Hi all, Thought you guys would like to see some images of the relatively new MFB Breathing Apparatus & Hazmat vehicles that were commissioned in 2013 (I believe). My images were taken just after they went into service, where they were happy to set up the BA support vehicle for me to get some images. Unfortunately the Hazmat went out before I could grab more detailed shots of it. Completely custom built rigs to the MFB's specs, built by SEM Fire Rescue. The Breathing Apparatus support even has electric locker doors. Hopefully you enjoy the images to get a little insight into some of the specialist Melbourne rigs. Hopefully it's not too many images!

Alright guys, here you go; some of our rural vehicles. I also included a shot from a Hazmat incident on the weekend. 100_5035 by M.Getson, on Flickr 100_5038 by M.Getson, on Flickr 100_5009 by M.Getson, on Flickr The firefighters were decontaminated via the elevated platform for the initial decontamination and then hosed down from a ground line. 100_5028 by M.Getson, on Flickr 100_5024 by M.Getson, on Flickr 100_5025 by M.Getson, on Flickr Enjoy and feel free to ask questions.

Correct, to allow a full trial of the vehicle to test it's response capability. They are very effective, will explain a little further down. Correct with what the pod carries, there is more than one of these (around 3). Our average response time is 90 seconds, a pod response time is about 2 mins due to having to unload the pod it was carrying and load the needed pod. There pretty quick still! Our frontline engines carry enough hose for a second alarm. Thanks! More to come. It's certainly an interesting place. More pictures from a buffing trip today will be put up soon. Hopefully I have answered you questions and feel free to keep asking!

Thank you very much, this is what the inside of the ambulance would look like. It is one of the older models so there's a little more space in the one I posted.

Alright Guys, more as you requested. All the picture's I've posted have been the MFB, the service mainly stationed in built up areas, would you like to see some pictures of our rural units? Thanks everyone. Correct, the American vehicle is the Ford Brush Truck. It's being trialled as a quick response vehicle staffed with 2 crew to bin fires and as a rapid response unit. Unsure if it will be put into full time service and if more will be purchased. Built by: http://bfxfire.com/products We run a mixture of vehicles here in Australia from Freightliners to Ivecco's however our main Chassis is built on a Scania Chassis. Would you guys like to see some more images? If your interested I can post them up.

Hello everyone, thought I'd share some more images from Melbourne on a recent buffing trip. We've even got an American vehicle being trialled! Enjoy. 100_4979 by M.Getson, on Flickr 100_4938 by M.Getson, on Flickr 100_4957 by M.Getson, on Flickr 100_4951 by M.Getson, on Flickr 100_4965 by M.Getson, on Flickr 100_4948 by M.Getson, on Flickr

Hey Guys, thought you guys might like a couple of photos from Australia. Here as one of the main pumpers from the city of Melbourne attending a bin fire. (BTW; iPhone Images)

Ah, that's probably what I was thinking. Thanks for the help.
-
Now that's a fire station! Wish we had things like this in Australia.
-
That rig has a really small wheelbase for a truck like that, am I correct? I'm an Aussie so I don't see much of these.

Beautiful Engine and Station. Tell them good luck with them!
