And looks like perfect parade weather, sunny and low 70s.

Corrected, mind elsewhere

Got this one today if anyone's interested in 800k. Im good myself, but thought Id share with all of you.

If you're not doing anything wrong you need not worry who knows where you are or when you're there! I say track on and let's not get back to the pre-9/11 mentality. If we try to be soft and fluffy and let our guard down, that's when we relive a nightmare which may be worse next time!

The LT is his father.

Anyone have details?

Under what statute? Every section i've seen covers diesel. Can you post the section for leaving a car running? And the point of the thread is parking an emergency vehicle illegally, not everything else.
-
Do I park legally, absolutely. Do I put money in the meter, no, Im not required to, do I leave it running, warm and cold yes I do, all the equipment in the car will drain the battery over time. That's not the point here. The point is that people cant park in a spot thats not too far from the fire lane, they park in the fire lane because they can and flaunt it, and in my experience its the EMS vehicles that abuse this. Send out those solicitations for donations and expect the person in a wheel chair that cant get on the sidewalk because youre parked in the fire lane in front of the ramp access to the sidewalk to send money!

Waste time getting to their car?? Some regular parking spots are 30 feet from the fire lane, a light jog is 4mph therefore taking you 5.1136 seconds to cover 30 feet, step it up to 6.5 mph and it will take you 3.1469 seconds. Now let's say the lazy spot isn't open and you have to park 100 feet away, the light jog will take 17.045 seconds, and the run will take 10.49 seconds. And if you don't want to spill your coffee you can walk it at 3mph for a time of 22.727 seconds. I could go on but I'm sure you all get the point. It will take you the same amount of time to get to your car as it did to read my reply! I hardly think that you legally parking an emergency vehicle will hinder your response time.

Is someone from this area? Is there NO OTHER place for a fly car to be parked and the medic jump in the ambulance? I find it hard to believe there's no other alternative, a mall, 7-11, school etc. If the priest doesn't want you there then so be it, find an alternative. To want to jam it down his throat isn't very Christian. To say that he's obstructing EMS operations or whatever, Id say you would have to justify that there was no alternate site for this intercept to occur. I dont want to what if this to death, im just addressing the general concept, as the article has no details.

Which part? You don't have the power to arrest for misd or felony anywhere in nys if it happens in your presence?
-
AMEN! And that goes for Police cars, fire trucks, ambulances etc!!!
-
This section covers prosecution only, not jurisdiction. As long as it's in NYS he's a Police Officer, I wouldn't "test the waters" (no pun intended) and see if he has "power" in another county.
-
It would be quite amusing watching a fly car get towed off the grounds. Then submitting the bill to get the car out of the tow lot. Sounds like this priest would get something towed, if not some criminal charges. The article definitly leaves out details on why this occured.

Does anyone know what was going on last night, appeared to be numerous fire/police boats operating south of Croton Point.
-
Like I said, yes we are required to act. But "act" doesnt mean get in the middle of a gun fight with no gun and your badge hanging out. Acting could include calling 911, getting descriptions of perps etc. But going home is the top of any cops list.

Cross between charger and mustang

Maybe these people who hang out and don't respond should be reminded that they too (probably)have family living in their district, and how would they feel if one of them, or them personally, called for help and some schlep continued washing his car. I always say, treat every call as if it was your own family member or your house on fire etc.!
-
Maybe he'll run for NY Gov when he's done being President. He can clean up some of the trash feeding off our economy and continuosly commiting crimes against innocent people.
-
Keep in mind, calling 911 and reporting the accident or such is "acting". Same as a Police Officer witnessing a crime in progress, it may not be safe for you to jump in (unarmed, outnumbered, family with you) but getting a good description and calling it in is acting.

Not talking to anyone in particular: you can read as many books as you want, go to a ton of training classes (a "junior" member doesnt usually have a family, full time job, as much responsibility etc so they have the luxury of attending a lot of classes, as I did) but you will never, I repeat never, get the "knowledge" you get from doing your time "on the streets" or however you want to put it. A book/class paints a pretty picture and yes you are prepared for a situation, but when things go wrong, the only thing that will help you is experience. With time, you get to see how to react to, and overcome, these imperfections that they cant write in a book. I agree that the "youth" of the forums should give their imput, but know where the line is and stay well behind it. Again, Im not directing this at one person.

You have too much time on your hands my friend!
-
Good points! Im not clear on the last, are you encouraging people to disagree with the government? or just to speak up if they do? I may be misreading it.
-
Im not sure where you're going Seth. Are you talking about the people who only show up to the boot drive and softball tournament? I think that being a volunteer FF or EMS is giving back to your community, saving life and property is a nice gift if you ask me. But like I said, I don't see what youre getting at. As far as a community as a whole I agree, if everyone chipped in someway this world would be a better place. How about those people that EMS transports for a sniffle, let them give an hour for the ride, providing they dont pay for it.
