Saw this on KME's Facebook Page Stephen Altieri > KME Fire Apparatus So just last week several staff from the Town of Mamaroneck traveled to the KME plant to check on the status of our 2017 KME engine 36 that has been at the factory for warranty repairs since March 19 2019. With seven items to be repaired only four of the seven items were repaired in the four month period and three new defects were identified This seems to be poor performance on the part of KME. To the management of KME how does the Town get its truck back in service? Stephen Altieri Town Administrator There appears to be no response for KME.

Last night I drove one of our engines to the Liberty State park for to have it photographed with the tower lights in the background. This was my first year participating although my department has sent vehicles in the past. The site affords an amazing view of the city and the lights emanating from ground zero. While looking at the lights, I had a chance to reflect on the events both of that day and every September 11 since. The tribute in lights reminds us what and who we lost. Sometimes “we shall never forget” simply is not enough. May all of those who were killed on 911 and have died since rest in peace knowing that you are not forgotten and we have picked up the torch and will carry on! Also a special thank you to the organizers and volunteers that made this happen. It was well run and a worthwhile endeavor. Not to mention the site chosen afforded an amazing view of the tribute in lights.

NYPD has added new vehicles to their fleet. I saw a few of these in Manhattan today. Maybe we could have a caption contest? Here are my entries 1) "I thought I told you not to leave the RMP out in the rain!" 2) "And what do you want to be when you grow up?"

A CDL is not required for any emergency vehicle, only a valid drivers license. Almost all fire apparatus would required a CDL without the exemption. However the person delivering the vehicle is required to have a CDL. Once it is owned by a political subdivision, the vehicle is considered an authorized emergency vehicle and the CDL exemption kicks in. They are even exempt from the tow truck regulation as are the NYPD tow trucks. (for those who would ask). Tow trucks are required to have tow truck plates. This is because tow trucks are required to have higher limits in insurance.

They can always come to New York and replace the troopers that the governor is sending to NYC . Troop G in Connecticut isn't that far from 684. In fact they covered a small part of it.

Funny thing, I don't remember hearing that the Chappaqua Fire Department or VAC had units at Bill and Hill's while he was president. Ditto on Crawford. Also the law was changed. Bill Clinton is the last ex president to receive protection for life. Now it only for 10 years after leaving office.

It's all how the spec is written. for example if the department wants a specific feature or equipment and that feature is specific to a certain manufacturer then others may not meet the spec. Also if that feature is an option to other manufacturers, it may drive the cost up to the point that they wont submit a bid. Some departments have height, weight, size or departure angle limitations and these may disqualify many manufacturers.

All of their equipment is White over Maroon.

Many years ago almost all of the County parks had summer police assigned to them. They used to be called "specials" and wore the County PD uniforms with the old patch and hats with "a 50 mission crush". We were armed with a .38. Many police officers of my time started off as specials. "

I heard on the radio this morning that the Governor did not even have the courtesy to contact the mayor of Buchanan (the municipality were Indian Point is located) to discuss the subject. She found out about it by reading the NY Times.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.-- Enough is enough -- that's Gov. Andrew Cuomo's message to those abusing the Staten Island Expressway's HOV lane, which opened in September of 2015. Starting today, the governor has directed the New York State Police to partner with the New York City Police Department to "step up enforcement of the expressway's HOV lanes, and put a stop to this reckless and arrogant behavior once and for all." "Plain and simple, this is a blatant disregard for the law that could cause a real danger to all drivers on the Staten Island Expressway," Cuomo said in a statement in which he credits Assemblyman Michael Cusick for bringing the issue to his attention. In addition to Cusick, Cuomo also thanked State Police Troop NYC and the NYPD for "making this a public safety priority." by Susan Lunny Keag | skeag@siadvance.com on October 27, 2016 http://www.silive.com/news/index.ssf/2016/10/gov_cuomo_sends_in_state_polic.html
