Members- We have added a new policy that members must not have usernames that clearly reflect their agency, company title, department code, or unit number (the latter may have some flexibilty) For instance, we will not accept "TownXFD". However, you may use your agencies intials and your shield number, your Town name, etc. Members who currently use the name of their department as their username may contact EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com with their current username and what they want it changed to. Any member who does not comply with this by the end of this month will have their name changed by the administration of this forum.

Just to note, this issue has been dicsussed numerous times in the recent past. We urge all members to look to see if their topic exists already and/or is being discussed on this forum BEFORE creating a new thread.

The first person to post and answer right wins the LifeLite. At that time, I will ask another question on this thread, and so on. I'm sorry, I don't mean to distract from the topic, but where did you hear that and what prompted you to say that? Just so members know, I have no idea where that comment came from and it is untrue. By the way, my email is EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com. So we don't hijack this thread, we can discuss it there.

The thread you are discussing is in the Apparatus forum. MINUS the attempts to turn it into a career vs. volunteer bashfest. Let's try to stay on topic, and no let a thread get sidetracked by nonsense. If someone says something about either side, people automatically get defensive. We recieved many complaints about what that thread was turning in to. Ignore it, or make your point. Just don't cry because some peoples opinions differ from yours. Also, taunting or diresepcting moderators (which occured in this thread) WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. Any member who does so will lose their posting privledges. Also. let's remember to try and keep discussions based on fact, not speculation. This forum is provided as a tool to exchange knowledge and discuss issues that affect us ALL. Death does not select career or volunteer. We've got to co-exist, and get rid of all the tradition and much other BS.

Member, Check http://www.emtbravocentral.com for newly lowered prices on T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, and the EMTBravo LifeLite flashlight. We feel these prices are more then fair, and hope you'll purchase some EMTBravo items. These prices are for a limited time only. http://www.EMTBravoCentral.com We have reduced the amount we recieve per item, since the exposure we get from the items sold is valuable as well. Plus, we are continuing to find ways and people to sustain the site financially. EMTBravo EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com.

As many members know, running this site is expensive. It takes a lot of my time, and the money comes mostly from my pocket, with help from advertisers. Since this site's inception, members have requested EMTBravo T-Shirts and sweats. I initially resisted, not wanting to do a "buffy" T-shirt or having to put up with selling them. However, things fell into place and one day a couple of months ago I came up with a concept. To raise money to continue running the site as well as expanding the site, I could sell EMTBravo T-Shirts and Sweatshirts that, instead of a buffy quote on the back, carried a message that reflects the mission of EMTBravo.com. I partnered with RescueStuff, and produced a quality shirt. I've made posts, sent out emails, put up banners on EMTBravo sites, etc, and the T's and Sweat's aren't selling nearly as fast as I thought they would. There are a few core people who have been GREAT, and bought what they could to support the site. Every time I put something up for sale, they buy it and I really appreciate that. I did some research, and most members who are still active who had suggested or talked about me selling T-Shirts or sweatshirts haven't bought a single one. I have new merchandise that's non-clothing that will be a nice suprise for people, so I expect that to sell well. I'll be announcing that soon. But the latest batch of T-Shirts and Sweatshirts aren't selling that well right here in Westchester. Most of the shirts go everywhere but Westchester- from Florida to California to even Montanna. I'm puzzled why more from Westchester aren't buying? I'm even more perplexed that the more "hardcore" fans of this site haven't bought any. What am I doing wrong? How can I get these shirts, that support the site, selling faster? I've marketed as much as I can, to the point where I think it's become annoying and people ignore it. I need to move these shirts, help me think of ways! (or buy one yourself!) -EMTBravo

At this point, I'm closing this topic. Sales have increased. In fact, I was confused and sales weren't that bad to begin with. I intend to put more products out in the future on http://www.EMTBravoCentral.com Please note that aside from making money, my goal with these shirts was also to promote the site and it's message. I also would like to take this moment to thank everyone who's made a purchase for their support. . If anyone has suggestions fror products, please EMAIL (not PM) me at EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com. Note that I have a lot of ideas for products to begin with, but a lot require a significant capital $$ outlay and quantity. One more thing, I will be figuring out the total cost it takes to run this site every month, and posting that.

HFD201 WINS! HFD201, email EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com to claim your prize. That day had 184 posts. Next question: Which day in March had the LOWEST amount of posts. BONUS QUESTION: How many posts were made that day? If you answer both correctly (+1/-1 on the post count), you'll also win an EMTBravo sweatshirt.
-
Last HINT: Is someone gonna win? Not a lot of luck here? It's between 150-200. Numbers contain the ID of x635's favorite FD's USAR unit in Sheman Oaks,CA. But only one of those numbers.
-
OK, were getting nowhere. Everyone can guess again. Hint: range between 100-200. +2/-2 will be accepted.
-
Nobody is even close. Remember, 1 guess per member.....range of 1-315

WINNER! Nutty1 wins! March 23 had the most posts made during the month of March. NEXT QUESTION: To step the question up a notch, for a prize of an EMTBravo LifeLite Flashlight, how many post were made that day? Since this number can be broad, I'll give you all a lifeline. It's a range between 1 and 315. +2 or -2 of the actual number will be accepted.

