B-2 covering the city due to recent cuts. I believe 75, using a spare, broke down, per nycfire.net post) Engines 306, 303, 312, 304; Ladders 71, 74; Rescue 1; B-2. Yonkers Police Department Empress EMS Yonkers Office of Emergency Management (OEM) American Red Cross. Weather Conditions: 80 Degrees, Fair. Description of Incident: Minor working fire on the first floor of a three-story Multiple Dwelling. Fire was declared under control approximately 30 minutes after arrival on scene. Fire gutted the bedroom of a basement apartment. Description of structure can be found here. One FF briefly treated at to St. Josephs Hospital for a knee injury. Cause remains under investigation. The only tenant lived in a third-floor apartment and was allowed to return. The American Red Cross was called to provide assistance to the displaced on 7/16. Box Assignment: Engine 1, Engine 5, Engine 4 Tower Ladder 1, Ladder 3 Rescue 1 Battalion 2 (Deputy Chief) 2nd Alarm Assignment: Engine 2, Engine 6 Ladder 2 Weather Conditions: Mostly cloudy, calm wind, appx. 80 degrees. Description of Incident: 2-Alarm working fire in the basement of 2.5-story frame, 50x30, semi-attached. Showed from three sides upon arrival. Primary and secondary searches were negative. One firefighter taken to local hospital for heat exhaustion. Cause is still under investigation. Homeowner smelled smoke, went downstairs, and heard an explosion; exited home. The displaced family criticized FF's "slow pace". Most of the home is destroyed. Weather Conditions: Description of Incident: Working fire on the first floor of a 2.5 story home. Family of three was awakened by fire alarm, exited the house, and called 911. Upon arrival, fire was showing out of the 1st floor windows. Made quick entry and knocked down fire. Extensive damage to the front den and minimal smoke damage to the 2nd floor and water damage to other areas. Cause was determined to be spontaneous combustion of work materials used to stain and varnish wood located in the den. No injuries reported. Battalion 2 (Safety) Weather Conditions: hazy, hot and humid. Description of Incident: 1-Alarm working fire on the 1st floor with extension to the 2nd at 22 Orchard Street in Yonkers. Fire relatively quickly knocked down. 3 lines were S/O. Unsure if structure was going to hold at the time when the fire was k/d. Google results describe the building as a wood-frame 3-story home with 5+ families and 4,400 total square feet. Original call came in as someone set fire to something in the building, then upgraded to possible structure fire; arson assignment was added to the Box. All hands working. Exposures: #1 is street, #2 is 3-story wood-frame M/D, #3 is rear yard, #4 is 3-story wood-frame M/D. 12:20 or 15:10 hrs: E-310 will be FAST. Require a 5th engine, E/C E-308 or F/T. 12:25 or 15:17 hrs: Fire knocked down. It's possible that the structure will hold. 12:33 hrs: Fire under control. American Red Cross: Greenwich Disaster Action Team (DAT). Weather Conditions: Description of Incident: According to officials the fire started in the kitchen on the 1st floor. Building is a three-story, wood-frame, type-1, OMD. 2 L/S/O's, quick knockdown, few flames, mostly smoke. Nobody was home at the time. No injuries reported. The cause is still under investigation. Writer: Larchmont_Boy Description of Incident: (mainly according to LoHud) Heavy fire reported on 2nd floor of a 3-story OMD. Firefighters rescue two trapped inside, and another five residents climbed the fire escape and jumped to adjoining building roof (according to LoHud). Accidental fire started in 2nd floor kitchen, and quickly extended to third floor and porch. Two residents were treated for smoke inhalation, and nine firefighters had to be taken to the hospital for conditions ranging from exhaustion to a sprained back. Red Cross, with OEM's help, provided emergency lodging and/or funds for food, clothing, and/or other basic necessities for the three displaced families (11 adults and three children) of the three affected apartments. The Red Cross was later called on April 10 for the School Street apartment fire and assisted four residents.
