  8. This thread is being closed. As we are trying to breed a more professional atmosphere here, I find it disgraceful that some members are more concerned about going or not going to a parade then staffing a full engine with the proper amount of properly trained and capable firefighters at 12 noon on a weekday, oor getting an ambulance to a heart attack victim within 8 minutes. This forum is provided, for the most part, for Fire, Police, and EMS discussions, the sharing of ideas, information, and techniques, and the cultivation of professional relationships. Some off-topic discussions are permitted, but this won't be a place for discussion of social club type functions. This debate rages on year after year on this forum, and most members are sick of seeing it. Unless there's a specific parade issue, I don't want to see bickering over parades. Also, feel free to post your parade in our events section. I realize parades are a part of a community, and FD participation within reason is neccesary, but let's keep it real- time spent training, familiarizing equipment, driver/operator training etc is time better spent then taking a majority of your active members and apparatus that your taxpayers paid for away from the community they are supposed to be protecting, polishing chrome, walking down a street, drinking heavily, and then competing for a "trophy". Who cares about who can put out a fire better- it's all about the shiny trucks and whos in step. Pat yourself on the back for that trophy that's going to be forgotten about and collect dust after that night- let's see how well those same parade members do competing in a firematic competion. Personally, I spend over 50 hours a week (not right now though) at a firehouse. I NEVER find nothing to do- there's always reviewing chainsaw operations and finding stuff to cut, putting the aerial up, throwing ladders, tying knots, watching training magazines, driving around and preplanning, building familiarizations, etc etc. Plus PT, apparatus checks, firehouse maintence, etc there's plenty to keep busy firematically. Some people need to get their priorities straight. As parade season is about to begin, that's the EMTBravo stance on parade threads.

  11. To all VERIFIED MEMBERS: We have increased the amount of space per post that you have to upload photos. What does this mean? You can upload AND POST more and bigger photos in each post. (Although we do ask you keep photos/reduce your photo size to a 600x400 maximum per photo or so we don't have to scroll through a huge photo and to conserve bandwith) -EMTBravo Webteam
  12. No. Photos can be directly uploaded to EMTBravo. I will post a tutorial in the coming weeks- or if a member wants to do one for me, it would be greatly appreciated.
  13. It's possible that the image size is too large, which is the most common problem. What is the size of the file you are trying to upload? Also, email it to me at EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com, and I'll try uploading to see what the issue may be. -EMTBravo
  14. At this time, no new site skins are planned.

  16. Members- Sometimes, a member will post a topic in the wrong spot in our forums. We ask that all members try to post their topic in the forum that best fits the description of the forum. We sometimes move topics to forums they would fit better in for discussion and orginizational purposes. We also sometimes change topic titles to make the subject of the thread more clear to all our members and therefore hopefully attract more members into that thread. Although we do have a "Moved" label, we don't use it generally. So, if you go to a forum and see that your topic isn't there, try checking some of the other forums, or search for your post by using the "My Assistant" feature on the top menu to find where your post has been moved to. We are working on a system to automatically notify members when their post is moved or title is edited, but right now we are unable to manually notify members due to time constraints. As always, questions, comments, and concerns are always welcomed. -EMTBravo Webteam

