  1. Current update: I just paid $400+ dollars to go with the new hosting solution, which will be about $270/month thereafter. I am awaiting a refund from the server company I inttially hired. Due to everyone's generosity, I was able to just scrape by and cover all the initial costs. Thank you! (But we're not out of the woods yet)
  2. You may change your username by contacting me via the email associated with your account at the following email address: EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com Please include your current username, your desired new username, and why you want to change it. You may only change your username once a year. -Seth
  3. First, thanks to everyone who has donated for their tremendous generosity so far. You have no idea how much this hurts and embarrases me. I really, really appreciate that so many care about this site. I really hope I can refund some money once I determine what my new hosting costs will be. If there is anything left over, I will divide equally a refund to all those that donated. Not being able to work a second job, only getting my base salary on workers comp, common and maintanence charges on my co-op going up, gas prices (when going out to get photos), medical bills and debt, equipment, and having all these IT things thrown at me at once. My bank account is in a negative balance, credit cards maxed out, leaving me no money to make the move to a new webhost-which is why I need money right away. I've already tapped my family too much. Going foward, I need to manage my finances with this site a lot better, something that will be easier once a new hosting solution is selected. I'm sorry about that. That shouldn't have been there, I think I have it corrected. Contact me if you or anyone else wants a refund. I don't understand what you mean, but all donations go towards this site. The money is going towards a hosting solution to consolidate all my websites onto one host, and keep the all the sites going. I am trying to work with a host to determine the most cost-effective solution. Once we determine that, I will need some cash up front to pay for the hosting package, and any other associated costs. Checks can be mailed to: Made out to: Granville Enterprises OR Seth Granville P.O. Box 121 Hartsdale, NY 10530
  4. I'm sorry about yesterday. I would have addressed the issue sooner, but I am currently on the road on business in Austin, TX. As you know, we recently purchased our own server. We are in the process of consolidating all the EMTBravo websites onto this server from various webhosts and other servers. These forums are still on a shared hosting server. Due to a consistent growth in high resource usages, the webhost automatically locked us out. They temporarily moved us to a another server, but I will have to move this site over to the new dedicated EMTBravo server ASAP upon my return home. The move of this site may cause additional downtime to this site, which I will try to advise about before it happens, and will try to minimize the downtime. I thank everyone for their patience over the past few weeks. As you know, due to explosive growth, we have been experiencing several somewhat overwhelming IT problems which I am continuing to work on. All the issues are identified, and resolutions figured out, it just takes time and energy to implement them. We are also paving the way for future expansion and growth of the site. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR KINDS WORDS, SHOWS OF SUPPORT, AND OFFERS OF ASSITANCE! I TRULY APPRECIATE IT!
  5. Since this is a legitamate issue, and many members have made excellent points, I will and want to let this thread remain open for discussion. However, I did recieve information from a few members concerned that one member posting on this thread does have a documented history of having an issue with a certain agency. For the sake of keeping this discussion going, I'd like to ask that this thread be kept at a professional level, and not used to (consistently) rant against a specific agency, even if the agency is not stated but implied. Please, let's keep this forum at a mature and professional level. Let's treat all topics as if we were in a room talking to one another, and show respect, no matter how much you disagree with someone else's opinion.
