Rob- When you have situations like that father in Purdys who was the sole breadwinner for his 8 child family who died tragically in a motorcycle accident last week, or Jessica Martinez, who's family needs support to make sure her son is provided for, or the JIMMY foundation who makes it possible for other families to seek progressive care for child patients with a poor prognosis, having a fundraiser to benefit this website doesn't seem appropriate when there are so many better causes that money should be going to. I'd rather do something low key, like a $2 drive or sticker sales or something to that extent to raise money to offset the cost of running this site. I'm also thinking about corporate sponsorship for select PORTIONS of the site. We shall see as I develop the idea. The idea I like the most right now, and has been helping me a lot, is the PayPal donations center, there have been a lot of generous members helping to cover costs...and that's all I'm really looking to do. Rob, I appreciate your continuing support and help. Please don't get frusterated with me, as I have a million things going on. We'll eventually figure something out when the time is right. -EMTBravo

I ordered the Dell Digital Ultrasharp 19", with the intent of adding a second Ultrasharp 19" when funds allow. Also got the TV tuner card so I can watch TV on one screen while working on the other. I also have a Dell Inspiron with 15" screen that I use to see how the site looks on laptops and smaller screens. AKA "EMTBravo Mobile Command Center", LOL. I am currently using a 19" CRT monitor. It will be so nice to have the deskspace back! I am planning on using my current computer as a photoserver.

Well, with all the increasing work I've been doing on the computer, especially the multitasking, my beloved 2001 Dell Dimension 8200 with 256MB of RAM that EMTBravo was born on and is currently produced on, just wasn't cutting it anymore. So, tonight, after much procrastination, I finally ordered a Dell XPS 400 3.0 GHZ Pentium Dual Core with 2GB of RAM and two 320GB hard drives. It's due the first week of September. It was a lot more then I wanted to spend, but this computer has everything I need and will serve me well into the future. Originally, I wanted to wait until Windows Vista came out, but I can't take how slow this computer is anymore and the slowness really cuts into my productivity. I probaly will need to do some sort of fundraiser to help pay for the computer, since the computer is where EMTBravo comes from and all my new expense eat into the money that used to be plentiful for me to pay for this site alone, so I will be announcing something in the next few weeks. I'm VERY excited! P.S. I like my Dells!

Just to note, we have redesigned the bottom of the EMTBravo.com website to make the information there more organized, streamlined, and easier to read. Also, some of the redundancies from the bottom of the page were removed. When you have a chance, please take a look. In the new bottom section, you can also find a new page, "About The EMTBravo Group". Look to this newly redesigned bottom section to be the place to look to for all information about EMTBravo.com and The EMTBravo Group. There will be some more infastructure improvements to EMTBravo.com as we work to provide a better interface to navigate our members to all our sites increasing content. As always, your input, ideas, comments and questions are always welcomed and appreciated, either on this thread or email, EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com. If you like the site, we always like to hear that as well.

Thanks to all members for their input and helping develop the name of this new site. We decided on the name we did for a variety of reasons, and everyone's input on this thread was a great help. You can find the announcment for the new site in this forum (Network Headquarters)

Because it's a highly volatile politcal issue (down there), and really doesn't affect this area or the majority of the members on this board- the situation they have there is unique and irrelevant. On top of that, it was primarily a solicitation to sign a petition on another site regarding that local political issue, to which signing would not benefit any member of this forum, and not a topic presented for discussion.

