Here's the GFD's shift calendar: http://greenwichfire.org/shiftcalendar/ And for more info: http://greenwichfire.org/jobs/
-
I'm pretty sure they don't, but do not quote me on that.

I believe it is unknown as of right now. Greenwich FD currently runs 6 Engines(E1, E2, E3, E4, E5, E8) and 1 Truck(T1) out of 6 Firehouses shared with volunteer fire companies, and do around 4,000 calls annually(no EMS). Three of those Engine Co.'s run with a crew of four, while the other three run with a crew of two. The Truck Co. runs with a crew of three. There have been talks of opening a new firehouse in the northwestern section of town, thus adding another Engine Co.(E9). There have been talks of adding two additional members per shift to each of the Engines running with only two, so that each GFD paid Engine Co. runs with a crew of four. Also, if Engine 9 is opened, that will likely add another four man crew per shift. Makes sense. I didn't take into account the hose wagon plus the steamer and horse stalls.

Great shots! Is it just me, or is that one long garage bay, for an Engine Co. I mean? One would think a Ladder would have been quartered there at one time. I believe BFD Engine Co. 5 is now Squad Co. 5(formerly Squad Co. 7). I believe it's now located at a temporary firehouse near Bayonne Harbor.

No problem, 61MACKBR1. He worked on Engine 1, Rescue 1, Truck 5, and Ladder 70 during his career. I believe he was assigned to Engine 1 at the time of this fire. I'll talk to him and find out.

Happy Independence Day and God Bless America!

I know a retired YFD member who got on the job in '68. I believe he went to this job. The next time I see him, I'll ask him about it.
-
Rest in peace Dr. DeRobertis.

My father grew up in neighboring Greenwich, CT and was living in Cos Cob at the time. He remembers the fire well. A young man who lived at the beginning of his street was killed in the fire. A very tragic fire. I can't even imagine what it must have been like for the guys on scene, like PCFD ENG58.

If the '07 ALF went OOS, YFD Rescue 1 will probably use Rescue 2, the spare. It's a 2000 ALF that formerly served as Rescue 1. http://public.fotki.com/lfd171/city-of-yonkers-fir/yonkers--spare-apparatus/rescue-2-spare.html
