  1. What is the topic with the most hits on emtbravo??
  2. awesome Seth, thanks. Thats exactly what I was looking for, is there anything you cant do??? ps-I may need you to step in for the website I was talking to you about. Youre the man!
  3. It seems that the whole thing is regarding "sexual harrassment" due to the "prostitutes" being the female EMTs and the "solicitors" being the male firefighters, what a mess. Doesnt say much for either side of it. Had it been outside women etc I may have found humor in the whole thing, BUT it being the "professionals" of the DCFD it really is "a black eye". Im usually not to post on these "black eye" things but this one takes the cake!
  4. Just saw the Applied to be Verified is 20,980. That might be the winner, but Id like to see what user post had the most, Seth, anyway of checking that?
  5. Anyone using a Total Station, if so, what equipment. Ossining and Briarcliff use Nikons with Visual Statement Software, FX3. Works great so far and very user friendly. Great tech support as well.
  6. Just went through the whole "birthing" thing and 2 months past due is impossible, longest most DRs let you go is 2 weeks past due, i think 4 is the max period, musta been a misunderstanding. And when a woman is in "active" labor, the last thing they can do "well" is walk, they can, but its extremely uncomfortable and as far as i know, impossible during a contraction. And those delivery nurses are AWESOME! Hats off to them!
  7. Is it equiped with a tow hitch for the shopping cart trailer??
  8. Check out yesterdays (Saturday 8/25) Journal news story on the roll over on the Sprain. Picture on front of paper shows how one lane can be open and still have plenty of room for safety zone. Only change is I would have put another truck where the trooper car is.
  9. Its open to interpritation, everything is at the officers discretion. That works in our favor, if there was a set limit on it then my hands would be tied, maybe 10 is too fast at times and it should be 5, the more leeway I have, the better off i am.
  10. Its a ticket! Warnings dont work, I learned that early on and as I pull over the SAME PEOPLE the NEXT day for the SAME thing I just feel better giving that second ticket!
  11. NYS does have a law in effect 1180/e (e) The driver of every vehicle shall, consistent with the requirements of subdivision (a) of this section, drive at an appropriate reduced speed when approaching and crossing an intersection or railway grade crossing, when approaching and going around a curve, when approaching a hill crest, when approaching and passing by an emergency situation involving any authorized emergency vehicle which is parked, stopped or standing on a highway and which is displaying one or more red or combination red and white lights pursuant to the provisions of paragraph two of subdivision forty-one of section three hundred seventy-five of this chapter, when traveling upon any narrow or winding roadway, and when any special hazard exists with respect to pedestrians, or other traffic by reason of weather or highway conditions, including, but not limited to a highway construction or maintenance work area. 1180/a covers reasonable and prudent speed. VERY open to Officer's interpritation. I havent had the pleasure of writing this, because im usually involved with why the road is closed, but mark my words, I WILL HAMMER SOMEONE SOON! Ive been waiting......
  12. Its been said 5 times in the thread, no one knows the situation on this accident. And we can what if it till the thread explodes, what if its on the third Friday of the month and its a leap year and the patient has a broken right arm but his left pinky is stuck in the cd player BLAH BLAH BLAH. We need to take each and every scene and treat it as its own, not put a blanket statement on closing roads, its impossible to do that. And a safety advisory, if youre "sitting there waiting for a tow", the safest place ISNT on the rear step shooting the breeze with everyone nor the front bumper for that matter.Just because theres a big truck there doesnt mean you have to stand next to it in the open lane and talk. Stand away from the open lane and the truck and it might increase the safety, but again, every scene is different. And yes, that applies to all three branches! BE SAFE!
  13. I think Seth is using the "broken window" theory and I respect that. If you don't fix the little stuff it turns into bigger stuff. Its his board and I think we should live by his rules. Have some respect for the guy, he built this board from nothing and theres over 6000 members now, I can see his point in not wanting it to go down the tubes. I DO hope that the person who promted the vulgarity ban with his reference to vulgaritys with symbols was stripped of his points and issued a warning as I was for basically the same type of post. I am happy to say that I have totally revamped my posting techniques and am now a professional, clean poster ;-) I guess I needed that wake up call from Seth. So, respect the guy, his wishes and his site and lets keep this good thing going.
