Members- Since our Communications professionals stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Firefighters, Police Officers, and EMS personel, and are as much a part, if not more, of the response and incident as those on the scene, we have moved the Commuications forum section into the "Emergency Services Sectors" category. It is now right below the Law Enforcment forum. When originally created, the Communications forum was more for the scanner enthusiast or those interested in radio communications. This move is part of hopefully redirecting the forum as more of a discussion section for issues and sharing of information regarding Dispatching, Communications Professionals, etc. However, it will still be open to all topics regarding Emergency Services Communications and monitoring as well.

I'm currently evaluating the points program and plan to make some changes. The current point scheme was done quickly and for experimental purposes. Now that I can see how it's working, I can make some adjustments.
-
I feel it's confusing for the membership. It's too broad a category for the current forum, and and one I feel is and can be covered by the sector-specific forums that are broad enough to include Training and Safety for every line.
-
My issue with Training And Safety is that it can be redundant to the other forums. In its place, I would create a "Training Oppurtunities" section, where people could post various training oppurtunities.

How about this? Whoever can come closest to prediciting WHEN (Date And Time) we will hit 100,000 posts will win a prize. Add your prediction to this thread, and when we hit 100,000, whoever is the first to come closest will win a (TBD) prize.

Members- We're noticing an increase in members posting "one liners", or single sentence, or even single word, comments in reply to a post, often vague, unrelated, or in jest. Please, if you're going to post, please respect the person that started the topic and add a substantiated, thought-out, worthwhile comment. No one wants to read a thread that's full of nonsense posts. Furthermore, no one wants to start a topic only for it to be taken downhill or not intelligently/respectfully discussed. I suspect some of this activity is from the Point system. If it doesn't end, I will suspend the point system, which I have/had some good plans for. While we're at this EMTBravo-style obsessive ettiquette thing, some more housekeeping notes: TYPING IN ALL CAPS is considered shouting and rude. Please remember to keep your topic titles descriptive and not in all caps. We will edit topic titles if we feel they are vague or inappropriate, use poor grammar, or typed in all caps. Thanks for your continued cooperation in making this forum what it is! -EMTBravo

It's a setting on your end. On top of the thread (topic), the dark blue bar underneath the "Add Reply" and "New Topic" buttons, click "Options" -> Display Modes and choose/click on "Standard View" Please let me know if that resolves your issue.

This feature has now been restored. We appreciate all our IA writer's cooperation and patience while we restored this important feature, and apologize for any inconvience. (It is a valuable feature to those of us that write IA's!) Don't forget though, this pre-filled template must be adhered to and not changed. Special thanks to Michael McCune for the script and adapting it for this forum, and to Truck4 for the editing while the feature was down.

In an attempt to allow more members to play, we've made the entry ticket price for the Bravo Points lotto 1 point. The base jackpot is 25 points. The more members that enter, the bigger the jackpot. This is a chance for those member's who don't post much to increase their points, and for all members to increase their points. Someone wins every day. Click on the link below to enter. You pay with your points and win points, not actual money.

Members- As you may have noticed, we have recently launched a points system. Each month, we are going to select a charity that relates to Emergency Services or members of this forum. You can take your points, and at a selected conversion rate depending on how much we have in the bank for the program, and convert them into a cash donation to that charity. Since I cannot afford this expense completly out of pocket, I will need some sponsors to help me out. For example, a member can cash in 1,000 points for a $1 donation. As a sponsor, you would contribute whatever amount you want to the bank, which would then match the donated points, and a check would be cut to the selected charity at the end of each month. Your sponsorship of the program would be noted in the letter that goes along with the check, as would every member who donated the points. You would also receive reconition on our "Knowledge Is Power" page. If you are interested in helping me to sponsor this, please use the contact form at the link below to contact me and for further details. http://emtbravo.net/index.php?&autocom=contactform -EMTBravo

BuddyLight Helmet LED has generously donated money to start this program. (Thanks Jim!). BuddyLight is a large supporter/sponsor of EMTBravo.com, and we'd like to thank them for stepping up to be the first to make this program possible. We'll be announcing this month's charity (already selected), and how you can donate, later this weekend. http://www.buddylight.com

Also, can anyone think of a better, more descriptive name for this program/campaign? Help is appreciated.

