  1. Just curious how many members we have here from Bergen County, NJ?? If you're from BC, and reularly browse these forums, please make a post here so I know you're here.
  2. Members- Recently, we've noticed some members using avatars (that picture under your name in a post) which are offensive to others, and vulgar inappropriate for this forum. Anyone found using an offensive, vulgar, or inappropriate avatar will have it removed, second offense posting privleges suspended. This goes along with our policy on using significantly foul language Please notify me via email at EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com of any offensive avatars so it can be addressed. Thanks for your cooperation in keeping this forum clean and mature.
  3. I'll just leave it that I had to remove an avatar of a naked woman with a "toy" in her hand.
  4. Members- Recently, it seems more and more links to online games are being posted by our members, overshadowing other topics at times. I ask that you refrain from posting online games to ones that are emergency services related, and only in "The Lounge" forum. There are a million different online games out there, and I know a select few on this forum enjoy the games and sharing their scores, I don't want that to overtake this forum. Thanks for your cooperation.
  5. Don't be sorry, and no one started a "war" or was personally reponsible. Games are fun, just not in mass.
  6. OK, you can post games, but please do so in moderation. If there is an active game thread going on, wait to that one dies until starting a new one. And please keep all games posted somehwat mature and appropriate. Also, don't post if it's not a unique kind of game. If we see members "spamming" this forum with game threads, that member will be PM'd. There are a million games on the internet, and they are easy to find, and no need to post every single one on here. I see that several members enjoy competing against each other, and I'll continue to listen to the membership's concerns. I don't want people coming to this forum specifically to play games, nor that be the attraction to this forum. I want people to come here to learn, share, and grow.
  7. Whatver threads you personally want to choose as important to you, that's your right. However, please don't mock others discussions because you don't find them personally important. The reason why FDNY doesn't have Q's is a legit topic for this board. As for the "4 page threads on light packages", I can't seem to find those. When I review all the new topics created each day as part of my continuous review of forum operations and trends, to see six new topics created in ONE DAY about online games is a little ridiculous. Posting a game every now and then was fine, but it seems those kinds of topics are popping up more and more. The stats show these topics are often posted by those in a younger age range as well. If people spent more time contributing constructive information, opinions, or knowledge in the many other threads on this forum, then this forum would be even more of an informative place. Using this forum as a place to learn about new online games and sharing your scores in a manner that overshadows other's topics is not the intent of The Lounge or of this forum. This is a move to continue to keep this forum on track, not something to be percieved as a negative. This was an issue with the frequency of the threads being posted about games increasing, not about the occasional game thread.
  8. I understand that, but when I go through the list of topics for each day, and 5 or 6 of the active ones are games, and other topics are getting less attention, then there's an issue.
  9. To note, we've upped the anty. Tickets now cost 10 points each, and each member may buy a maximum of two. Base jackpot is now 100 points. Jackpots and other factors will change from time to time. We will be raffling off some prizes at some point related to the point system.
  10. Congrats! To note, we've upped the anty. Tickets now cost 10 points each, and each member may buy a maximum of two. Base jackpot is now 100 points. Jackpots and other factors will change from time to time. We will be raffling off some prizes at some point related to the point system.
  11. NOTICE: PROFANE LANGUAGE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED! From this point foward, any member found using profane language (or something that represents such), using symbols or other characters, to get around the automatic censors, or using vulgar or any other language to insult another member(s), will have their posting privledes immediately suspended for 3 months.
  12. Some of you have labled our new Bravo Point system as ridiculous and useless, and "bribing people to post". Although the logistics have yet to be finalized, I'd like to give you a sneak preview of what you can do with your points coming this Fall. Say you have x amount of points. You can take that amount, and convert it into a cash donation to a emergency services related charity. Therefore, the more you share knowledge, the more points you acrrue, and you can submit those points for a donation to be made to select emergency services related charities. Also, you'll be able to use your points to enter raffles for prizes. Please note that the above plans are not yet finalized, and are subject to change or delay. I just wanted to give some of you some insight as to what's going on.
  13. I'm currently evaluating EMTBravo.com and planning some changes and adding new features, and want your help. This board has consumed a lot of my time, and I feel I've been neglecting http://www.EMTBravo.com Although the unique visitors continue to grow, I feel the site has lost some of the buzz it once had. So, my questions to you (I'm talking about EMTBravo.com, NOT this forum) : Do you check EMTBravo.com daily? What can I do to make EMTBravo.com better? How do you like the layout/design of the page? What would get you to visit EMTBravo.com more often? What else would you like me to know? I admit I'm horrible about posting peoples photos, and now I hardly get any. How can I encourage more members to send in (quality) photos of new apparatus and recent incidents? Or have the photographers not been out much, it seems. You don't have to answer every question, but any input you may have will help me reshape EMTBravo.com.
  14. We've posted some new photo sets on EMTBravo.com, and invite you to http://www.emtbravo.com to take a look. We're going to be continually posting new photos and adding information to EMTBravo.com, so don't forget to keep checking back! WE NEED YOUR PHOTOS! Click below for details:http://emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=17753
  15. It's randomly generated by the computer, I don't know the algorythm for it yet. When I've got some time to study it, I'm going to add to the script that you can only win once per week.
