Firematic told me they're 15 months from contract signing to pre-construction right now and stopped taking orders for 2022 at one point. We're expecting delivery in May/June but like you mentioned, that could changed. They're having supply chain issues due to having to import the raw material that is used in making axles. They used to make them in the US but I was told that due to the emissions deal in the US, they were forced to have to import.

Ossining FD has taken delivery of a 2017 KME Severe Service pumper. The unit, designated as Engine 101, replaces a 1993 E-One Hurricane 1250/750. The Village of Ossining has also approved to accept bids to furnish and deliver a new 22 passenger command vehicle.

It's really not difficult at all to spot an unmarked car these days. Buying all new $40,000 vehicles or however much they are at taxpayer expense just so they can sit a couple inches higher is a complete waste of money and one of the dumbest things I've heard of since being apart of this site.

Very rarely do I see them driving with a partner so by looking into your vehicle to see what your other hand is doing, they themselves are distracted from their driving. Somehow I can see this causing more mva's involving a mos and it being the fault of the mos for not paying attention to their driving.

Ossining FD deserves credit for throwing the ladders as well. They're among a small percentile around the county that has strong Truck Company presence at a fire scene - whether it's throwing portable ladders or getting the Truck into position. I actually missed this fire, but can tell you I am proud of the guys for always doing the right thing.
Ironically, Monday night's FAST drill was a review of throwing ladders...

Just another reason why we the residents of Ossining are blessed with such a great fire and ems departments. Well trained and very responsive at any hour.

I don't really see how it's anti-police. The written article was very factual, and the only time they used the word tragic was on the record newswatch. They also went on to say that the troopers tried to use non-lethal methods to bring him into custody and only fired once he became an imminent threat to them. If they were trying to make it anti-police, they wouldn't have included any of that.

Sorry I could not get a better shot of the old 105 as it was packed in like a sardine. All the bays are full so it was parked in the middle of a wall. Chances of getting a better shot will be hard as they don't get many run's in Livingstonville New York.

Glad to see it stay in New York state. As I said many times here the upstate boy's really need our help.

There were a few shots taken with my camera yesterday, so here they are, the front compartment that is nearly complete to hold the various strainers and donut rolls of hose, the generator with cord reel with the circle D electrical box and 24" pullout steps added, the auto fill being installed, you can also see the inlet for the auto fill under the step on the passenger's side of the photo showing the generator compartment , a blank panel with be going over this piping and valve as well, the back of the swing out tool board which will have three SCBA, TNT tool and a small hook, 10 switch box which will run all the clear lighting such as the front brow light, the PIAA driving lights, the side and rear scene lights, perimeter lighting and steps and tailboard lighting. The engine looks taller than it is, measured yesterday at 9'6" at the rear, 9'9" at the cab and length is 31'4".

Very generous offer, although it probably would have ended up as scrap if sold to the highest bidder. Here is the last photo I got of it during the 2013 Mt Kisco FD parade. May it give its new owners many years of safe operation

After 24 years of service to the Independent Fire Company in Mt. Kisco, NY, engine 105, a 1989 Pierce Lance pumper, has gone on to a new home. With the recent purchase of its replacement, we had a decision to be made on what to do with the 1989 Pierce. This discussion goes back to when we first decided to replace the pumper about two years ago. After our annual fire department parade in 2012, a former member who always attends our parades came to our firehouse. The former member, Bob Molhenbrook, was a member of the Independents for 20 years before moving upstate to the Catskills. He brought along the Chief Jason Wayman of his current department, the Town of Broome Volunteer Fire Department, in Livingstonville, NY, and their wives. After speaking with them and talking of the new engine soon to be ordered by us, the talk shifted to the August 2011 hurricane, Irene.
Upon hearing of the devastation and the financial hardships that Hurricane Irene caused to them, we started to think of ways we could help. Not long after, we received a letter from Jason with pictures of the hurricane and its aftermath. In his letter he explained how what little savings they had saved was used up to cover costs that insurance did not cover. Unable to do any fundraising events for some time due to the fact their fundraising hall was destroyed, this would delay their thoughts on replacing their current frontline pumper, a 1980 Saulsbury front mount pumper. After discussion on whether to sell our old engine or possibly donate it to a company in need, a motion was made to sell our engine for $1.00 to the Town of Broom Volunteer Fire Department and it was unanimously passed. Not only was it the right thing to do, it was the only thing to do, in our minds. We know they will get years of service out of it until they can raise enough money to replace it one day. The engine served us well and we hope it continues on for them.

Since this is my first day of retirement after 20 years @ 60 let me tell you our protocols. EMS dispatch: no answer dispatch again 3 min later. No answer after 2 more min. dispatch again and dispatch mutual aid. Fire: after initial dispatch if no answer after 5 min. dispatch again. If no answer (and it has happened) dispatch again and dispatch mutual aid. Mutual aid run cards have been set up by both ems and fire agencies for their districts. Barry I understand what your saying if dept. x crashes, but what if I don't send anybody to the call in a TIMELY manor! The cad prompts us on all re-dispatchs. The buck does not stop @ 60 Control. It is up to each department whether volunteer or career to cover your calls. The cad will prompt us for the city of New Rochelle or Bedford EMS in the same manor. We run with NYS DOH protocols for ems and NFPA for fire. If you can't cover your call's start thinking about joining forces with your neighbor who is covering the call! I love watching a cop driving in a patrol car while on the cell phone! If police pulled over every person not paying attention to the road, the officer would never be able to patrol the streets, there's not enough ink in their pen to write tickets

The roads we have, pretty much have not changed greatly in the last 10 years or so. It is not an engineering problem for the most part. You can spend all the money on signs,lights and reflective striping, but the stupid driver that is in a rush, on a phone, laptop, ipad, just too self absorbed to say they are a bad driver, just plain too stupid to not understand how to drive will continue to do stupid things behind the wheel. Just take a walk through a mall or a store, people are too stupid to keep to the right when they walk. Ride a bus or a train, yup there is Mr. Stupid trying to push his way onto the bus or train before letting others off. Society has taught these people their s*** does not stink, and that they are the most important person in the world. It is always someone elses fault, never there own.
