Members, You've probaly noticed the "Incident Alert Live" box at the top of the forum index. We're experimenting with this feature. It is still in beta stage. It is to be used for putting out incidents in real time, even minor incidents. For example, someone can post in the box "Ardsley responding to a car fire on the New York State Thruway" or to inquire about incidents, such as "What does Somers have?". Please also note this DOES NOT replace the Incident Alerts! Please let me know how you like this feature. Any and all feedback is appreciated! A couple of housekeeping items for the Incident Alert Live Shoutbox 1. Rules of the forum still apply in the shoutbox 2. Members SHOULD NOT give advice, opinions, or self moderate to other members via the shoutbox on what should be considered an Incident Alert or shouldn't. Additonally, the shoutbox is not the place to discuss this. If you have concerns about an IA or Shout, please contact a staff member-that's what WE are here for. However, feel free to use this thread for any general complaints, ideas, etc. 3. With the above in mind, PLEASE use common sense when using the shoutbox. An automatic fire alarm IS NOT appropriate for the shoutbox. The shoutbox is meant to post potential incidents, heads up, times when there isn't enough information for an Incident Alert, simple breaking incident discussion etc. 4. Again, routine calls such as automatic fire alarms, simple MVA's, everyday calls- they don't need to be posted in the shoutbox or at all. PLEASE USE YOUR BEST DISCRETION WHEN TRYING TO DETERMINE IF AN INCIDENT IS SHOUTWORTHY.

I'm thinking of doing another batch of EMTBravo T-Shirts and helmet stickers, and I need the membership's help and input. I want to promote the site using these items. For the T-Shirt: What color, wording, and artwork would you like to see? For the helmet stickers? Design, wording, artwork? Please post on this thread so we can play off each other's idea. Members, Please don't start discussions based on photos posted in a thread in any of our "Photo Gallery" subsections. Most of our photographers share their photos here so people can enjoy their work and see the visuals of the incident, apparatus, or whatever they may post.. When a discussion starts based on the posted photos, it discourages our contributing photographers from posting. They don't share their photos to critique the incident or whatever is in the photo. And departments become hesitant to allow true fire photographers on scene or their apparatus for posting on this site. If you want to start a discussion on the INCIDENT OR APPARATUS itself (NOT based on the photos), please start a seperate thread in the appropriate local forum. The result of not following the request above.....we're going to see less and less photos being posted. Since we strongly value our photographers contributions and photos are a very important part of our site, we are going to be very strict on this issue. Thanks! Seth G. Members, I'd like some feedback regarding our Incident Alert section. Do you feel that the areas the Incident Alerts covers are appropriate? For instance, do you want to see every structure fire in Upstate NY (beyond the Hudson Valley), or just larger, more notable incidents for these outlying areas? Same goes for other outlying areas. What constitutes an incident that is worthy of an Incident Alert? What type of incidents are acceptable, and what aren't? What do you like to see, and what don't you like to see? Any other thoughts, ideas, of feedback is welcomed. Please post on this thread. This feedback will help us continue to grow and shape the Incident Alert section. I also would like to mention that we truly appreciate all those that write Incident Alerts and make the forum what it is. Without the members who contribute to the IA section, we'd have nothing. Members, EMTBravo.net your help as soon as you can if you can. We know we ask for donations a lot, but that's how we fund our community, and sometimes we need to rally the members to get funds. With the lack of advertisers this year, we're forced to rely more on our members to help us foot the bill. We have hundreds visiting each day, however historically, it's always the same members donating. If each member gave a few bucks a year, we'd be all set. The funding is used to pay for domain registration costs, server hosting costs, software license subscription, and other needed items for the site.