I know there are a lot of people out there angry with me for not posting their photos, I can see that via the comments on various threads and emails I have received. I will TRY to get as many photos as I can posted when I have time, which has been scarce for me due to a number of different things going on including work, spending time with my fiancé, family, and friends, vacation and other travel, enjoying the summer months, health stuff, things to do around the home, planning a wedding, personal projects and hobbies, not to mention work on these websites as well as a new project etc etc etc. I get a lot of photo submissions, and I try to get as many as I can up, with priority being new deliveries, spy shots and recent incidents that show fire and ems personnel or apparatus in action, when those submitted photos are quality and are enough to make a decent spread. Just a quick behind the scenes glimpse, I hand select edit and post every photo, I do this for a number of reasons I don't wish to elaborate on or discuss right now except for making each photo spread appear the best that I can. The result of this is that it takes me a while to do each spread, especially those with multiple photos. For example, the Mount Kisco Virtual Parade took me over 2 hours to edit, upload, and layout. But the time spent is absolutely worth it to me since I am very pleased with the results, and I enjoy the way I do it. I hope people keep submitting their photos for posting consideration and understand why sometimes their photos aren't posted or are delayed. I feel bad that I can't post them all all the time, and I apologize for that. Your submissions are truly appreciated, and I will work on spending more time posting photos. I have a ton of great photos in the que, and I want them posted just as much as you do....it's finding the time and balance that's the issue. Thanks again to all the contributing photographers, I really appreciate the time you guys take to get and send in the photos, and your photos are what makes EMTBravo.com what it is. And thanks to ALL the members for your continuing support of me and this site. PLEASE KEEP SUBMITTING THE PHOTOS! -EMTBravo

We have chosen a new Verified Member logo. Special thanks to NRFDTL11 for the assistance in designing the logo with the many revisions I requested, and thanks to all who submitted their designs. You may see a different logo every now and then from now on.

Thanks, Monty. The most common reason why people have trouble uploading photos is because the file size is too big. Photos must be 50K or smaller for the photo to be accepted by the upload utlity. To reduce your photo filesize, you can use any photo editing software. Also, make sure that the photo is an appropriate size to view on the board (i.e. not huge so you have to scroll around to see the whole photo)

I like "CommonGoals" too. Unfortunetly it's already taken. Thanks to all those who have submitted names via this thread, email, and PM. I'm still considering them, and am open to any new suggestions as well. I hope to make a final decision really soon, so please throw out ANYTHING else you're thinking of ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!

What about FireEMSAlpha.com???? Or maybe I'll just keep it under the EMTBravo banner, and make it the "EMTBravo Professionalism Iniative"
-
Let's get something straight here. Bashing of ANY agency is not tolerated on this board. I'm sick of reading topics about Putnam County EMS, and seeing members bash various agencies, often using hear-say and rumors to fuel their posts, with no constructive intent other to advertise their biased opinion, , especially those members who hide behind a screen name. If you want to bash a specific agency and/or person, find another board. It's not going to continue on here. If anyone chooses to continue it, their posts will be deleted, and posting privledges will be suspended. This topic is now locked, and is remained so this and the rebuttal to the bash can be read.

I'd like this not to be affiliated or assumptions of affiliation with any agency...for the concept to work, it has to be completly independent. I know, I'm very particular....but we will come up with a great name!
-
I like "AfterTheCall", but I want this site to reflect before and during the call as well. "TheRightReasons" is also a good name, but is already taken. This site will be based on the concept of improving the fire and EMS service, most specifically in Westchester County through the use of Internet. I also don't want a name that's affliated or sounds like EMTBravo.com, and a name that encompasses both fire and EMS, since the site will be about improving both. This site will be produced by EMTBravo, but at this time otherwise not be affiliated. Thanks to everyone for their ideas so far, please keep them coming as it's sparking thought. I hope the right name comes along soon, so I can get the process started.

Members- The EMTBravo Group has been working on developing a new website that will be seperate from EMTBravo.com.......the development name I had was "ProfessionalismPush.com". But, since I rely on word of mouth to advertise my sites, I found that too hard for people to correctly spell and get to the site. The concept of this website is sort of like a local FirefighterCloseCalls.com. I want to publish a simple site that will make people think, share ideas, and generally lead and inspire increased professionalism (behavior-wise) amongst the fire and EMS service in the area. I want to accomplish this by publishing articles and editorials from local authors, and by publishing photos of the good, and not so good. Sort of like an online magazine covering issues on the local level. So, given the description of the new site, can you think of a good, catchy name? Also looking for any other input or ideas anyone has.
-
Thanks for the positive input, Huzzie. It's the members who drive this site, and any constructive and positive input or insight is always appreciated.

Members- I'm looking into the possiblity of redesigning the Verified Member logo, as seen in the posts by Verified Members. I'm interested to see if any member with computer artwork abiltieis can come up with a neat design for the logo. The size of the logo must be 110x45 pixels. The image must convey that the member is Verified. It must stand out, but not be too distracting- has to blend in. Email it to me, EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com for consideration. Thanks!