  14. Pretty Intersting site Spot the Serial Killer
  15. Is there any truth to the rumor that he turned it down? I think the payments were out of his range or something.
  16. Playground Fire Check out this video
  17. Got this email, thought we could all use a reminder on the ICE program, not only to make sure our own phones as well as our families phones have ICE contacts stored, but also to look at a victims phone when they cant communicate with us. ICE campaign - "In Case of Emergency" We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends. If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this " ICE" (In Case of Emergency) Campaign The concept of "ICE" is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name "ICE" ( In Case Of Emergency). The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know whic h number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as "ICE". PS- Has anyone ever used this in the field???
  18. Everyone, either Volly or Paid, has hailed themselves as "professionals" on this site at one time or another (and yes us cops too). I think the LT is right, you need to get your emotions in check and do what you have to do to get the fire out. Running around a scene in panic or driving your car to the front of the building isnt going to help anyone, THEN, we can all watch the video on here and say how stupid it all looked! I think we should be able to keep our emotions in check and get the job done, your family, house etc may rely on it and thats when your training should kick in and it should all be second nature, and maintain that "professional" image we all want. Thats why taking training seriously is important, showing up to a drill and watching from the bumper of a rig isnt training. Even heroes need to train! You fight how you train and I have seen it a million times over applied, both fire and pd, the guys who half a** train get there asses kicked one way or another (not literally all the time, but you get the point). So train like your life (and house) depend on it! And I too am not directing this at anyone, its a general statement.
  19. I believe that as an American you have a duty to support your President and his decisions, even if you dont like them. We live in a democracy and have the right to vote (side note: if you dont vote you dont have a damn thing to say about anything or anyone), your guy may not win all the time but we're "stuck" with who does win and we must support them to keep these "United States" strong. Like it was said before, our ememies, either foreign or domestic, sit back and laugh at us when we devide as a country. There should be no question in any American's mind when it comes to "support the war, not the troops or dont support the war and support the troops. Support our country and our President!!! God Bless every single service person thats here or overseas and everyone of them who has served in the past. It is because of them that we enjoy our everyday freedoms that we couldnt live without. As far as 9/11, every American should be pissed off! Those people (cops and firefirghters) that you rely on to keep you and your property safe everyday gave their lives and died for this country. Right after 9/11 everyone wanted to "get the bastards" responsible. Theyre still looking for THE one but got a few in the mean time. Just because they didnt have a direct hand in 9/11 doesnt mean the Huseins (sp?) didnt need to go too! No everyone wants to take back the "get em" frame of mind and get out. Well it aint that easy, as they say, we need to pull out slowly and blah blah blah. Next time you see a service person, (as dadbo stated) thank them and give them your blessing, that stuff goes a long way while theyre on the plane flying "over there", makes them proud and leets them know we're behind them and appreciate what theyre doing. I remember right after 9/11 when in line for coffee people, on more than one occassion, bought me coffee and "thanked" me for the job I do. That went away after a few weeks and we're back to normal, what ever happened to "never forget"? I dont expect anything because of what I do, but a "thank you" is nice to hear. Everyone forgets 9/11 or they wouldnt be bitching about war and troops etc. If they need something to do once a week (besides protest) let them prepare care packages for our troops who have NO CHOICE but to be there! If it's so tough to live here then MOVE! Theres plenty of room "over there" and more everyday, then see how much the like America!!! God Bless our troops and God bless AMERICA! Sorry for the long post, got on a roll ;-)
  20. I did hear something about this. Althought I was not ON THE WHEEL that day, i heard it from another guy I know. That happened a while back, we went to do a FDNY funeral and that was when the "war" was hot and heavy between PD and FD, we were told that we werent needed and thanked for coming down. Kind of disheartening. Who gives a S#$# what the bosses think, its all about the deceased and their family, this is their day to shine and every piece of equipment should be put out! When I go out I want the biggest, baddest procession there is!
  21. Who won in Mahopac's wet parade with nobody watching?
  22. I thought that exactly when passing the CVS. And I believe my spectator count was at about 12 at that point.
  23. Any word on the parade for tonight? If it is cancelled is there a rain date?
  24. Just looked at weather channel, looks like we're out of the green in a little bit. Might work out afterall!
  25. Thats EXACTLY what I was trying to say!
