive interior attack.  They should be getting back to basics and work on that.   Like someone mentioned above not really an "A" effort.  The way the video was edited you can't really create a true time line of how long it took to get things going.  In the video it shows an engine pulling up and to me it looks like it took a long time to get the line in place and water in it.  They had a chance to make a good push on this but their lack of assertiveness and aggressiveness they let this get away from them. I'd be embarrassed if I was the chief after seeing this.

Why?  Because far too many continue to think that as long as the fire trucks show up and the fire (eventually) goes out, it's a "win".
 
I freely admit that I'm making a judgement without the "full story", but based on what these videos show, I'm pretty comfortable in saying that this is what a fire department that isn't adequately prepared to perform its core function looks like. 
 
Fire departments that know what to do don't have a large group of personnel dressed for the occasion standing around doing nothing in front of a house while it burns!

It's hard to say for sure given the limitations of the video, but this incident doesn't appear to be an "A" effort.

I guess all the firefighters and chiefs on the roof who gave reports and conditions wasn't enough or believeable.
