You're right. And that "exemption" shouldnt extend to any other emergency service either. So Ill step up my enforcement with FD and EMS for speed, cell phones, passing, parking in fire lanes etc. Thank you for opening my eyes to the problem

I've said it a million times, SELFISH!!!! His problems are solved but look what he's done to his family!

Since Id like to dabble in some buffery, i recorded it under "voice record", now how to I set it as ring tone??

There should be a panel there at that yield sign, if it detects you coming down and not preparing to yield it will launch you into the weeds!

The lawyer IS Ridley's family!!! He's married to Ridley's cousin. The whole situation is unfortunate, then for all this to take place tarnishes his honor! RIP, no matter how hard it is!

If you dont have one chambered GOOD LUCK! What do you do with a revolver? Keep one in your pocket?

A little known NYS Law: § 1117. Traffic-control signals; malfunction. Except when directed to proceed by a police officer, every operator of a motor vehicle approaching an intersection governed by a traffic-control signal which is out of service or otherwise malfunctioning shall stop in the manner required for stop signs set forth in section eleven hundred seventy-two of this title, and proceed according to the rules of right of way for vehicles set forth in article twenty-six of this title. Usually when those lights go out they barricade the center so 134 cant go across the intersection, just north or south. Maybe they JUST went to blink, obviously hard to tell from the story. But in the case of the big blackout a few years ago, this law would apply.

Simply MORONIC!

Like stated above there is no external safety, there is a built in safety to prevent accidental discharge when dropped, probably some older and/or cheaper model gun. Its definitly not a good idea to secure your gun in your car, too many things can go wrong. I go swimming with my daughter and manage to leave mine secured somewhere elsewhere. I wouldnt even trust a locker in a gym, too many people breaking into them. Im thinking this guy will be rubber gunned for a while and possibly be asking "do you want friies with that" shortly thereafter.

Definitly not a "good thing".

Pedestrian traffic comes into play, the area ie residential, tight street, playground etc. Once heard a story of one of our cops got stopped by a cop somewhere down south, he was doing 31, the cop told him if they wanted you to go 31 the speed limit would be 31 not 30. 35 is fast for some areas and I would write it, not 1180d but the not reasonable. Even though a speed limit is 30 sometimes 20 isnt reasonable, like Chris said, its a very subjective ticket and open to a lot of officer discretion, in your favor or not.

If you have one engine on scene with Chiefs and determine that there is NOTHING, then why even have the additional resources continue. Holding them in quarters seems more appropriate and less liability is present. At least that way they are "ready" to respond at a moments notice and aren't blaring through town. This should also apply to "responding personel" in POVs, it goes back to the blue light topic. And after it is determined there is nothing they should be returning all personel and apparatus ASAP! Don't have trucks sitting there in the middle of traffic for nothing, or sitting anywhere for nothing. Volunteer's time is precious, and why waste it after it is confirmed there is no problem, I know it is a deterance for me to respond if I know Ill sit there for up to 1/2 hour while the Chiefs try and reset the alarm, it's rediculous and uncalled for.

Contributing factors now include cell phones, so when we check it off it can be tracked in Albany for statistics.
-
I think your car insurance might go up considerably if youre now using your vehicle as an "emergency vehicle", it would have to be classified as such if you were given the privilage of running lights and sirens and people were required to yield. Its a problem as it is now with trucks and POVs responding, when I train new people I tell them, when the whistle blows find somewhere to pull over. Blue lights do draw attention to you and John Q does make comments and asks why we dont give tickets to vollys for driving the way they do while responding to alarms.
-
And that brings up a good point, how many people actually have cards??? And maybe we should starts a 0 tolerance for blue lights county wide, enforce the law to the letter, then we can avoid conversations like "this guy has two, this truck has them rear facing etc". Sometimes its better leaving well enough alone and be thankfull for what you have.
-
A rear end job isnt a prima facia (sp?) case for following too closely. The person could have been 500 ft behind the stopped vehicle and slammed him because he wasnt paying attention. Hard ticket to prove in court if you didnt witness it. Witness statements could contribute to your evidence, but we all know how reliable they are.

i agree. it appears after many years of observing them that they dont work, people dont move and they just seem to create problems.

I think the only time i'd write a person with PI or SPI would be if they were in the wrong (outside of a dwi etc of course). Like a person being ejected because they had no seatbelt, I think the injuries and road rash will teach them the lesson needed to be learned. But an idiot who fails to stop, yield etc and causes an accident, then they will surely get one.

Most departments have neighboring agencies frequencies in their radios. Plus theres a county wide talk around, i believe its point to point. A lot of departments are now nims compliant. We use the forms and structures for any large event (parade, fireworks etc) as well as unplanned events.

Felon Search

Yeah theres some felons in my town that arent on it. And the ones it does state Ive never heard of, so im going with BS! Can a moderator delete this topic? Sorry guys
-
Yeah Im with you, a 12 foot fence around every border in the US! Oh wait, wrong topic sorry THATS FUNNY! They should also broadcast any "negotiations" going on between police and a jumper. This way it gives you something to listen to while youre stuck in traffic.

I BELIEVE CRUTCHFIELD.COM HAS A SECTION FOR TUNING IN LCD TVS. I think it takes some looking around but it helps. I have a philips 47" and love it, it actually has a setup wizard for choosing the best picture for your lighting conditions. I hear tv's are shipped set up for store displays, ie under bright lights, so your dim living room needs some new settings. Definitly happy with it, escpecially w/COD4 its sick! Your next step is a crisp sound system, I wont go on about that, but if youre going to get a nice picture, you might as well get some crispy digital sound as well!

Now that I have a billion plus points, can we have a one time draw super lotto, like a million a ticket or something?!?!