  16. You are right on the money there, Oswegowind- thank you, I appreciate your understand and explaining it- you hit the nail on the head. I do need to be selective due to time constraints, it's nothing personal. I'd like to see more submissions of incident photos, spy shots, new deliveries, etc. I've got to figure out a way to encourage more submissions and give the photographers confidence they will be posted or explain why they aren't. However, I can't post blurry or poorly lit shots, or new engine shot inside the bay, or action shots with people just standing around, photos from a cell phone, etc. I want quality shots. I also can't post everyone's photos, including people's travel photos, but I will link to peoples galleries of specific photo sets if appropriate. I'm actually working on that. Just got to figure out the best method to do it. Thanks to ALL for your input, please, I want to hear more from more members, it's sparking ideas for me.
  17. Members- We have changed our Verified Membership application process to a new, more efficient automated system. To learn about a Verified Membership, how to apply, and to apply, click on the "Applications" link on the top of the page, or click on the link below: Apply To Be A Verified Member With this system, you can apply directly via an application form right here on the forum, and you will be notified when your application is approved (or denied) automatically via email. Verification Applications take anywhere from 1-3 days to review and approve. Please note you must be a Verified Member in order to post on the EMTBravo Network. -EMTBravo
  18. The official winner will be announced soon. It's going to be the FIRST person to come up with the closest date and time, and changed answers are second if no one comes up with the right date and closest time on the first try.
  19. Thanks for the input. Too many people were reading the forums, making and passing judgement, without even becoming a part of the community. This move will help to drive up member registrations, and allow us to communicate better with all of those who view the forum. The next phase of this is to delete inactive members, and to have a minimum post quota per year to maintain your membership. Also, the Verified Member program will be completly revised. As always, we're constantly making changes to evolve the forum and make it better for all of our members. This step is one of many to come over the next few months aimed at increasing the constructive discussion on the site. It will also include a complete revision of the forums rules, and a member advisory panel, and well as clear and consistent moderation protocols.
  20. Sorry to interrupt this discussion. I'd like to set something straight here. I just recieved an email from a disgruntled member about this thread. He feels that I dictate which departments can be "bashed". The member even went as far as to call me an "ego-maniac". I spend numerous hours and thousands of dollars to provide the forum and make NO PROFIT doing so. I do it because I have seen the positive effect that the forum has had and the community wants it. I also believe it's a valuable tool for change for those with an open mind. But some people don't care, don't want to contribute to the forum, just make stuff up about me and whine and complain. I know many people don't like the way I run this forum, and have many misconstrued perceptions- and make accusations when they have no idea what is actually going on. If you want to complain about discussions, why not get involved in them and actually contribute instead of throwing hate at me? Sleepy Hollow emergency services has gotten a lot of bad press over the past few years-and much of it has been discussed on here. It's sad, because there's a lot of good they do that the media could care less about. I think that it's BS that these incidents overshadow everything else. Sleepy Hollow EMS has become one of the premier VAC's in the county, Sleepy Hollow FD has some very well trained and aggressive members, an active marine unit that assists at numerous Hudon River incidents each year, has to deal with a transient population that speaks a different language and doesn't always abide by the law, making incidents even tougher for SH emergency services members. Then, there's the tension with the PD. The guys at Sleepy Hollow don't deserve the image cast on them by mainly The Journal News and News 12. They're a great group of guys like many agencies in this county, and don't deserve this. The Sleepy Hollow event was published in the newspaper. Therefore, I'm going to let the members discuss the situation. Hopefully, something can be learned on all ends from the thread. Unfortunetly, there are some that go into "defensive mode", and instead of making their case with facts or knowledge, they sit there and whine that this thread exists. People are going to talk about it, whether it's on the forum or not, and the forum allows those involved to actually straighten out the published report, or, whether they want to have an open mind or not…..to learn from other's experiences or views. Maybe something can improve based on this incident, or be done better next time. We learn from our good jobs, and our bad jobs. I have no agenda, other then running a forum that's somewhat constructive and positive, where members are respectful to one another. I want the forum to be used as a tool to better things, and sometimes it's a fine line- and obivously no matter what I do people still complain and hold me personally responsible. I'm tired of defending myself against lies and misconstrued perceptions. It depresses me that people are more interested in covering up the problem or throwing blame then actually resolving the issue. This thread should explain my new views in running this forum: EMTBravo: Change Starts Here
  21. We have a nice little prize package for the first person who nails the closest time. Using the statistics of this forum, some who are mathmatically inclined may be able to nail it using stats.

Jimmy Boy was made an honary Westchester County DES Deputy Commisioner. Read more about Jimmy Boy, his family, and his fight at the link above. From the moment Jimmy was diagnosed, this forum was used as a tool to muster support and communicate about this little boy who's struggle taught us all an unforgettable lesson. 24. I like the idea. Sort of like a "camraderie" forum or "Introduce Yourself" forum. We already have the "On The Homefront" forum, which is kind of for that, but I'm open to further input and will give this good idea a thought. Thanks!
  25. This site's my baby, and I love providing it, despite times like this which completly frusterate me. I feel obligated to the members like you, to provide a great site. The moderators do a great job and help me a ton, but I am addicted to this site and it's hard breaking away, although I do need to learn when to walk away, which sometimes is easier said by me then done, and I wish I could. It just bothers me that some people make things up and come to their own conclusions instead of asking me, or don't listen or acknnoledge what I have to say. Anyway, thanks for the support.
