Hazmat 1's second piece is now listed as delivered on ferraras website. http://www.ferrarafire.com/NewDeliveries/ND3_Rescues.html I noticed under the listed equipment which it carries it mentions airbags. What would a hazmat company use airbags for? Has HM1 always carried rescue equipment as well?

would the whole crew take the attack piece for the call? What would happen if a fire call came in and they were forced to respond first due in the attack piece?
-
syracuse went back to telesquirts? There last two engines were just that...engines.

why is it so beat up?

Wow! Lots of scene lights!

It looks bigger than the old one. Also, are they getting a new second piece? I thought I heard something about it...possibly even on a custom chassis

I had heard that they were supposed to get a new support piece as well to replace the kenworth...possibly even on a custom chassis.

Looks good...is this a replacement for the tac units?

Most modern rigs have the ability to have warning lights turn off when parking break is applied. Around where I am from (Columbus OH) all of the medics automatically have all but two warning lights on each side shut off, and the ones that remain on switch to a slower pattern. If larger pieces of apparatus could have this setup, the TA to the rear would always be more visible, and more easily understood.

I agree...most areas dont use them at all and just leave them in the "random" flash pattern. Even when they are used properly, often there are too many other warning lights which blur out the directional light. I do think that they put a good source of amber light right at eye level for drivers, to differentiate from red warning lights which can be confused with brake lights. For this purpose, arrow sticks function well.

Didnt Boston just get a new KME engine?

In general (or at least from what I have seen) GMC tends to be more expensive, but also tends to have more features included in the base model then the equivalent chevy would

Has anyone ever seen a rescue truck with a walk in rescue body and a trash pump (~250 gpm)? Just curious...ive been searching for an example of one for about a week now and ive come up with nothing.

The fire department where I grew up has full time, part time, and paid on call volunteers. The difference between a part time and a volunteer is that part timers staff stations for an entire shift during daylight hours, while volunteers respond to calls nights and weekends. I believe the volunteers are paid $15 when the tones drop, and $8/hour while on a call. With a call volume of 2 or 3 calls a night, and an abundance of volunteers, most volunteers only see a few calls a week, definitely not enough to make any significant amount of money. They run the calls because they want to, not for the money, therefore they, in my mind, are volunteers.

these look to be a little top heavy. Other than that a pretty cool concept and its nice to see that the air force has done their research and looked into building the best truck for the job.

I found this on the Ferrara website. They claim to be making a medium duty rescue on a Freightliner chassis for the FDNY. Could these be new TAC units? http://www.ferrarafire.com/CustomerSupport/InProduction/pages/4415/4415.html

As a current college student, I am not sure what the best way to prevent events like this from occurring. Increased police presence on the university may help. At Ohio State, our university police have their own swat team, and they are not afraid to show the team off to the student population. Perhaps knowing that a force like that exists would deter any would be shooter.

Does anyone have a picture of the rather unique rescue truck San Francisco used to run? I caught glimpses of it watching the Bravest, but would like to know more about it.

The last wolf has been reported to be shot, and only a monkey remains at large.

This happened right outside of where I live in Columbus. Some local schools were closed so that children did not have to wait for the bus in the dark with exotic animals running around. Here is a link to the local news story. http://www.10tv.com/content/stories/2011/10/19/zanesville-exotic-animals-escape-preserve.html
