  4. Apparently, Ferrara Fire Apparatus is calling their latest chassis the new chassis design for the new FDNY rescues and rear-mounts, the "Ultra". The original Ultra chassis by Ferrara was a series of demo engines that went to the FDNY, the FDMV(Mt. Vernon, NY FD), and the Pelham, NY FD. Here's the new Ultra Chassis page on Ferrara, showing the new FDNY chassis design: http://www.ferrarafire.com/FerraraCustom/Chassis/Ultra/Ultra.html Here's the original Ultra Chassis for Pelham Engine 5. I think it was also FDNY Squad 55 from Third Watch, but I'm not sure: http://public.fotki.com/lfd171/westchester_county_fire/pelham/engine_5.html Here's one of the twin original Ultra's on Mt. Vernon Engine's 3(203) and 4(204): http://public.fotki.com/lfd171/westchester_county_fire/mt_vernon_fire/engine_203.html And here's FDNY Engine 54 with the old Ultra chassis: http://www.fdnytrucks.com/files/html/manhattan/e54.htm
  5. Here's a picture of it on FDNYTrucks.com, the 10th photo down: http://www.fdnytrucks.com/files/html/specialunits/otheragencies.htm
  6. Nice shots! When did FW Truck 2 get their ALF? I remember for a long time they had a rear-mount.
  7. I agree with jcoppola, it is wierd seeing a rig that isn't a Seagrave going to a frontline rig(not a rescue or special unit). From what I've heard, the Ferrara engines aren't extremely well liked in Manhattan, but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with their not holding up.
  8. One awesome rig! Can't wait to see it in service!
  9. Nice Fire Boat! Good luck to the CFD with it! By the way, will this be the new Engine 58?
  10. Nice shots! Not sure if it's still there today, but which Pierce Arrow is parked in the alley next to Station 1 by the back basement garage?
  11. I was wondering if anyone can provide general information on the role of the White Plains FD's Volunteer Division. I know that they operate out of the old Station 5 on the Hill and also operate Engine 210(Ex. E4/E5), the city's 1969 Maxim 1000/500 antique and parade engine, according to the Westchester County Fire Apparatus Photos Site. Someone mentioned in a recent WPFD historical forum that the volunteers provide a support role to the city's paid members and do not respond on calls. It would be interesting to find out when and why they were formed, what do they do on a day-to-day basis, etc. Any information would be much appreciated.

  18. In agreement with everyone else, the Sound Shore is pretty much covered in the way of tower ladders, but I guess Mamaroneck figures that it should join the party. However, with the type of village it is, with it's types of construction and all(much like Port Chester), I guess Mamaroneck figured a Tower Ladder would be a good asset to have. I'm guessing it will be stationed at HQ, along with the tiller?
