Your contribution to the site is very much needed and appreciated. We look forward to using your donation to apply towards monthly and yearly expenses. Members, Due to recent, severe, and ongoing personal and health issues, I have not been able to keep up with all my duties as site administrator. One of these duties is obtaining funding through advertising. I've not been able to keep with with this, which is depleting the savings we have set up for the site to prevent this kind of thing. Right now, I'm the only one who can handle the ads, invoicing, sales, etc. And I can't afford to pay for any gaps out of my own pocket for the foreseeable future, nor will I have much time for the site right now. Which is why I need to rely on member contributions to keep the site going financiallly for th next couple of months. I know I've appealed to members in the past, but in the past couple of years I've had to do it less and less, thanks to our advertisers. To contribute, click on the link at the top tab, or at the link below: http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php/donate/ Thanks for any assistance you may be able to render. If you can't afford to or don't want to, we completly understand. And if you see an "Investor" badge in a member's profile, remember they are the ones who have made contributions. Contributions are completly voluntary, and do not entitle any member to any special treatment or rights. . Seth

This will be the forum to post wacky articles or anything you come across at work and may find funny to share. Keep in mind the rules of the forum apply here, don't post anything where the victim can be identied. Both helicopper and jack10562 came up with this idea for the forum, so thanks to them for this great and fun idea. Seth

We have added a darker skin for those who prefer a darker skin. To acess the button, it's a tiny text link to the left at the bottom of the page. I'm working on getting a screenshot and making the link a button. Please note if you have any issues on this thread.

Members, If you are posting photos, here are the rules: 1. You took the photos yourself -OR- 2 ( A ) You have been given the express written consent to post someone else's photos, note that clearly in the post, and be able to provide contact information to the original photographer immediately when asked by any member or staff ( B ) You have purchased a photo collection, or are guardian of one (such as a department historian) ( C ) You may repost photos from Flickr,Photobucket, etc. This goes for all photo hosting and gallery sites that have a sharing feature, or "Creative Commons" license where the photographer clearly allows sharing. Please make sure that is clearly states the photo can be shared. You must credit the photo to that person, which site it came from, and a link to the gallery in which the photo was posted in in your post. 3. Photo theft, or "Lifting", is banned. You may not take another photo from another site and claim it as your own, or imply that it is yours. You may not repost photos found on other sites on this site. Linking to the photo is a recommended way to share the photo. 4. If the photographer or owner of a photo asks you to remove it, do so and notify a staff member immediately. We take protecting the photos of our members and other photographers very seriously. We are always looking to weed out those who steal the work of others. Consequences include immediate termination of membership and sharing the inringement information with the original photographer.. Simple: If the photo isn't yours or doesn't meet the criteria above, don't post it. If you see a photo that is yours and you did not give permision for it to be posted, please hit "Report Post" and notify the staff. Thank you for your cooperation. -EMTBravo.net Team

More and more manufacturers are adding an "In Progress" section. If you're paying several hundred thousand for a rig and take some photos of it, I would say that they are you. Just use your best discretion.

EMTBravo gets a TON of search hits. EMTBravo is EMTBravo, and people know what it is. I've presented changing the name in the past, and members overwhelmingly opposed it. And the name is part of the heritage of this site. Changing names would have little effect, I believe.

For the time being, the Shoutbox has be moved to the bottom of the index page. IA's from Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess will once again show up in the recent topics list. I'm experimenting to see if this reduces the "clutter" at the top of the main forum index page.
-
That would be a question to ask them. Different companies have different policies.
-
I'll say this. To everyone. This community is what YOU make of it. You have a choice. Sit back and whine about the site.. Or start fresh, new, interesting topics. Invite people to participate in the forums. Post your photos. Reinvigorate the community. This site is based on member driven content, and you're in the drivers seat. I don't want to hear the "Nothing good anymore" complaint. Propose a solution or idea. Certain members use every oppurtunity they get to complain about the site is counterproductive. I also think members realize or appreciate what goes on "behind the scenes". Right now, we're looking at ways to improve the content of the site. We re-doing our moderator system, as well as a whole bunch of other things. To the people who are still complaining about the upgrade, even after numerous explanations, get over it. We're not going back to the old software, it's obsolete. Move on. There is a thread that you can post the issues you are having, and I will try and figure it out or explain it better to you. I'll also be launching a "Sandbox" section where you can play around with the different features of posting in a live enviroment so that members can get a better feel of the features. I'm also working on some tutorials. Remember585, I took a lot of heat lifting your ban for the second time. I lifted the latest ban because you have been a long time, positive contributor to this site and have posted many excellent posts and topics. If you remember, you were even a staff member at the begining. Saying "I'll probaly slip up again" is a slap in the face. Flaunting that incident unapologetically and saying you'll probaly do it again is making me re-consider my move. Bans should never be treated as a game. You can be as opinionated as you want, all I ask it that you treat fellow members and staff and the members with respect. Again, to all members, if you have a question about anything, including moderation issues, contact a staff member

And I really do appreciate that. That was a whole new internet photo sharing thing I missed.Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

Good point, Chris. I hadn't considered that. You may post photos from Flickr,Photobucket, etc. This goes for all photo hosting and gallery sites that have a sharing feature, or "Creative Commons" license where the photographer clearly allows sharing through what Chris described above. Please make sure that is clearly states the photo can be shared. HOWEVER, you still must credit the photo to that person, which site it came from, and a link to the gallery in which the photo was posted in in your post.
-
You can absolutely post a link to photos on another site. However, you can't post the actual photo unless express consent is given by the person who owns the photo.
-
A reminder/clarification. If the photo is posted on another site, it DOES NOT give you the automatic right to post the photo here. If someone contacts you to ask you to take the photo down because it is theirs, notify a staff member so the photo can be removed.
-
Correct. If they are your photos, you can directly upload to the site. Hotlinking creates a host of issues. On a seperate note, we have created a new Warning system with progressive action levels and clear reasons. For example, today we found out a member was lifting photos. Since we had to find this out from the original photographer who attempted to contact this member several times to remove the photos, this member was warned under our "Photo II", which means that we had to find out from the original photographer. Since this photographer also tried to contact this member several times to ask to remove the photos before contacting us, this member is now suspended for 90 days. This member will also not be allowed to post photos for one year. He was given the oppurtunity to correct his action, has read this thread, and ignored both.

Thanks for the compliments, guys, you have no idea how much they mean to me. It's been a lot of work, and I'm still working on perfecting it. As for the signature, only 3 lines are allowed. This is so signature's don't hog threads.
-
If you own the photos, then there is no issue. It states above that if you bought the collection, then they are your photod. We're just trying to protect photographers from some people who like to "lift" photos from other sites and claim them as theirs.

I would just like to reiterate that my hands are tied. I had no choice but to upgrade the site, and had to do it when I was able to take several days off work. I waited to the last possible minute to upgrade the site, and I honestly was very hesitant to do so. I'm doing the best I can do to make this work, and trying to be as responsive as possible to help members adapt. Just like other sites on the internet, we evolve as well. Personally, I find and have confirmed the new software to be much faster, easier to administrate, and it has many more helpful features for members. Take some time to explore and take note of the many new features. This new software is very customizable to how YOU want the forum to appear, and what content you want to see and when and how you see it. And give me time to continue to customize the site further.
