Haha! You're welcome JW! The reason I didn't mention Station 37 is because it's down in Roxbury and I thought that it may be a little out of your way to go all the way down there. However, I'll leave the address and info below if you'd like to go down that far. Fire Station # 37 Roxbury/Mission Hill 560 Huntington Ave. Engine 37 Ladder 26 District 5 If you need anymore help or addresses of other Boston firehouses, I'll be glad to help. Good luck in Boston!

I just went to Engine 10, Tower Ladder 3, Rescue 1, and Division 1's quarters on Friday to snap a few pics of the rigs and such. I'll try to get them up soon. It is a really cool station to visit. Plus, it has a few Special Ops. rigs there. Tactical Support Unit(TSU) 1, the Collapse Rescue Unit, and the Dive Rescue Unit. Engine 7, Tower Ladder 17, and District 4's quarters is also a pretty cool firehouse. Tower Ladder 17 is also the busiest ladder company in Boston. Engine 4, Ladder 24, and District 3 quarters is near the Mass State House in the West End. Engine 8 and Ladder 1 firehouse is also an interesting firehouse to stop at if you're in the North End and it's not too far from the Marine Unit on Burrough's Wharf. Engine 33 and Ladder 15 quarters is a very unique firehouse located near Fenway Park(They also just got a brand new KME Engine). Engine 50's quarters in Charlestown is also a pretty cool station if your near Bunker Hill. There are also many firehouses scattered across Southern Boston. Here are the addresses, apparatus, and neighborhoods of the above firehouses: Fire Station # 4 West End/Beacon Hill 200 Cambridge St. Engine 4 Ladder 24 District 3 Fire Station # 7 Back Bay/South End 200 Columbus Ave. Engine 7 Tower Ladder 17 District 4 Fire Station # 8 North End 392 Hanover St. Engine 8 Ladder 1 Fire Station # 10 - Division 1 Headquarters Downtown Crossing/Financial District 125 Purchase St.(At 125 High Street Complex) Engine 10 Tower Ladder 3 Rescue 1 Car 6(Division 1) TSU 1(Technical Rescue Unit) H6(Collapse Rescue Unit) J20(Dive Rescue Unit) Fire Station # 33 Back Bay/Fenway 941 Boylston St. Engine 33 Ladder 15 Fire Station # 50 Charlestown/Bunker Hill 34 Winthrop St. Engine 50 You can also consult Firenews.org and go to the department list page for a ton of information and pictures on the BFD and other New England departments. You can then go under Massachusetts and look for Boston in the B's.

That's one awesome rig! The PCFD paid guys could really use it. I like the motto, the "Midnight Special". By the way, just out of curiosity, what's the outlet for in the middle of the front bumper. A main or additional trash line outlet, or something else? Good luck with it guys!

Stamford, CT runs a hose wagon(a converted spare engine) out of their Fire Headquarters. It is cross-staffed by the members of and usually runs with Stamford's Engine 1 to confirmed workers or when called upon in the Northern-most sections of the city, where water supply is very limited and hydrants are far and few in between, thus the need for a hose wagon. The wagon itself carries 4,800' of 5" LDH. However, all of the engines in Stamford's northern most volunteer fire district, Long Ridge FD, each carry 2,000' of 5" LDH, in addition to between 1,000 and 2,000 gallon water tanks.

In the city near me, a Rehab assignment is usually added to most W/F assignments. In some cases, usually in the 2nd to 3rd alarm range, EMS is brought in and operates in the rehab assignment. The standard rehab assignment is usually the Rehab unit, in this case, an ex-school bus refurbished as a rehab unit, and an engine company, preferably, but not always, the engine company stationed with it. The rehab engine will usually stay with the rehab bus, but can perform firefighting duties, providing there is sufficient manning on the rehab bus. On the scene, whether it is the middle of summer or the dead of winter, the rehab units, and the occasional EMS units provide water, chairs, heaters, coffee, tents, cots, and other standard rehab equipment to the crews on scene. If there are paramedics on the fireground, then they will monitor the firefighters' appearances, vitals, etc. and stand by on scene in case anyone needs medical attention. However, EMS may or may not stand by with the rehab assignment, but sometimes separate. The rehab engine can either be the fourth or fifth-due engine on a W/F, depending on whether or not the R.I.T. engine is third or fourth-due. This also depends on the W/F assignment and if said assignment is upgraded above that. If it is a 4 Engines, 2 Ladders..., then the Rehab assignment most likely adds the fifth, or even sixth engine, depending on where the R.I.T. engine is or how many engines are already on scene. If the case is 3 Engines, 2 Ladders..., then the Rehab assignment is made the fourth or fifth due engine. There are no real concrete, set-in-stone plans when it comes to where a rehab assignment falls in a working fire assignment. It will be dispatched accordingly and depending on the assignment already in place.

Sorry guys. I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all and I'm really not like that. I was just on a rant and getting a little carried away with myself. It's true I have said some controversial things, and I'm sorry for that. I think I got a little carried away with what I said about knowing more than most guys on the job and I apologize. Also, I do plan to keep my mouth shut and my ears open when I join any department, whether it be paid or career, and whether I know what I'm talking about and/or doing or not. Even when you think you know something, even inside and out, there's always something you might have forgotten or something new to learn. Sorry about that once again guys and it won't happen again.

That is exactly what's happening to me!!! My town has three volunteer fire departments, each in their own district. The fire department that I live closest to I am reluctant to join for personal reasons. I was considering joining another volunteer fire department across town in another district, but only five minutes away. All I'd have to do to get to one of that department's fire stations would be to hop on the highway a few miles, get off, and I'd literally be right there! Plus, two of my friends are volunteers there and I know a fire marshal who put in a good recommendation for me to their assistant chief, and explained my reasons for wanting to join there, however, there wasn't much the assistant chief could do, since he was not on the hiring committee/board of directors. However, when I talked to a captain at that department, he said that I'd have to join the department in my district, even though it's only a two minute difference in arrival time between the two departments, which is still a pretty quick response time. He even said that someone from another town could join that department. What makes no sense at all is that not only can I not join a department in my town that is only a few minutes out of my district, and the department I prefer to join is ALWAYS looking for volunteers, that same department would let a friend of mine join who lived in another town, almost 20 MINUTES AWAY!!! Now, how do they expect to get someone in that position to respond to fires if that person takes almost 20 minutes to get to one of their fire stations? I have been into firefighting a long time, I know quite a few contacts in the fire service in high positions, and I know the job and what I'm doing practically inside and out, even more that most guys on the job today. In my opinion, it's not right, but unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be anything that I can do about it, other than to put in an application to that department, as well as the one in my district, and just see what happens. That is what a friend of mine, who is a paid firefighter, and the assistant chief of that department suggested. If anyone has any suggestions for me as well as to what else to do, I would gladly appreciate it.