I don't get it? As for the Hospital, I could care less about the forum at that time....I had much more pressing issues to worry about and was confident in Truck4 and the moderators to keep the forum going. And I did have a lot of fun on my honeymoon, it's been a rough few months and I needed it. Also, thanks OswegoWind- as the topic of this thread implies, ENTER THE LOTTERY!!!! It costs you 25 Bravo Points (changes), and the more people that enter, the bigger the jackpot of points you can win. A new winner is choser automatically every day. Click the link below to enter, and don't forget you can enter every day! The points can be used to donate to charity, or enter raffles for EMTBravo merchandise.

As Truck4 mentioned, a new script has to be written for the software, which I'm currently contracting out for. I hope to have the feature restored soon. To reiterate, in the meantime, PLEASE use the template as described above.
-
Thanks. Should be fixed now.

I beleive this issue has now been corrected. Thanks again for bringing it to my attention.

I am aware of the issue, and will attempt to resolve it this weekend if time allows. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Members- When posting, please remember these few tips to avoid having your post deleted, edited, or moved and to help keep the forum organized. -When starting a topic, please make sure you start it in the correct forum. For example, a new delivery would go in the "New Delivery" section, NOT "The Lounge" section. On the main index is a description of each forum. Please choose the one most fitting to your topic. -Keep your topic titles descriptive as to the topic at hand, and spelled correctly, and don't type them in all caps. -Please use proper and mature grammar in all posts, and don't type in all caps. It makes it easier for all of us to read. -Please refrain from posting "one-liners". If you have information, opinion, comments, or knowledge to share, we invite you to do so. However, one sentence posts generally do not contribute to most topics. (again, not applicable to all posts). At moderators discretion, they are considered flaming another member or using the post to increase your post count. If we find repeated consecutive one-liner posts, that will result in an automatic 1-1,000 point/post count penalty per one liner post. -When posting an Incident Alert, please use the Incident Alert Template. -Please review the Forum Rules and Conditions at your leisure. They are accesible via the link of the same name at the top of the page. -If you see a problem post, please use the "Report" button to make the moderators aware. The report will be recieved anonymously. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE REPORT FEATURE TO COMMUNICATE WITH A MODERATOR!. If you need to do that, please use the "Send Message"/PM feature. Any problems with the above, feel free to contact a moderator or ask questions on this thread.. -EMTBravo

Members- You can now see each members "Posts Per Day" stat in each post, as and where illustrated below. Additionally, you can now rate each member in their profile, using a five star system, with 5 stars being the best. The member will be able to see who rated them. It will average out based on the rating given by the members.s Both features will allow us all to see who the consistently active members are, along with the quality of their posts as judged by the membership. *EDIT/UPDATE: We are building this system in preparation for a Fall 2007 rollout of a rewards program for members that consistently post quality information. As stated in the forum rules, any member posting, as determined by us, for the sole reason of increasing their post or point count, will be considered spamming the forums, and their posting privledges will be yanked. -EMTBravo

For logistical reasons, it will be a few rotating charities each month. The charities will be related to emergency services or members of this forum. As I've mentioned, still working on this program and finding sponsors for it. Further details will be made available later this Summer, and look for it to roll out in the Fall.

MEMBERS: I just want to preface this by saying that, first, this was found posted on another great forum by "JoeG", of Railroad.net. It's very applicable to our type of forums as well. Although the majority of you are awesome and there's a higher level of respect between members of EMTBravo then any other forum I know of, we all work togetether to help maintain that and this message just serves as a reminder especially to our newer members who may not be familiar with the EMTBravo ways. Know that I am proud to have THE BEST forum membership on the entire 'net!-and want to keep it that way "Please Treat Our Topics As Conversations Between Real People"

Members- Please see this thread for a sneak preview into what's to come with the points system: What Can I Do With My Points? (Click Here)

I think you guys will like the new program. The criticism actually inspires me to make it even better. This will bring this forum to the next level. I, again, appreciate the dissent, as that shows you care about the site. You may not care about points and it may seem ridiculous right now, but I hope that you can open your mind when this program comes online and give it a chance And, don't forget, points can be taken away as easily as they can be earned as a penalty.