  6. Members- At 00:01 hrs on January 1st, 2008, EMTBravo.COM (the original and main page) will turn 5 years old. TO SEE HOW THE EMTBRAVO.COM MAIN PAGE EVOLVED ALONG THE WAY, CLICK HERE TO VISIT THE INTERNET ARCHIVE "WAYBACK MACHINE". EMTBravo.com started on January 1st, 2003 as a small personal site for me to share my photos and information that I previously used to email out via my email address...which was EMTBravo@.......com. That's how the site got it's name. From that point, the site- thanks to an awesome and incredible membership, and the support of many- this site has grown to where it is today. I like to describe it as a "snowball effect". 2007 marked yet another straight year of growth. We recieve thousands of visitors daily, from all corners of the globe-including some very "high profile" people who are regular visitors as well. I was shocked when I found out this year some of those people who enjoyed EMTBravo.com regularly. 2007 also marked many changes for EMTBravo.com, including a move to our own dedicated server as well as numerous technical and other upgrades. I'd like to thank everybody for all their support with their site, and although it does give me a great deal of grief and stress, I really do enjoy providing it for all of you, and can't believe it's been 5 years already. I know we can make 2008 even better. -Seth G. Founder And Administrator The EMTBravo Group P.S. Click here for information on the special EMTBravo.com 5th Birthday Lotto Jackpot(s). 7. Several members have requested a special holiday points lotto. So, we're doing a special lottery to commemerate the 5th birthday of EMTBravo.com, which also coincides with the New Year. Here's how it's going to work: You may buy up to 5 lotto tickets at 50 points each for each round. Base jackpot will be 2,008 points. Drawings will be HOURLY. You can enter (up to 5 tickets) each hour. Whomever wins the most points in today's drawings will also win an EMTBravo sweatshirt or t-shirt (provided I have the size).
  8. EMTBravo.com is currently seeking businesses to advertise on the EMTBravo.com website. Advertisers help keep EMTBravo.com online, and right now are crucial to keeping EMTBravo.com and related websites online and growing, and keeping EMTBravo free for all visitors. We recieve several thousand hits a day from all over the emergency services community from all over the world.. If my personal financial situation worsens, we also may be forced to start re-accepting donations. Even with advertisers, a lot of money to run this site and produce content (such as gas to go to photo shoots) comes straight out of my pocket. Due to a situation I am stuck in, I am really having a hard time financially and don't see it resolving itself for several months, so revenue from advertising would really help right now. For more details, please visit our Advertiser Information page: http://emtbravo.com/advertise.html

  11. We can't babysit the forums 24 hours a day. We are VERY strict with the Incident Alerts, and Truck4 spends hours upon hours each week polishing up the IA forum, looking through the IA's for inaccuracies and to verify or clarify info, etc. We do have a very strict set of rules for IA's, but sometimes newer members who post IA's don't know them. We usually PM these members with the correct way to post an Incident Alert. Incident Alerts should only be posted if it is a CONFIRMED incident only. This means by a someone on scene who can do so, like a fire chief. Also, an Incident Alert, as Izzy pointed out, should be a noteable incident only. To read the guidelines on Incident Alert Posting, please view the topics pinned to the top of the Incident Workshop forum. I'd like once again thank those members who consistently post quality Incident Alerts, and Truck4 for all his hard work on the Incident Alert forum. I'd also like to point out, that if you have an issue with an IA or post, hit the "Report" button to bring it to a moderators attention so that we may deal with it.

Simply point your phone's web browser at http://www.emtbravo.mobi and it will give you a text-based, read-only version of these forums. Hope you enjoy the new feature for now-we are planning to launch a full EMTBravo Mobile site sometime in 2008. -Seth
  13. Their may be a special New Year's ticket. Bump this thread on New Years Eve MORNING (Dec 31st) and I'll increase the New Years Eve jackpot. I'm also considering clearing everyone's balance to zero, to start the New Year off on a fair and even note. Also considering adjusting the point system and how you can accrue them, then whoever has the most points at the end of the month or year would win a prize.
  14. Thank you, I appreciate the input and kind words. There are additional skin options available for your choosing at anytime. On the botton of the forums page, there is a drop down box. You can choose from a couple of different skins there. We may have a New Year's skin, and I hope to add more skins in the future.
