I think all technology "hurts" in a certain sense because we come to rely on it and forget the basics. It's important to remember basic training without tools so when the batteries die on something you still can perform your job, no matter what field it's in.

I wouldn't dig the hole any deeper. I'd be careful about saying you aren't on good terms with them thats why you didnt put them down. Looks like youre hiding two employers that you dont want the FD talking to, and those are the two theyll probably WANT to talk to. Estimate the dates and just say they were off the books and you werent sure how they would go over on an application. And in the future put it all down!!! I bet you wont make this mistake again. we've always sent new guys on D.O.A calls to the street address to funeral homes. They wouldn't realize it until they actually got there. It backfired when there was actually a D.O.A. at a funeral home and the jokes flew from the "seasoned" tour that was working. Another one they mixed up the address (which was two numbers lower from the funeral home), they simply left the area when in fact there was a DOA a few doors up from the funeral home, the Sergeant on scene was calling for the dispatched unit who had to turn around from returning to the diner.

Ive had a few units respond with that. Mostly new guys, always good for a laugh

We did a make a wish a few years ago where a kid wanted to be a super hero who "saved the day" with police escort and everything. It was the most amazing and rewarding experience of my career and it will stick with me always. Wish we could do more of that!

That hour or so you guys took out of your own lives to give to this kid will mean a lifetime worth of memories to him! Outstanding, job well done.

Journal News Article "Reached by telephone Wednesday evening, Daniele's wife of 15 years, Carol Daniele, was still dealing with the tragic news, but said her husband was a wonderful father to the couple's two sons, ages 10 and 13." (courtesy Journal news) This gentleman died in a horrible accident at about 3pm, it appears from the article that the reporter contacted his wife (of 15 years and father of her 2 children) later that evening, I won’t assume a time but shortly thereafter 3pm and asked for a comment. What do you think her comment would be? What in God's name would possess a reporter to call a victim's wife like this? This is getting out of hand and they need to exercise a little courtesy and restraint. Next they'll have a microphone shoved in the family's face at the funeral, burying a 48 y/o father and husband. UNBELIEVABLE!

I believe they are not sure as to what hit the persons leg. I think the title of this thread is misleading and blows it out of proportion.

Sea Tow does cover the river, but as stated before they sometimes come in a "boat in distress" call and you dont know what you have. SeaTow comes from Haverstraw so a PD boat maybe a little closer and be able to keep a boat off the rocks until they get there. PD boats generally wont tow a boat unless its in the channel, then its towed to safety and they drop anchor until SeaTow arrives.

Its really not hard to look at your statement and see if a check clears. Thousands of people take care of it the right way, theres a handfull that dont show up or dont pay fines on time. The easiest most cost efficient way to address that is suspensions and revokations. As far as the notice being lost in the mail, thats why DMV requires you advise them of an address change within 10 days. And when you send a ticket in, send it certified mail with a return receipt, or hand deliver it and get a receipt.