As you know, a couple of months back we started requiring Verified Members to list their age range in their profiles. A member of this forum suggested that we look into the breakdown. So, this morning with some help I did some stats: Out of 733 Verified Members: Ages 14-17 = 39 Members Ages 18-20 = 89 Members Ages 21-24 = 89 Members Ages 25-34 = 183 Members Ages 35-44 = 191 Members Ages 45-50 = 71 Members Ages 50-60 = 57 Members Ages 60+ = 14 Members Total Verified Members: 733 Just a reminder, if your profile doesn't list your age range, you will be removed from the Verified Member program. *Please note that we regularly audit Verified Members for profile accuracy. If you notice a member who is listing incorrect or intentionally misleading information in their profile, we ask that you contact EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com via email immediately. Any member found to be intentionally listing incorrect information will be removed from the Verified Member program and may be banned from the forum

There's new EMTBravo merchandise coming out that's service oriented. I hope to get it in this week- it think it'll be a hit and a suprise. Also, forgot to add in my last post (some have already mentioned)....with clothing marketing especially, once people see these shirts, they'll want one or some for themselves. I'm confident these shirts will sell themselves once they start getting out there more...thanks to those who ordered this weekend, there was quite a surge and I appreciate it.....but, a lot are consistently contributing members of this site- I want to start seeing new names on my packing slips!
-
First off, you're absolutely correct. We're not going to sell at other's fundraisers. Also, we're not going to hock shirts at parades. Once merchandise is gone, that's it- all sales for now will be through this site- in the future I may have a firehouse rep/reseller program. But I do appreciate everyones input and support.

This regards PayPal Donations, not Merchandise Sales. We use PayPal as the payment gateway for EMTBravoCentral.com, and orders are not affected by the removal of the separate and unaffiliated donation link.
-
Paypal Donations have been suspended. At this time, I'm going to try and sustain the site with advertisers and merchandise sales.

But compare it to a concert T-Shirt, which costs like literally $40.00. But people buy them in mass, and they almost always sell out by the end of the show, and people pay the money because they love the band, but the money goes right to the merchandiser and the band. Here, the markup I feel is quite reasonable. When I determined price, several things went into the factor. The cost...I used only the best tshirt and sweatshirt, I loooked at what other sites were charging for sweatshirts and tshirts, I asked what I needed to raise to overcome the money I laid out for the shirts and make enough profit to run the site AND purhase more items. I surveyed some members to see what they thought was in the reasonable range. In addition to raising money, as I said one of the reasons for the shirt were to promote the site and show the soladarity of the message. And it still amazes me how many people will buy those "I'm a Firefighter Look At My Hose" tshirts or only want T-Shirts with intricate screenprint of firetrucks on the back. As for the selling during parades, etc, I'm sure I'd sell a lot but I don't know if I could or want to do that at this point. I wonder if I would sell more shirts without the message on the back? I'm also considering discounts for Verified Members with certain post counts. Also, discounted or free shipping. Then again, it's like all the people who read the site and don't contribute their knowledge that they have. Again, I'm not doing this as a for-profit venture, I'm doing this because people enjoy and want it, and although stressful at times enjoy it. I just can't afford to handle everything out of my personal pocket. There will be something service oriented released later this week. Stay tuned. Thanks to everyone for all thier support.

Members- You may have noticed some threads that were here last night, but gone this morning. A NEW member by the handle of "YFD", had, despite warnings, "spammed" the forum with a number of different topics. This, in itself, is against forum rules because posting a number of threads and posts in a short timeframe distracts from other members threads and posts by flooding them out. One of the issues was that he was using other peoples photos from other sites, without their permission, or without giving them credit. This includes from sites where using photos elsewhre is made clear. Addiitonally, we strongly have suspected this member had been using false credentials to identify himself as part of Yonkers FD, as described in his profile. We were looking into it a couple of days ago, but got sidetracked. He got verified by using the name of a fictious/real Yonkers FF. He also was very slick in how he did it, and his behavior made it quite obvious he wasn't who he said he was. This morning, the evidence was clear, the member was banner, and all of his topics (should) be removed. Any member trying to represent or even trying to sound like they are affiliated with any agency that they have no affiliation with will be banned. This member made it clear he was a child with his behavior. We have to police ourselves on this fourm, so anyone who notices anything fishy, please advise me or Truck4 ASAP. We apologize for any incovience. I don't usually make moderation matters such as this public, but since "YFD" was such a presence in his short time , I felt the members deserved an explanation. I'm also upset this member wasted my time having to deal with his behavior and it's aftermath when I could have been doing other things. -EMTBravo