  15. (For some of you that may not know, we have been experiencing some server issues over the past few weeks) EMTBRAVO.COM MAY EXPERIENCE SOME TEMPORARY DOWNTIME THIS WEEKEND! Due to a significant spike in traffic to EMTBravo.com, we are forced to upgrade to a new, faster, dedicated server with a new webhost. We attempted a server move earlier this week, but EMTBravo.com has outgrown a shared server enviroment and requires it's own server now. We hope to have this transition completed within the next few days. We're making this move to ensure that EMTBravo.com can grow more, handle the growing traffic, as well as load quickly for all members. at all times. I apologize in advance for any difficulties you may encounter during this process. We thank you for your continued support and patience while we take this enormous step forward to make EMTBravo.com even better!
  16. There is a server issue on the EMTBravo.net that the webhost is working to correct, hopefully soon. I am working on a ton of IT stuff right now and am a little overwhelmed. I appreciate everyone's patience during this time, and I aks that if you are having a problem accessing any EMTBravo website, please let me know so I can resolve the issue. If you are still having trouble accessing EMTBravo.COM: This should be a temporary issue that should resolve overnight for all users. If you cannot view the site still please try the following: 1. clear all browser cookies, cache/temporary internet files, and history. 2. update all bookmarks related to the domain you are attempting to access. 3. reload the browser. 4. try accessing the domain(s) using http://www.megaproxy.com/freesurf/ 5. You may need to run the following command as well, to clear dns cache: Windows 2000: a. go to start > run b. type: cmd [enter] c. at the prompt type: ipconfig /dnsflush d. close the command prompt window. Windows XP: a. go to start > run b. type: cmd [enter] c. at the prompt type: ipconfig /flushdns d. close the command prompt window. MAC: a. open a terminal window b. type: lookupd -flushcache Windows 98/98SE/ME: there is no dns cache flush option on these operating systems. (restarting pc may help). If this does not help, restart your pc, and try again. If it is still not reachable, you may need to allow up to 6 hours for propagation time.
  17. #1. There has been a message posted on the front page of EMTBravo.com for over one week now describing the situation. #2. There already is an existing topic on this matter in this forum. Please make sure to review the existing topics before creating a new one, to avoid making duplicate topic. With that said, here's the topic on what's going on: http://emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=22122
  18. Give it a few hours as described above for changes to propogate across the internet. Remember to clear you temporary internet files, flush your DNS cache, and close and reopen a new browser window if you still can't access the site by tommorow miday.
  19. EMTBravo.com has made the move onto our brand new, dedicated server! *Big sigh of relief* We now are the proud owners of a whole entire Linux Pentium powered server now, for the exclusive use of the EMTBravo websites. (We are still operating off several different servers for now, but plan on consolidating most of our sites to our new server over the next few months) . The fun part is, I now get to learn/teach myself how to be a server administrator, oh boy!!! With this move, we have a new "address" on the internet. Due to that, it may take up to 72 hours for some computers to find the new (technical) address. (The site itself is always located at http://www.emtbravo.com) Also, if you can see the yellow message on EMTBravo.com confirming you are viewing the site on the new server, please give me some comfort and post here that you're seeing that message. And if you can let me know how fast or slow it is loading, that would be appreciated as well. Thanks! Please feel free to contact us with any problems at EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com, or by posting on this thread.
  20. Ask and you shall recieve. A Christmas Skin is now available. I've been meaning to put more "decorations" up on EMTBravo.com, just have been so busy with other things on the site, plus I can't seem to get into the Christmas spirit much this year.
  21. I do not know why this topic was locked, especially without an explanation from the moderator. I do NOT agree that it should have been locked, I believe it may have been in error, or possibly requested by the topic starter. This topic is reopened, it was a constructive topic, and I do apologize and will look into the issue. I'm angry about this for the same reasons as you. However, there was no need to trash this forum, or insult other members topics especially without contacting me or giving me a chance to look into or explain the issue first. And, I didn''t notice this thread until browsing through specific forums, especially since it was posted in the incorrect forum. So, next time PLEASE send me an email to EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com so I can take care of the issue ASAP.