How can we make this forum better? "That guy doesn't know what he's talking about!" "Who does he think he is?!" "Where did he come up with that??" Often, while discussing this forum with a variety of people, the biggest complaint I hear is of people being annoyed with other's opinions or the information they present. If you think about it, that's not too much different then real life too. The next biggest complaint I hear is of the more outspoken younger members of this forum giving opinions out of place, and not wanting to learn/listen from the more experienced members. And next, those who speak negative and bash people and departments are complained about as well, rightly so. Much of these complaints comes from the "lurkers", meaning those who read and don't post. What I want people to realize is that if you see incorrect information posted, why just sit back and whine about it? If you have the FACTS, why not post it and set the record straight? That's what I don't understand. If someones saying something, chances are a lot of people are also thinking or have heard that, so why not take the chance to clear it up? And if you see someone that's just inappropriately bashing a department, why not report the post to us? Whether you accept it or not, the majority of those people posting are in the fire and EMS service, and those are their actual opinions and knowlege. Why not take the oppurtunity to try and influence it? There are a ton of problems in the Fire and EMS service as we all know, if we can't even have a rational, constructive and respectful discussion on an internet forum, how are we going to resolve these problems in real life? I have several ideas to improve the information exchanged on this forum that I'm going to try and implement over the next few months, but I want to hear your ideas. As you know, the goal for this forum is for it to be a positive, constructive, and friendly place to exchange information and ideas....something I feel for the most part it is. I know, because I have witnessed it, that many people have learned, connected, and improved from members and the discussion on this forum. I've had significant leaders from the area tell me it's a great way to know what their personnel in the field are thinking, and firefighters tell me they've learned of a new tool or technique they applied, or event they learned of. But I am sure this forum can be an even better tool to improve and connect the area fire and EMS service. We have a ton of diverse members from all over the area, with a tremendous amount of knowledge that I want to use this board to tap. How can we get more of them to share it with us? So, to those who complain about this forum, I hope that those complaints have a real resolution that we can work towards. Let's make this forum even better. -EMTBravo

The website they were hosted on, www.10-75.net, is currently down. Therefore, the link was removed. We're waiting to hear back from the webmaster of that site, and the link will be reposted when available.

Just a reminder, the deadline is this Friday, June 30th for the June Photo Of The Month. We're accepting Incident Photos only at this time. A tip, we're not so much looking for photos of the incident itself, rather photos of the incident with emergency services personel in action.

EMTBravo.com & EMTBravo.net are operated by EMTBravo in his spare time, and out of his own pocket. An enormous amount of personal time and money is spent providing this website for your use and enjoyment. As many of you are aware, it costs money to operate this site. From webhosting space, software, bandwith, computer and photographic equipment, and other related time and costs etc it can and has been getting quite expensive. By contributing to EMTBravo, you are helping to contribute to the large operating expenses of this site. We enjoy being able to keep this site not-for-profit, non commerical and free for everyone. PLEASE don't feel obligated to contribute at all. We hope that you enjoy this site, and that a couple bucks a year is worth it to you if you can afford it to help us keep EMTBravo online. We have funded this site completly independently, except with only a short period of limited donations about 2 years ago. Since starting this current donation drive, the members who have contributed so far have covered the complete operating expenses of the site for May and June, and we really appreciate that and those members generosity. Click Here To Donate All Donation Transactions Are Processed Through PayPal, a secure established online payment transaction site owned by Ebay. Paypal, Visa, and Mastercard are accepted.

I barely have time to keep up with the photos and this forum, let alone a live feed, lol. As has been mentioned, a live scanner feed is very difficult and time consuming to set up, not to mention expensive to host, since it consumes a ton of bandwith and usually requires a dedicated computer and reciver. Also, to monitor 60 Control given the diversity of the radio systems in Westchester and the way the transmitters are set up, makes recieving a feed tremendously tough to accomplish. I've looked into it extensively, and it's not possible for me to provide...HOWEVER..... The webmasters at the above mentioned site are working hard on a feed, and that site should more then satisfy your listening needs. That's also the other reason we won't be provided a feed, as we reccomend that site.