  18. Members- Although we appreciate every photo sent into EMTBravo.com, unfortunetly we do not have the time to post them all. A major reason why photos aren't posted is because of quality issues. We want to show the best possible photos on the site. Shots that are cut off or poorly framed, poorly lit, apparatus taken inside a bay, blurry, too small, etc are most likely not going to be posted. We're looking to show apparatus photos that show the appararus the best, outside complete shots of the rig and it's features. For action scenes, we want to see firefighters and apparatus in action. We don't want photos of the bystanders or photos that don't clearly show the incident. Don't forget, if you have one or two shots, feel free to post in the appropriate forum on the site. We recieve a large number of photo submissions each week. The best way to get your photos posted is to send in quality photos, and a few of them. Photo selections are made by me, and part of the decision goes to what the general population wants to see. Also, please make sure they are YOUR photos and include your EMTBravo username. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me, via EMAIL, at EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com PLEASE NOTE WE WELCOME PHOTO SUBMISSIONS FROM EVERYONE, SO CONTINUE SENDING IN THE PHOTOS! Thanks! EMTBravo
  19. Members- I'd just like to give you a example of what I deal with. This message was sent to me via our Private Message system, and although I am posting it publicly, I am withholding the members name to keep the anoynimty of the private message system. THE IDENTITY OF THE PRIVATE MESSAGE SENDER WILL ALWAYS BE HELD CONFIDENTIAL. Please note that I will never reveal what anyone sends me via PM, this is just an extreme case. Let me give you some background. This member posted some negative comments about an incident in the Incident Workshop forum, and since negative comments or incident critique is not tolerated, this post was deleted. This member then continued to taunt me. I wrote him a PM regarding the situation, explained to him why his post was deleted, explained to him the situation and addressed his taunting of me on the thread, and this was his reply. All I try to do is maintain a clean and constructive atmosphere on this forum. Although I take a lot of shit for it, I do take pride when seeing the behavior in other forums. I also strongly beleive that incident critque and negative comments about incidents on this forum leads nowhere constructive, and it has been a long standing policy in the Incident Workshop forum that it isn't tolerated. There is even a warning on the top of the forum. This member has been banned. Posting on this forum is a privledge, not a right. If you don't like this forum or have an issue with me, email me and we'll work it out. Otherwise, find another forum. Although I'm not upset by the letter given the obvious immaturity, I have a number of people who criticize this forum and send me hate mail over it. Here's an example I want to share. Also, to preface this letter, please note I said nothing about career or volunteer firefighters or firefighting in my PM to this member. Those who know me know how ignorant this member's comments are. This member, who is under age 20, buffed a recent fire and has had an attitude in the past on this forum that he and his department is the best. He had an issue with positioning at a particular incident. I rebutted his comment via PM with some facts, and also gave him the number of the chief of the department, since he had such an issue with it that he had to make a huge ordeal out of a minor issue. Little does he know I have photos of his department's rescue pulling up smack center in the front of the building, blocking the deparmtnents ladder truck, the same thing he felt so passionate about telling the world about this incident. I'm also curious about how someone who lives 20 minutes away from this particuluar incident could be there before the 2nd Alarm was called, which was immediately. The member also signed the PM with the departments listed. I have nothing but respect for these departments, and please do not think this one immature and angry person represents the memberships of these departments. He has since sent me threats that his chiefs won't care and support him in this matter, and has threatened me. I'm ashamed this person is a member of the fire service. I'm also curious where the "career prick" came from. If this person somehow makes it onto a job somewhere, I hope this attitude comes back to bite him. Rant off, read the letter.
  20. Members- Today, I made some changes to the forums. This is part of a never-ending process to adjust the forum's formula to best suit the membership. You'll notice that the Firefighting, Emergency Medical Services, and Law Enforcment forums are in one group under the "Emergency Services Sectors" part of the forum. Also, I've added two new forums. -Special Operations, which is for the discussion and sharing of information regarding Haz-Mat, Technical Rescue, Rope Rescue, Trench Rescue, Collapse Rescue, and all other specialized disciplines. -General Emergency Services & Public Safety Issues. Sometimes, there's issues that affect us all in all sectors in this line of work. That's what this section is for. Additionally, the Law Enforcment Forum no longer requires a password. These forum sections are grouped together because we all stand together. Hope that you all will use these forums. -EMTBravo EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com
  21. I always do that in January, takes me a while to get used to the New Year number. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
  22. Members- Due to lack of activity, I am considering closing or modifying the Law Enforcement forum. If I do keep the LE forum, I would remove the password protect feature, because I can't keep up giving out the password to people, and I feel the password protect feature is causing the low activty levels in the forum. Note that other Law Enforcment forums, such as Officer.com, is open to the general public without a password. Would the LE personel be OK with it being open without a password, if I do decide to keep the forum open. My other option is to change this forum into a "General Emergency Services" topic forum. This would include Law Enforcment, Technical Rescue, HazMat, and all other Emergency Services and others not affiliated with Fire or EMS. I also would like to know if you think we should add, delete, or combine any of the other exisiting forums? What do you think is the best idea? I will be acting on this soon. -EMTBravo
  23. Here's what I've come up with: We're going to give the Law Enforcment forum another shot with an open format, no password. It'll be a fresh start, with all current topics removed to respect those members who posted unders the auspices of a password-only forum. If it sees little activity within a months time, then it will be removed, but I hope it takes off this time, as I know there are many LE officers and those with an interest on this forum. We'll also be launching a new Special Operations forum as described above. Look for these AND OTHER forum changes later this week. Please, give me any input you may have now......
  24. I'm conflicted. One member suggested to replace the Law Enforcemnt forum with a Special Operations forum, for HazMat, Tech Rescue, Rope, Collapse, Trench, and all other diverse disciplines that don't really fit into the Firefighting category. I think that is a good idea, but I want to hear from more members. As WolfEMT suggested, another option is to keep the LE forum open with no password, and maybe it would get increased activity. Would the LE members of this forum participate if no password was required? PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR INPUT on these two ideas!
  25. I'm actually considering closing the Law Enforcment forum due to lack of activity. It was only a trial to see how it worked. Also, there are a few other Law Enforcment forums out there that are open to the public.
